Chapter 59 - Where Are You Taking Me?

Echo turned to Damon with a smile, after admiring the heart, "This means that you're my boyfriend now, right?" The word boyfriend made her feel a little giddy. It was her first time getting a boyfriend, it felt like she was dreaming.

"This isn't all I have to show you," Damon replied, after a while.

"Hmm?" Echo couldn't imagine what more he had planned for her. Her eyes widened and an unconscious smile formed on her face.

Damon took this as a cue to take her to show the rest he had planned for her. He held her hand gently, and walked her back to the lift. He could once again feel his heart pounding in his chest, but this time he was not sure if it was his anxiety or excitement that caused it.

Stepping into the lift after Damon, Echo felt a shudder down her spine, and she got goosebumps. She could not get the phrase 'Damon is my boyfriend' out of her head, and at the same time she tried to guess what more he had planned for her. It made her heart begin to pound once again.

"Where are you taking me?"

Damon, who was lost in thought, while staring at the love of his life, who was now his, almost did not hear her question. "Hmm? What was that?"

"Where… Why are you staring at me like that?" Echo pushed a strand of hair behind her ear, as she turned her gaze to the ground. 'Why is he staring at me like that? He's making me so nervous!'

Damon tilted his head as he gazed at Echo from top to bottom. He smirked, knowing that it would irritate her more, and she was just so cute when he teased her.

"Damon!" Echo glared at him, "You do that one more time, and I promise you that you'll get out of this elevator with your eyes gouged out."

"It won't be that easy to gouge my eyes out, my love. I wouldn't give them up so easily, since I need to admire my beautiful girlfriend now," Damon replied. He moved closer to her, and trapped her in the corner of the lift by placing his hands on the walls.

Echo's eyes widened, her breath ragged, while she felt lightheaded. 'What is he going to do? Do I need to punch him?'

Damon leaned closer to Echo, until their faces were a few inches apart. He felt Echo's breath brushing his lips, as he bent down to face her. Her large eyes glared right at his, and her lips were slightly pouted. 'How can I stay sane when my girlfriend can look so fierce and cute at the same time? I'm bound to lose my mind at some point!'

Just when Damon was about to lean in, and kiss Echo the lift dinged, and the doors opened. Echo crept under Damon's hand and walked out with a smirk.

Damon sighed, closing his eyes while punching the wall. "I am terrible at this!" He turned around, fixing his clothes as he swiftly walked out of the lift.

Leading Echo to the garage, Damon picked two keys up and tossed one at Echo. "I'm guessing you learnt how to ride a bike in the last year."

Echo was staring at the cold key that she caught. 'What is he planning? Why is he giving me a key-' Her thoughts were cut short when Damon cleared his throat. Echo's eyes moved slowly to Damon's face, with involuntarily raised eyebrows.

"What did you even learn within the past year?" Damon asked as he tried his best not to sound rude, but it was too late and it was quite evident that he was mocking her training.

Ignoring the tone he spoke with, Echo replied, "Nothing to do with the human world actually. It was all about fighting and magic… and the occasional flying."

Damon's eyes widened, "You can fly?" Echo nodded, but it was more of a statement than a question. Without further lingering, Damon turned to two bikes he had arranged for them.

"Whoa! Are these for us?" Echo asked. She touched the shiny purple paint on the bike. Her hand slipped through the cold metal section of the bike, and then she sat down. Her hands immediately reached for the handles. She could imagine herself cruising on the road, with the breeze blowing her hair back, and the cold brushing past the smooth skin on her face. She closed her eyes and saw herself weaving through traffic.

Damon held the centre of the handlebar, leaning forward to Echo's face. He tilted his head slightly to the right as he got closer to her. Silently watching her every detail, he gulped. His eyes fell on her high cheekbones, and then her sharp jawline, then they went lower onto her neck.

Echo almost felt the breeze brushing past her cheeks. She opened her eyes, and saw Damon watching her, while being so close to her. Her eyes locked on his. His eyelids were covering his eyes partially, as he did not move even at the slightest. Echo gripped the handles on the bike until her knuckles turned white, and her palm began to hurt but she did not move them. Instead, she felt a shudder run down her spine, it was much different from last time. She felt a tingly feeling on the back of her neck, and time seemed to slow down.

'What is he doing to me? I am frozen. Why can't I move? Why can't I take my eyes off him? Is this a spell… a spell of love?' Echo asked herself as she was in a trance.

Damon gulped when he saw Echo's eyes open and he was about to move away from her, but then her eyes largened. He felt like she was holding his heart captive, and he couldn't move without her requesting him to. He felt his body freeze up, and he transferred all his weight to the bike.
