Lucien massaged his temple before he found out the small letters written on the sides – wherever there are blank spaces, the nun's familiar writings will be visible.
- The Town of Demons.-
The loyal witch solely worships the high demons. The witch is willing to use this humble body to host your divine presence.
After reading this, Lucien's brows crunch up. There was a folded paper on the second page.
There are scribbles inside that belong to the nun's handwriting.
- I was a child growing up to see my mother offer sacrifices to retain her beauty. Whatever she wants, she gets. Her loyalty towards the demons made her obtain the things she covet. I want to be like her. That fucking bitch! Bruno was mine! He was my fiance and my lover. Yet she dared to steal him away from me by making him drunk and taking advantage of him! Now our marriage is cancelled. And they are having a family! I can't accept that &%^%& I can't accept that!! I CAN'T ACCEPT THAT!!!! %$&%^&%$&
(A/N: The%& $%& are unreadable scribbles that Lucien couldn't understand.)
Lucien's eyes started to hurt. It wasn't easy trying to read a crazy woman's diary with holes from her pen under the moonlight. And it definitely wasn't easy trying to evade the claws of the nun from ripping another chunk of his flesh.
He wasn't bothered by the pain right now. The chocolate he ingested may have acted as a pain killer. Although the damaged portion felt numb, other than that, his movements weren't actually obstructed.
He breathed a sigh of relief and hid in another corner, keeping an eye on the two figures viciously trying to take each other down. He continued to read,
- Kekeke I succeeded in sending that bitch to hell! Bruno was finally mine! My lovely Bruno is now with me. We are finally having a family together.
- I am pregnant! I don't care what other people say about my child. Yes, I am a witch, but so what? My child is not! This child is my and Bruno's proof of love. My Bruno is so happy!-
What should I do? I can't say anything to Bruno. Today, it's been four months since I found out I was pregnant. Bruno is at the farm. What should I do? The demon appeared in my dream, saying it would eat away my child. I don't want to. We have to run away! I have to protect this family.
- Nooo!!!! Why did I think of running away?! **%-$&$&% Why did I think I could escape the demon's power?! Now, I lost everything! The child I bore is not a human! The demon had eaten away my child! Bruno died after the demon came into the house. Nooo, my precious Bruno. I don't want to continue living without you. I want to die.
Lucien continued to try reading the passage, but the rest of the words were hard to understand. Nonetheless, he gets the gist of it. But that made him question it more.
If this is the nun's past, then who is the Father? Why did she turn into a demon? Why did the children have that look in their eyes? Are they demons too?
On the first page of the book, she said the Town of Demons...
Lucien wracked his brain. He turned around to try and see if he could go upstairs and have a look outside. His eyes caught sight of the small window. He climbed the closet kicked by the nun and peered outside.
Lucien's eyes widen at the sight. What's going on here?! The townspeople have gathered outside the St. Louis Church.
Their eyes were the same as the nun's. It was black, deep eye socket black. Their expressions are hard to discern. They just stood there outside, the moonlight shining on them. They look like zombies, except they aren't moving and don't attack.
Lucien continued to flip through the pages. Until he caught sight of another writing. This one is more clear and cursive than the horrible ones he was forced to read. The pages don't have pen holes in them, nor worthless scribbles to vent out anger.
But Lucien can detect something has changed here.
The woman's temperament gradually changed.
- I see a town full of life. I see a church full of devotees. I tried to enter to search for salvation. They threw me out. Even god rejected me. The demon took everything from me. Now I will request it to take away everything from them. I don't have happiness. They will not either.
Under these words are the detailed instructions on how to curse a land. It was a self imprisoning sacrifice.
A large scale curse requires a large scale sacrifice. The result was more devastating than Lucien thought.
The whole town, with its animals, crops and people living in it. All of them became the demon's possession. The bodies are moving and living, but they are only puppets retained to attract tourists to settle in town.
If it's children, they must be sheltered and live under extensive care at St. Louis Church, where they will be fattened up nicely.
If it's single travelers or people traveling in groups, they will be sheltered and cared for by the townspeople. They cannot leave the town's vicinity until the day of the game.
The hunting game where the two horned demon himself will come and eat the new tenants alive. If the demon does not appear, it could mean that the demon vessel left in charge, which is the spirit of the woman who cursed this land, is permitted to eat the new tenants.
Lucien thinks back to the demon slayer they left to fare off for himself. Guilt sank in his heart. It's all thanks to him that they have been able to survive in this game for this long.
In the fourth episode of the Slaying the Demon, only a few survived. Although there were more than six children, Lucien can't begin to describe how the destruction of Haven City may have accounted to these puppet children.
