Synopsis

Lucien Blake is a twenty six years old shut in otaku. He live his life reading novels, watching animes, eating and staring at computer all day. One day he went out to buy his favorite chicken lunch box meal at the nearest convenience store. But a robber came in and decided to rob the store. Without knowing why or what for, the robber shot him in the chest before running away.

Can his life as shut in otaku get any worse?

A series of beeps flooded his head, forcing him to wake up. When he open his eyes he found himself in another world very much like his own. Except for one thing. His beloved protagonist from his favorite anime is staring at him face to face. A notif pop into his head saying,

[Dear host, find and help the protagonist escape his fate of getting killed. Help him in his mission of eliminating the demons. Points will be added. Failure to do so will result to deduction. Zero points will lead to your death. Good luck.]

Lucien was left no choice but to adapt to his life as a mob character, helping the protagonist pave his path into greathood. It was all good at first, if you count off the number of times he has to pick up his butt running away from hideous creatures drooling after his flesh, his life being protected from protagonist halo was awesome.

That is until.... the protagonist pushed him down to bed.

Book is well written and characters have depth. I enjoyed the chapters where Lucien and Aiden were fighting the demons. The fight was well written, these scenes are difficult to write and I was able to get into it. I am looking forward to seeing the relationship between Lucien and Aiden develop. Glad I got this book in my recomendations and will continue to read. Great job to the author.

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for your captivating book, "Forced to Protect the Male Lead." I wanted to take a moment to share my positive feedback and commend you for creating such an engaging and remarkable reading experience. Right from the start, I was immediately drawn into the unique premise of the story, which centers around a boy who is forced to protect the male lead. This fresh and intriguing concept piqued my interest, and I was thrilled to discover how skillfully you developed it throughout the narrative. Your ability to weave together elements of adventure, suspense, and personal growth was truly commendable, keeping me eagerly turning the pages. One of the standout aspects of your book is the depth and complexity of the characters, particularly the protagonist. I found myself deeply invested in his journey as he navigated the challenges of his role as a protector. Your portrayal of his emotions, inner struggles, and growth was both authentic and relatable, allowing me to form a genuine connection with him. I appreciated the way you delved into his personal development, making him a three-dimensional character who resonates with readers. Furthermore, your storytelling technique is nothing short of exceptional. The pacing of the plot was expertly executed, with a perfect blend of suspenseful moments, heart-pounding action sequences, and quieter introspective scenes. I was constantly on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating the next twist or revelation. Your ability to maintain a sense of tension and keep the reader engaged throughout the book is a testament to your skill as a writer. I also want to acknowledge your vivid and immersive descriptions that brought the story's settings to life. The attention to detail allowed me to visualize the scenes with clarity, as if I were right there alongside the characters. This level of immersion enhanced my reading experience and made the story all the more captivating. Additionally, I appreciated the underlying themes of bravery, loyalty, and self-discovery that permeated the narrative. Through the protagonist's journey, you skillfully explored these themes and provided valuable insights and life lessons for readers. It was inspiring to witness his growth and transformation, and I believe these messages will resonate with audiences of all ages. In conclusion, "Forced to Protect the Male Lead" is an exceptional book that left a profound impact on me. Your adept storytelling, well-rounded characters, and ability to create an engaging and thought-provoking narrative are truly commendable. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world, and I eagerly anticipate your future works.

I first read this on Tapas, and it has surprised me so many times since then. The plot twists are well hidden, the characters are very well writer, and the world of ’slaying demons’ is very interesting. Most chapters leave me in questioning, which is a great thing. I love having questions and being able to solve those mysteries later on in stories. There is much more I would like to comment on, but I have no time at this moment.

I do not like rating something I have not read enough of, but the issue is, it looks to me like everyone with the means to judge what quality writing actually is has behaved the same way: dropping this after a few chapters and not reviewing to not hurt the reviews. I have still taken the time to check if the writing has improved, and as of the latest chapter, it looks like the author still struggles with tense sequencing. The first chapter currently has a comment saying this is not the worst, but painful at time. I, and 25 others agree. Since the reviews on this book are only 17 (and at least one is a chat gpt empty, meaningless attempt at commenting), it seems to me like the note of this book is in the end quite deceiving. The plot looks interesting, although cliché, there's nothing wrong with that. The MC seems childish at first, but I unfortunately do not possess the wherewithal to read enough to see if his character actually develops. I see hints of BL tropes I do not personally appreciate (MC as a placeholder for a FL, stereotyping of gay relationships, etc), but I can't say for sure for the same reason as above. Overall, this has potential, but for pity's sake, author, get it beta-read and edited before publishing. It would be a shame to keep discouraging readers because of a language barrier.

Nice, just not really my style. Besides, the love between them is a bit childish.
