Lucien was about to stretch his hand and wipe the face of the little plump boy when he suddenly stopped. He felt his shirt being tugged by someone. When he looked down, it was Aiden. He was glaring sharply at the plump boy and Lucien's hand that was about to reach out.

Lucien was a bit lost.

Does the little protagonist want to be fed?

One of the staff members directed the two to the two empty seats in the far left corner. As they sat, Lucien diligently asked which food Aiden fancied. He then stacked his plate with portions he pointed at and settled on the food he liked for himself.

"Let's eat." Old Fe announced as he took a seat at the head table. The other staff also take their places.

Lucien couldn't help himself but fill his plate thrice with fried chicken and finish a whole bowl of chicken soup. The buttered chicken is also so good that he misses the days he bought chicken lunch box sets in convenience stores.

If only there were cup noodles available, he would have finished a whole dozen servings. Lucien did not hesitate to try every food on the table. The common technique mothers used to feed their children with vegetables by mixing it with meat brings back memories.

He used to hate seeing this type of dish. Now he did not hesitate to eat and savor the flavor of seasoning to blend in vegetables with meat. It's been a long time since he had a home-made meal after he grew up alone, shutting himself from the world.

At the corner of his eye, he saw Aiden's hungry state, gnawing on chicken bones. A smear of sauce lined his lips. Lucien did not hesitate to take the napkin on his left and wipe Aiden's mouth. At the same time, he heard Old Fe suggested they take the children out for a tour in the Haven City.

Lucien immediately looked up. It's a good idea. If Lucien is not mistaken, there's a library somewhere in this town. Although the restricted sections are only for those who have permission from the Demon Slayer base, he might get a rough idea about the alchemists at the library!

Yeah, that's it!

Lucien's mood instantly lit up. He eagerly finishes his food and even gets the chance to spoon feed Aiden unconsciously. His eyes, beneath the expressionless look, contain the ripple of gentleness and care Aiden usually saw back when they lived in the church.

Aiden was startled. Then he grin wide from ear to ear, purposely acting spoiled and smearing his cheeks with sauce on purpose. Because of Lucien's enlightened mood, he never noticed this deliberate move. Thinking the little protagonist is a very cute child.

When they finished eating, they headed out of the children facility and went outside. They purposefully avoided the long staircase and went to the market. Where vendors sell a variety of toys, accessories, and foods. There's also a lot of shops for clothes, furniture, jewelries, and of course, inns where adults drink to their heart's content while gossiping about the latest issues.

As they tour around, Aiden stick close to him. He was holding his hand tightly with his eyes sparkling. Lucien let the little protagonist go and approached the food stalls. Since the staff said they would buy them food, Lucien did not pull out his money to pay for it.

At the base of the long staircase, there is a two-story cobblestone building that says library. The doors are wide open for visitors. When Lucien peaked inside, he found out there weren't many people inside. There's one gray-haired old man right across the door. His glasses clung to his nose as he sneezed hard.

"Let's go to the amusement center!" Old Fe energetically announced. The Amusement Center is located on the right wing of the city. It's a big open area with a cobblestone stage in the middle.

This is where theatre events are conducted and the annual recruitment for the Demon Slayer Warriors takes place. In one month, is the annual screening and recruitment for the Demon Slayer Warriors. Little protagonist attended this and was recruited together with the other children. At least, that's what happened in the 'Slayer the Demons'.

Aiden did not become a mage. It was only found out later that he was also capable of controlling light magic and casting arrays. A demon slayer gifted with two talents—this is the root cause of envy and jealousy among all. Because of Aiden's colleagues' traps and schemes to kill him 'accidentally' while purging demons, Aiden's dark magic affinity was awakened.

Lucien looked up at the clear sky. Is this the system's way of changing the plot? Trying to change the original fate of the protagonist by using him? Lucien did not think much about what would have happened if Aiden was in the Mage division. Besides, those terrible events that will happen in the future, like the killings and massacre of demon slayer members, not to mention the appearance of the tower, are inevitable. Nothing can prevent that. No matter how much effort Lucien puts up, it will still happen.

Those type of cliché events where the isekaid person tried to change the fate – only to end up failing to prevent the inevitable tragedies – Lucien can only sigh. He's clearly not in the mood to be that isekaid person.

What's important is for the little protagonist to survive. He must protect him no matter what, just like what the mission requires him to do.

Lucien silently slipped beside Old Fe and whispered. "Kind sir, can I stay here?" He pointed to the library. Old Fe look taken aback. He dumbfoundedly stared back and forth between Lucien and the library.

Old Fe swallowed before asking, "Why? Don't you want to come see the show with us?"

Lucien subtly shakes his head. "I want to read."

I need to find out information about Alchemists. If I'm lucky, this is my starting place to complete my task. If not, I can just try to sneak in the restricted section.
