Once Upon a Time in New York City

Becca expected to be told she had some sort of virus or maybe something internally wrong with her stomach. She did not expect to be told she was pregnant.

"Have you not been sexually active?" the doctor asked.

"I have been but we've been using protection! I CAN'T be pregnant!" Becca howled.

This was going to ruin everything. She hadn't done this on purpose—she didn't know how it happened—but her mother was going to think she had. Her parents were going to freak out.

And what about Darius? How was he going to react to this? She didn't think he was an irresponsible person but she didn't want to marry him because he felt bad for accidentally getting her pregnant. Despite her best efforts not to, she had thought about marrying him a few times since her mom brought it up.
