I'm Not Going Anywhere

Adam misunderstood the reason for Callie's tears and immediately began to panic. "I'm sorry! This is why I didn't want to tell you. I knew you would be upset. Forget it, okay? Nothing has to change! Just don't leave me."

She really did mean a lot to him, didn't she? He wouldn't be this freaked out at the prospect of losing her otherwise.

He hadn't said anything all this time or done anything untoward because he didn't want to burden her with his feelings. He truly was unlike any man she had ever met.

"I'm not upset," Callie said as she wiped her eyes.

"…you're not?"

"No. I'm crying because that's one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me. I…this might sound narcissistic but I've had a lot of trouble in my life for being 'too pretty.' Tons of creeps have always been interested in my body and nothing else. But you complimented me entirely on my personality. That's never happened before."
