I Don't Make The Rules

Addison's musings were interrupted by her phone ringing. She mouthed "sorry" as she answered it.

"Addie!" her mom cried. "You're impossible to get a hold of these days."

There was a reason for that. She had been screening her mom's calls so she didn't have to talk about what had happened with Sky.

"…my bad. I've been pretty busy. What's up?"

"I was hoping I could convince you to come down for your dad's birthday. Are you working then?"

Addison wasn't. It really wasn't that far to Trenton. Round trip, it was about four hours. Before meeting Sky and him keeping her busy, she had been a lot better about visiting them. She hadn't been at all since that whole mess happened.

"I'm not. I'll be there," she promised as she bit back a sigh.

Realistically, she knew she couldn't avoid her family forever just so she wouldn't have to lie about an extremely uncomfortable topic. She missed them anyway.
