Good But Strange

Perry Garland loved working with his father again once the danger passed after the BritTech scandal. They set up in his home office and spent half of the time doing freelance jobs to pay the bills and half of the time trying to come up with something new.

Larry was hesitant at first because his specialty was AI but he did not want to make the same mistake twice and create something sentient. It had been a miracle that things were able to work out for Perry becoming human in the end and he did not want to see anything else he created suffer.

So they focused on algorithms. Since they were only able to work on it for half of the traditional workday, it took a while between the brainstorming, the programming, the debugging, and so on. They were barely finishing it up around the time Elsie was born.
