I Did It For Me (Ch.34)

"How bothersome..." Neveah stood by the door, scoffing quietly beneath her breath as she pulled it open and stepped out.

"I could be in the luxury of my father's palace, yet here I am, doing good knows what. He's right... I'm not much different." Neveah said, watching as Vincent froze in his step and turned around.

"You heard that?" Dechlan asked with a wince whilst Luna Colleen looked apologetic.

Neveah was not particularly offended, she knew not all the Eclipse Packs had the best opinion of the royal family.

Especially after her father had attempted to seize Alpha Dane's territory a little while ago whilst making it look as though Alpha Dane was the disloyal subordinate.

And that was the least of what her father had done, only that they were only aware of that much, and so they were justified to be wary of the royal family.

And they were not wrong too, they could not even begin to comprehend how much worse the royal family was than what they thought.

Neveah also knew there was nowhere she would go within the Eclipse territory that she would not be judged by her heritage.

She was her father's daughter, as much as she wished she could be anyone else but Neveah Omega Lothaire, this was her fate.

"Princess...he..." Dechlan began to explain but Neveah lifted a hand to silence him.

"You need not explain your opinion to me, I do not care to know of it either but I would advise you mind how you speak...my father is not a forgiving man." Neveah said in her characteristic blank monotone.

"The Alpha King would not know of my words, if you do not plan on relaying them to him, that is." Vincent replied in an unfazed tone.

"You would be surprised." Neveah said, an amused smirk on her lips as she pulled out a dagger from her boot and flung it at the closest tree.

Luna Colleen, Vincent and Dechlan watched in shock as a black raven fell down to the ground, impaled by Neveah's dagger.

Neveah had sensed the familiar presence of the spy raven the moment she had emerged from the woods with Luna Colleen.

"Mount Vernon is guarded by the Raven Guards of the Eclipse Fang..."

"By that I mean to say, other than my tattle tale self...my father has eyes and ears everywhere on this mountain." Neveah said as she strode over and retrieved her dagger.

"The Raven Guards... you mean... the warlocks?" Dechlan asked.

Who did not know of the Raven Guards? They were an independent clan of witches and warlocks who sold their services to the highest bidder.

They were amongst the most famed mercenaries of the supernatural realm and for the past ten years, their loyalties seemingly belonged to Alpha King Lothaire Raul.

"If you do not know the ability of the Eclipse Fang...watch your words, so you do not loose your head or endanger your pack." Neveah warned as she pulled out a handkerchief and wiped her dagger clean.

"How...how did you even know?" Dechlan asked in astonishment.

"I know my father...fret not, it wasn't here up until just a moment ago and it would not be here unless..." Neveah trailed off,

Neveah knew her father well enough to know the Raven Guards had come for either one of two reasons.

The first was that Alpha Dane had somehow gotten on her father's bad side on just the first day of the summit... or it had come for her.

"Unless what?" Vincent asked, also shocked by what had just happened.

"I would say my father worries for me, but then he would not just send one raven..."

"Something tells me Alpha Dane has displeased my father, hope for all your sakes that my father is pacified before the day is over." Neveah murmured with a casual shrug as she studied the dead raven.

"You killed the Raven... doesn't that mean...?" Vincent trailed off as a man donning black clothing and a large hood materialized out of thin air.

"Yes, that is exactly what it means." Neveah murmured.

Vincent and Dechlan moved immediately, shielding Luna Colleen and Neveah.

"Stay back...he won't hurt me." Neveah said as she rose up to her feet and strode up to the warlock.

"I killed it... should I offer you my blood in return?" Neveah asked as she stopped right infront of him.

The warlock did not respond, instead glancing at Neveah for a moment before he lowered his head in a bow.

Neveah was not surprised, she had never heard a Raven Guard speak before and out of all her father's subordinates,

They were the most powerful, the most mysterious and the ones Neveah feared the most.

"It's not dead yet... I will heal it but you did not see anything here, deal?" Neveah asked again and after a moment, the warlock nodded once.

For whatever reason, the Raven Guard seemed to respect Neveah, they always had and Neveah had guessed perhaps they had not been told she was a bastard child.

The Raven Guards were barely ever at the Eclipse Palace, their duties were not related to internal affairs and always took them across the Eclipse Territory.

"Good then." Neveah said as she headed towards the Raven, she pulled out the healing potion her father had granted her and poured a generous amount over the Raven's wound.

Neveah watched the healing potion work it's magic and soon the bird flapped it's wings and flew over to the warlock.

"Apologies for harming your Raven, but I do not appreciate being watched." Neveah said as the Raven nestled on the warlock's shoulder.

The warlock's gaze lingered on Neveah for a moment longer before he disappeared into thin air.

"Will he tell on Vin?" Luna Colleen asked worriedly as Neveah turned and strode back to them.

"No... the Raven Guards value their word over their lives." Neveah said with certainty.

"He didn't actually say anything..." Dechlan pointed out and Neveah passed him a glare.

"Why don't you go ask him then? I'm sure he would love to explain himself." Neveah said in a blank tone.

"No... I'm good." Dechlan refused with a nervous chuckle.

"Why did you help us?" Vincent demanded, his tone suspicious and his eyes narrowed into a glare.

"So you can trust me and tell me everything and then I'll report it all in detail to my father... watch your tone with me pup." Neveah warned in a deadly tone, her gaze chilling cold.

"Veah..." Luna Colleen said, placing a hand on Neveah's arm to get her to ease up.

Neveah's glare lingered on Vincent for a moment longer before she passed a glance to Luna Colleen, sucking in a deep breath to calm herself.

"I made a promise... the heirs of Eclipse Hunt will be born safely. I have never failed to keep my word, as such... their mother's life is my responsibility." Neveah murmured before she glanced at Vincent.

"I did it for me... not you." Neveah clarified before she strode away.

"Regardless of why...you have my gratitude." Vincent called out when Neveah arrived at the door.

Neveah paused slightly before she strode into the house and made her way to her room.
