A Close Call (Ch.35)

"This is the final stage...are you ready?" Neveah asked as Luna Colleen sat in the living room.

It was already the third day and the Moon Whisper was almost completely neutralized.

Vincent and Dechlan had proven helpful on the second day and somehow Neveah and Vincent had silently settled their differences.

Now Vincent sat beside Luna Colleen, to serve as a calming presence for her wolf since they were kin.

Meanwhile Dechlan was ready to aid Neveah with whatever she needed.

Luna Colleen nodded her permission to begin the final procedure and Neveah passed a glance to Dechlan.

"Let's begin." Neveah said and Dechlan handed her the sterilized knife.

"You know how it's done, whenever you're ready." Neveah said to Luna Colleen.

"After this...my pups will be out of danger?" Luna Colleen asked in concern.

Neveah nodded, placing a hand on Luna Colleen's hand.

"I trust you Veah." Luna Colleen said and Neveah stiffened for a moment.

"I trust you...we all do." Luna Colleen said again, holding Neveah's hand, her gaze earnest.

Dechlan and Vincent did not argue with Luna Colleen's words and so Neveah heaved a sigh as Luna Colleen's eyes fluttered closed.

In a moment, it was time for Neveah to make the incision and she did, cutting in deeply and watching the blackened blood flow out into a bowl.

Neveah observed Luna Colleen's pallor, the color left her face quickly and after a few minutes, Vincent and Dechlan began to worry.

"Do you think it's time to stop?" Vincent asked worriedly but Neveah shook her head.

"No...not yet, a little longer..." Neveah said, her gaze narrowed in concentration as she trailed her finger over Luna Colleen's arm up until her inner elbow.

Neveah applied pressure slightly and the blood flowed out even faster, alarming Vincent and Dechlan but Neveah ignored them.

Neveah knew she needed to get every last trace of the Moon Whisper out this time, Luna Colleen had endured three days of this, anymore blood loss would harm the pups.

"Veah! Do something!" Vincent exclaimed but Neveah ignored him again, her gaze concentrated and after a few more minutes, the blood flowing out turned a deep, healthy red.

"There...there, heal now. Heal..." Neveah said, however Luna Colleen did not respond.

"She lost consciousness!" Dechlan exclaimed.

"Damn it!" Neveah murmured as she grabbed the knife and slit her palm open.

Neveah held her palm over Luna Colleen's wound and as her blood dripped on it, the bleeding stopped immediately and the wound began healing rapidly.

"Your blood..." Vincent gasped in awe as he watched Neveah's blood work even faster than the healing potion.

'I am an Alpha King wolf...of course my blood heals...' Neveah thought but instead she said something else.

"I am an Omega healer, the magic in my blood is more potent than a healing potion." Neveah murmured as the wound healed up completely.

'Do not heal... leave it be.' Neveah thought to her wolf as she rose to her feet, sighing in relief as color was restored to Luna Colleen's face.

"She will be fine... take her up to rest." Neveah murmured as she lowered herself to a seat, leaning her head back, her eyes fluttering closed.

A moment ago, Neveah knew Luna Colleen's life would have been endangered had she not acted immediately yet her action had risked exposing her true identity.

It was only a relief that the Eclipse Hunt wolves did not have much knowledge on the abilities of the Omega healers.

Had her father or brother been here, they would have immediately become suspicious.

This time had been a close call and although Neveah did not regret healing Luna Colleen, it became all the more clear to her that forming attachments would only endanger her in the long run.

"Are you okay?" Dechlan asked worriedly as Vincent lifted Luna Colleen up into his arms.

"I will be fine... I just need a minute." Neveah murmured.

They took their leave while Neveah remained in that position, she was not certain for how long but her eyes only fluttered open when a hand grabbed hers.

Neveah was slightly surprised to see Vincent take her hand and pour the healing potion over her still bleeding wound.

"You know to heal others, yet you cannot heal your own self... you are an Omega, you are not like us. You should pay more attention to yourself." Vincent murmured.

"This is your 'thank you?" Neveah asked knowingly and Vincent glanced up at her, a reluctant smile on his lips.

"It is." Vincent agreed.

"You should have at least used your own healing potion then, do you know how precious that is?" Neveah grumbled as she snatched the vial from Vincent's hand.

Vincent chuckled as he watched Neveah shake the vial to see what was left of it.

"You are Eclipse Princess, Veah. It is not more precious than you." Vincent pointed out.

"I thought you hated me." Neveah reminded as she placed the vial aside.

"I do not hate you Veah... I hold prejudice against your family, yes. And I still do, but I do not hate you." Vincent clarified.

"Well...you should." Neveah said as she rose to her feet and strode away, heading to her room.

Neveah knew it was only for the best the Eclipse Hunt never lowered their guard against the royals... that was the only way they would be safe from her father.

"Veah?" Luna Colleen murmured as her eyes fluttered open to see Neveah sitting by her side, a worried expression on her face.

"Aunt Colleen... you're awake..." Neveah said with a sigh of relief.

During the process of neutralizing the poison on the final day, Luna Colleen had lost consciousness and Neveah had feared something went wrong.

"Yes... what happened?" Luna Colleen asked and Neveah shook her head slightly.

"It's okay... everything is fine now..." Neveah said with a small smile.

"You mean..." Luna Colleen said, shooting up to a sitting position and Neveah nodded in affirmation.

"I already confirmed it, the traces of the poison have all been neutralized. Here..." Neveah said as she leaned closer to Luna Colleen and took her hand.

Neveah placed Luna Colleen's hand over the bulge on her stomach that was now visible and Luna Colleen's eyes widened in marvel.

"Now... close your eyes and just feel them breathe..." Neveah encouraged,

When Luna Colleen's eyes fluttered open again, silent tears dripped down her cheeks as she leaned over and pulled Neveah into her a tight hug, sobbing into her shoulders.

Neveah permitted a small smile as she ran her hand down Luna Colleen's back.

"Now... it's your time to be a mother, Aunt Colleen..." Neveah murmured, a rare warmth blossoming in her heart.
