Eugene Accepts God's Offer!

The God of Death snapped his finger, and a screen containing the view and detail of a world appeared in front of Eugene.

As he went through it, his eyes widened in surprise.

The world that the God of Death showed him and its background were similar to the one in the most famous game on earth in recent years.

"Isn't this the backwater world of the game, The Crumbling World?"

The crumbling world was a game where a mysterious Tower forcefully made planet Earth its property.

Many portals opened up on Planet Earth, each acting as a path for humans to enter it and for beings and monsters inside it to enter the human land.

Ever since then, humans have known no peace.

Using the portals, the various races and monsters of the tower invaded Earth and trampled on millions of people mercilessly.

However, humans were also able to enter the tower and encounter miraculous fortune that made them powerful, and then these humans fought off the invasion.

With each expansion of the game, the invading party would become tougher, and the humans would've to climb up the tower and discover more ways to become powerful to save their world from the invaders.

Eugene had played this game for three years before he died.

The God of Death chuckled at his words.

"This world is real. It's just that a normal person, who also happened to be a Seer, saw what would happen in the future of a world far away and what its inhabitants would do in the tower, took it as a mere dream, and shamelessly copy-pasted it into his game to make a fortune."

"What you've seen in the game written by the Seer only shows a glimpse of what's to happen in this world and what exists in the tower.

"The planet Earth and the Mystery Tower are far different from those you know.

"This world and the mystery tower hide far more wonder and truth than you can ever speculate."

The God of Death showed Eugene a mysterious smile.

"What character of the game will you reincarnate me into?"

"That's something you'll find out after accepting my deal."

Eugene rubbed his chin for a few moments before asking God, "What happens if I decline to accept your offer?"

"I will strip your soul out of your current body and send you to the cycle of reincarnation, where an official of the yellow river will wipe your soul clean of all memories before determining your sins and good deeds and sending you to a new life. Since you have a lot of good karma, your next life will at least be three times better than the one you've experienced. You'll have loving and wealthy parents. You'll be born with a silver or golden spoon, and you'll not need to worry about where your next meals come from or who will pay your bills."

Eugene didn't have a good life, but he had done many good deeds.

He was an orphan abandoned in the footsteps of an orphanage by his relatives.

If it weren't for the orphanage's owner taking pity on him and taking him inside, he would've died that winter night.

The owner wasn't rich, and the neighbors and the corrupt government poorly funded the orphanage.

So he had to afford his school fees himself.

By doing hard labor in the evening and working in a fast-food restaurant at night, he made money to pay his school fees. However, overworking also left him riddled with injuries which he failed to treat at the right time as he lacked money.

His body had become permanently frail and sickly by the time he got his degree.

The good news was that he became a full-time teacher and a part-time software programmer and started making four to five times the amount he used to make as a hard-working teenager.

He always split his salary into three parts, sending the biggest portion to the orphanage, using the smallest to afford his monthly expenses, and paying off his student loan by using the rest.

Because he had always looked after the orphans, helped old people cross the road or carry their stuff, and saved many people from bullies, he accumulated a lot of good karma.

As a result, he would live a perfect second life if he entered the cycle of reincarnation.

"Your words sound too good to be true. It's as if you want me to enter the cycle of reincarnation than to reincarnate as you wish."

"The choice is not mine but yours."

"What will happen to me if I accept to reincarnate into this world?"

Eugene saw the God of Death raising three of his fingers.

"I will bless you with three fortune.

"As for what they are, you'll find out after choosing the better of the two options."

"Give me a moment to think about it."

Eugene thought that choosing to live a life of wealth wouldn't make him feel any good as he wouldn't be himself if he forgot everything he had been through on Earth.

However, if he reincarnates into the character of the game, the crumbling world, he has a high chance of becoming more than what a human could ever become!

After contemplating for a while, he decided to enter the world he was familiar with.

"Have you made up your mind?"

"Yes, since you're going to bless me with three fortunes, I want to live this life and see it to the very end."

"You've made the correct choice, child."

Eugene suddenly interrupted him, "However, I hope you can tell me why you're giving me this chance? What have I done to deserve this?"

"You weren't supposed to live a life of tragedy, but someone went high and low to make you suffer and broke many rules in the process." The God of Death said without any change in his emotions, "Because that certain someone wronged you, I am here to compensate you."

Eugene didn't seem shaken by the God of Death's words and only lowered his head.

However, those close to him could easily tell that he was angry enough to kill someone.

He raised his head and flashed a smile to God.

"Can you tell me who it is?"

The God of Death replied with a single word.

"No."

But then he added a few more words to give him hope and encourage him to become strong.

"However, when you reach a certain level of strength, I will disclose that person's identity to you."

Eugene clearly understood that the reason why he wasn't telling him about the person who ruined his life was that he was too weak.

Why else would he say such words of encouragement to him?

Right now, he wasn't even strong enough to know about that person.

Later, he will definitely do everything in his power to deal with the person who destroyed his life!

"The three fortune you talked about, can you give them to me now?" Eugene flashed the God of Death a greedy smile.

"Your soul isn't strong enough to accept them altogether. Thus, I will imbue them into you one by one."

The God of Death raised his hand, and several tiny blue shards appeared in the middle of his palm.

"The first fortune I will bless you with is Eugene's soul shards. They contain not only his memories but also his innate skills. I believe you already know who he is and what his skills are, right?"

Eugene nodded.

"I do."

The game had a character with a name similar to Eugene, but his life was far worse than his.

Who was Eugene V. Samuel?

He was the most memorable character in the novel, The Crumbling World.

He had a shitty childhood, according to the author.

He was among the first group of humans to enter the tower and experience its hellish danger.

He was the very reason why the major characters and the gamers survived the Black Calamity that was going to destroy the Game's newbie & veteran playground, Earth.

He was the one guiding the newbies to the right path and helping the veterans climb the tower.

Also, he was a topper, but the chart he topped was about the characters with the most tragic death!

He was tortured to death by the main villain of the second expansion!

"After you've absorbed the shards of his soul, the strength of your soul will alleviate to a new soul, and you'll also gain all his innate skills and memories.

"However, it will be painful even by my standards."

"If you are still willing, just say the word, and I will help you assimilate with his soul."

Eugene slapped his hand on his chest gallantly.

"I am not afraid of pain, so go on and integrate the shards of his soul with mine."

"For such a small guy, you sure do talk big."

The God Of Death waved his hand, and the soul shard shot forward before vanishing into Eugene.

[Elias's soul will integrate with yours in a moment.]

[Please prepare yourself for what's to come.]

For a moment, he didn't feel anything.

But then, he felt as if he had submerged in a fucking pool of lava!

Endless pain filled him.

Unable to bear it silently, Eugene dropped to his knees and howled like a beast.
