Eugene V. Samuel's Past (Semi-Finals)

As Eugene expected, the news of Robert's death saddened V. Samuel. It wasn't without a reason that he felt emotional at the death of the shitty person who tried to kill him. At the end of the day, that man was his father, and he couldn't help but feel pained while looking at his breathless corpse.

After attending Robert's funeral, V. Samuel went to a new city with his mother, where they started a new life that was better than the one they had been living for a year.

On a particularly sweltering day three years after settling into City Z, V. Samuel didn't know why but instinctively, he wanted to latch onto his mother like a koala bear and not let her leave his side.

He felt that she was going to face an accident today.

Eugene was also disturbed by the surge in V. Samuel's emotion.

"His emotions are influencing me. Is it the side effects of his soul integrating with mine?" Eugene's eyes narrowed as a thoughtful look appeared on his face. "That's very likely."

V. Samuel grabbed hold of his mother and expressed his wish to stay by her side today.

His mother, of course, took his worry as silly tantrums and refused to do as he wished.

She pinched his cheeks, picked him up, and placed him in the car before entering it herself.

Then, she drove all the way to his school, for which he had a scholarship thanks to his high IQ Level.

V. Samuel sighed, and he knew that because he was too young and hadn't told anyone about his possession of a superpower, his mother hadn't believed him.

Left with no choice but to let her be, he brought tears to his eyes and showed a pitiful look to his mother.

"Mom, please stay safe and look out for danger. Just for today, try as much as you can to be in the company of others. Also, avoid all sorts of shady places. Promise me that, please?"

His mother wasn't willing to see her little baby cry, so she immediately agreed to follow his demands.

"Alright, I promise."

She dropped V. Samuel at the school's entrance and waited in the car to see him walk inside.

After reaching the school's gate, V. Samuel turned around and said goodbye to her by raising his hand high and waving it.

After that, he turned his back to her to face the school's entrance gate.

He exhaled in defeat and walked into the school, heading towards his classroom.

The moment V. Samuel turned his back to her, Eugene saw a red exclamation mark forming above the head of the lady in the car.

Eugene tried his all to inform V. Samuel that the mark of death had marked his mother.

He had been with them for the past three years and had seen how much the two relied on each other and knew what she meant to him.

Her death would send him down a spiral of despair and leave him broken.

However, Eugene was like a non-existent thing in this world, who could only watch whatever was going around in this world but was not able to interact with anyone or change anything.

No matter how much he shouted or cried, he failed to catch V. Samuel's attention.

Because V. Samuel's back was to his mother, he didn't see the mark of death appearing above her death.

He walked straight through Eugene's intangible and invisible body and grouped up with his friends.

Eugene's expression fell, and then he turned into a ray of black light that quickly chased after Roselia.

She didn't meet an accident on the way to her work, nor did she suffer a misfortune while working.

Gradually, hope began filling Adult Eugene, and he started to believe that Roselia won't die and at most suffer a minor injury or so.

However, only an hour later, the mark of death above her head suddenly lit up, its brightness surpassing the radiance of the one that had appeared above Robert's head before he died.

Rosalia carried two big bags of garbage out of the restaurant and went to dispose of them in the shady alley across the streets.

After entering it and placing the big black bags close to the dustbins, she opened them and began sorting and throwing out all the trash in the various modernized dustbins.

Except for an otherworldly ghost, there was no one around Roselia.

But it didn't take too long for a man to sneak into the alley and creep up to her with silent steps.
