Eugene took the unconscious kid into the school's clinic.
He was lucky enough to come across no one on the way here but wasn't lucky enough to find it empty.
"Omg! Why does he look so badly beaten? He looks half-dead. Did a thug rough up this poor child?"
The head nurse asked Eugene about the cause behind Hunter's injuries.
"I don't know." Adorning innocence, Eugene lied through his teeth. "But as I saw him sprawled unconscious in the alley across the street, I decided to help him. So I brought him here. Only you can relieve him of his pain, Head nurse. Please give him a few strong pain killers."
The rays of light passing through the window illuminated his handsome face so perfectly that he looked as beautiful and innocent as an angel to the middle-aged lady.
The head nurse somewhat believed him
She had wronged him many times in the past, but this time she wasn't going to make him feel bad by questioning him any further.
"You're a good child." The head nurse patted his head with a smile on her face, "May God be always with you."
Right then, a holographic screen popped up before him.
[A supreme being has directed his gaze upon you from the upper section of the mirror, reflecting the truth.]
Who could it be if not the God of Death?!
Eugene really wanted to shout at the nurse that God has heard her prayers, but he swallowed his words.
"I'll get going then."
Eugene left the kid with the capable nurse and went to his classroom.
On his way there, many students greeted him and apologized to him for a reason known to him.
'I was a teacher before my death, but after death, I became a student with a good reputation among the locals and the student body. Isn't it ironic?'
[If you think it is, it must be.]
'Haha.'
Eugene entered the classroom, and a man he was awfully familiar with blocked his way.
The man had a head full of curly hair, sunken eyes, a sharp but high nose bridge, full lips, and overall a pretty good face that most girls would fawn over like crazy.
He was Arthur, the main fucking protagonist of the game, the crumbling world.
In the game, Eugene was just one of the many online players that were mostly irrelevant to the main characters.
While other players hunted monsters and other players, Eugene was only interested in finding and finishing the main scenarios to discover more about the characters' past and present.
Thus, not only did he know a lot about side characters but also Arthur.
Currently, however, they were strangers who had fought once in the past.
"Why are you blocking my way?"
Eugene questioned Arthur with an ice-cold face.
Arthur bowed to him, "I'm sorry for misjudging you. I won't make any excuses for why I went up against you. I only hope that you will have it in you to forgive me for bothering you."
Why was the main protagonist apologizing to him?
Eugene V. Samuel was nice to all of his classmates and everyone in his neighborhood except for the criminals. Everyone took him and his niceness for granted. When he became Allen's dog and started doing not-so-good deeds, his friends and others thought he had always been faking niceness to get on their good side. They trusted the rumors and distanced themselves from him. In more cold and hard words, you can also say that they outright abandoned him. Many of his associates even went on to spread endless negative rumors about him on the Internet and the campus. Everyone started believing that Eugene was arrogant, rude, and unscrupulous and had only been acting nice to cover up his evilness. Although he knew that many would turn their backs on him after he shook hand with Allen, Eugene was dumbfounded to see them painting him black. His heart did hurt when the people relevant to him coldly abandoned him without hearing his side of the story, but he fortified his conviction to take down Allen no matter what, and with steady steps, he went on the complete what he abandoned half his life for.
After he brought the truth about Allen to light and everyone realized that they had misjudged him to be a bag guy, they began apologizing to him out of guilt.
Even though Arthur wasn't the type to blindly follow the crowd, he still decided to accept the rumors about Eugene after he saw him ganging up on a middle-aged man, not knowing that the person V. Samuel was kicking the ass of was none other than Allen's hired thug who was trying to steal the evidence of Allen's crimes away from Eugene.
Arthur helped the middle-aged man overwhelm Eugene. However, Eugene didn't fall into their hand. Before they could defeat and subdue him, he made a run for it and vanished into the darkness of the night. Only after everything cleared up did Arthur realize that he had wronged Eugene.
Thus, he was here to apologize to him.
"Although it was a misunderstanding on your part, I don't intend to hold you accountable. I am not such a cheap stake."
Eugene's own words sounded cool to him and everyone in the classroom, including the protagonist, towards whom he directed a blinding smile
His smile made him overflow with guilty.
He bowed his head even lower this time. "Once again, I would like to extend my apologies to you."
"It's alright." Eugene stretched his hand toward him. "Let's bury the hatchet and shake hands."
Arthur hesitated for a bit before grabbing Eugene's outstretched hand.
Since Eugene was willing to forget his mistake and forgive him, Arthur was very much happy to oblige.
"Well then, excuse me."
Eugene walked past the protagonist while feeling his thumping heart. He was Arthur's fanboy, but he didn't let it show on his face.
He sat down on a chair at the end of the classroom, which was next to a window.
Next to him was a student with a head full of blue hair, sleeping with his head buried in his arms that were on the table.
He couldn't see what he looked like as his arms covered his entire face.
While this person's hair was eye-catching, Eugene didn't look at him for more than two seconds.
He didn't want to appear rude to a stranger, so he looked away after thinking that, unlike the place he came from, this world does have many people with naturally shiny and colorful hair,
The classes were uneventful for Eugene.
He knew that the world as they knew it would come to an end pretty soon, so he didn't even try to show any interest in listening to the group of young and old teachers.
If he wasn't interested in studying, why was he in this classroom then?
