Ginny raced down the guildhall and up to the stairs after Yren had left and headed for her mother's office. Rephilia Caldorese was the head dispatcher for the guild and Ginny's mother.
Previously she had been solely in charge of one man, Tybrus, but once her daughter was old enough to join the guild, Ginny took over. Rephilia was also a strong Adventurer, and that was part of the reason why she had taken over for now Guild Leader, Marko Vas.
*Knock, knock!*
"Come in," Rephilia called, and her daughter came rushing into the room.
"He came!" Ginny blurted out after the door closed, her face still hot.
"Why are you not downstairs?!" Rephilia asked as she leaned forward with a dangerous look.
Ginny squeaked and flinched at her mother's razor-sharp glare, and she gulped before speaking.
"Tybrus's son came!"
"Oh? So?! STUPID! I told you to watch the desk for the novices! MARKO, GET DOWNSTAIRS AND DO LICENSES!" Rephilia roared like a dragon and stood up.
"Oh, my dearest lady, I would cross the endless seas for thee!" Marko Vas called as he ran down the hallway past Rephilia's closed-door laughing.
Rephilia let out a bestial roar and then smashed her hand down on her desk, smashing it in half. Ginny jumped behind a chair to hide from her mother's wrath, but this was the normal interaction with her mother.
"You told me to come to tell you about him as soon as he came!" Ginny cried out, but her mother was already sitting back in her chair using Earth Mending Magic on her desk.
"So, what was he like then? I know he has good grades, but what Magic and skills can he use? What is his potential?" Rephilia asked after her spell was done, placing her chin in her palm as she glared at her daughter.
"Well, he is Rank two already."
"What?! No, I don't want to know!"
"That's what I said, but he has no magic."
"What?! No, his father could use everything with Magic!"
"I know, but he can use all the skills, like say Hot Step at Rank two. Yren can use any skill of all elements, so I don't know what to make of it," Ginny said with a sigh.
"I want you to go with him and make strong babies."
"Sure I can… WAH?!" Ginny screamed as she realized what her mother had just ordered her to do.
"Hmm? He isn't horrible looking, and he will become strong! You want a good man to give you strong babies!" Roared Rephilia.
"Wah?! No! I mean, he is pretty cute, but I am not ready to have babies yet!" Ginny cried as she blushed furiously.
"Ha! You do like him! Don't defy your mother, or I will take you out back and make you run drills with me till my feet and hands bleed!" Rephilia declared as she stood up to tower over her daughter with a terrifying look.
"I will die if I have to follow a gorilla like you! I can't make him want me! You make babies with him!" Ginny screamed!
"Fine, I will, but that does not exempt you from his party!" Rephilia declared, stabbing a finger at her daughter's face, making the color drain from Ginny's face.
"Wait, what?! No, you can't sleep with him!" Ginny cried out but then burst into a blush as she realized what she had just said.
"Good, then it settled; you will become Yren's mistress and party member!" Rephilia declared, slamming her fist down on the desk, breaking it again.
Ginny groaned, it wasn't like she didn't like Yren, but this was too much all of a sudden. What was wrong with her mother?
Yren sneezed as he headed past his house and towards the Dungeon, nearly dropping his Dungeon License. That was the second bout of sneezes he had done since leaving the guild, but he was more focused on his new item.
"So, I can automatically store things in my inventory when an item is dropped by a monster. Can I have my inventory open and touch it with my right hand if I find something? That is pretty useful, but… is something broken?" Yren questioned out loud as he stared at his inventory size.
[Inventory size: 0/X]
Yren wasn't sure what that meant, but maybe the System thing his mother had blocked was doing something to it. He would have to wait until he got into the Dungeon and then check it again.
Soon Yren was standing in front of the Dungeon, but this was his first time all suited up. He looked down at the sword at his side and still wasn't sure about how he felt about it.
*Remember what your father said. I will be here to guide you through this Dungeon, and my children will teach you the ways of the Dungeon.*
Yren smiled and walked forward into the Dungeon, the torched on the wall lighting up again as he did. His whole life, his mother, had been nothing more than a fantasy, but to hear her voice guiding him was something surreal.
"Thank you, but am I going to be chasing Mika again?" Yren asked as he started to walk down the stairs.
*Yes, she is waiting for your rematch. Use your wits like before because Mika is too fast for you to catch outright for now. Try not to anger her too much; she can cause you serious damage still at this level.*
Yren grinned and nodded as he reached the bottom landing with the black doorway in front of him. Last time he had been tossed in, but he wanted to try Ginny's trick.
Taking one foot, Yren tried to stick his leg through the pure black barrier, and he did, but something was waiting for him on the other side. Before Yren's foot could touch down on the other side, he felt two hands grab it, and Yren groaned.
He was ripped off his feet and dragged through the black barrier once again. It wasn't quite the same, but Yren wasn't counting.
