"Umm, yeah, but I, uh, need to get stronger first," Yren stammered out.
"Good, um… Oh no! I did it again! I am so sorry!" Ginny cried as she jumped back, and her face burst into an even brighter shade of pink than before.
Yren was no better, but he couldn't say that he didn't enjoy it. Girls were not on his radar, but it wasn't like he wasn't aware of them; he was just trying to be the best Adventurer.
"Don't worry about it! Um, do you have any suggestions before I leave? I will be coming back most nights since my Dungeon is so close, so I can come and visit in the mornings to bring back what I find," Yren explained, and Ginny nodded, shaking her head to clear it.
"Yes! There are a couple tricks like stepping a single foot in a room and then bringing it back out will let you see what's in the next room. Your Dungeon License also has a storage feature that allows you to carry up to twenty cubic feet of items, but since you are Rank two, that is increased to twenty-five," Ginny explained, and Yren nodded.
"Thank you! I should get going," Yren said as he got up, accepting his license to put in his pocket.
"No problem, I am here anytime you need! I look forward to working with you!" Ginny said, and Yren nodded as he left the room and headed out of the guild.
This had gone far better than he could have expected. Hopefully, Yren's luck would keep up, but someone was watching him from a window as he walked away.
Clyde Starmond was the mayor of Bora and looked after the town, but there was more to the man than others knew.
"So that is his boy?" Clyde asked as he turned around to a cloaked figure.
"Yes, that is Tybrus' son. He had low stats but an Omni-Elemental Skill ability, but no Magic. He is not really anything remarkable, just like his father," The cloaked female figure replied, and Clyde nodded.
"While not that suspicious, I am still concerned that there is something going on with them. Yren was top of his class, just like his father, and they both turned out basic. That cannot be a coincidence! Kimora, I want you to befriend this body and seduce him to gain his trust," Clyde told the hooded figure.
"No," Kimora said flatly.
"Denied! Why must you always be such a difficult child! Do as your Papa says!" Clyde demanded of his daughter.
"I refuse. He is human, and I will not lower myself to befriend such an inferior beast!" Kimora shot back at her father.
"Gah! Do not make me go get your mother! I swear you need to understand that we need these creatures, as inferior as they are. I think this boy is important, and he might be the key, but I don't know," Clyde explained in a tired voice.
The lines had become so blurred after the war, and Clyde wasn't sure if there was ever going to be a way to recover from this. Things had all fallen apart before, and now they seemed to be stuck in an eternal conflict of their own making.
"We should just kill them, and we're done with it!" Kimora complained as she drew back her hood to reveal red skin.
"What did I tell you about going around without your transformation! Change now!" Clyde demanded, and Kimora sighed, and her skin shifted to tanned skinned.
"I will not spoil my body on some weak creature that is inferior to myself! I shall bear the child of a powerful Demon!" Kimora declared, clenching her fist.
"What if this human became stronger than a Demon?" Clyde asked curiously, and that seemed to catch his daughter off guard.
"What? Stronger? That isn't possible, is it?" Kimora asked, but she shook her head, saying, "What does it matter anyway?"
"Maybe, or maybe not. We are weak now from the last war, and if the Humans were to rise up again, we might not be able to make it again. You know what that will mean, right?" Clyde asked Kimora.
"We would have to trade places with the gods?" Kimora asked, and her father nodded.
"Yes, and the humans as well. I am worried that we made a mistake a long time ago, but if there is a chance for us to fix things, then I think we should be the one to make the first move!" Clyde declared, and Kimora sighed, but she still wasn't convinced.
Her father was an outcast among demons for his strange ideas and taking a human wife. Clyde's daughter was only half-demon, but she had grown up hating humans even though she was born after the last war.
"I still refuse to bed such a creature!" Kimora yelled at her father, and he groaned.
His daughter was far too strong-willed for her own good, but maybe he was asking too much too soon. A Demon such as himself was used to waiting for results but was used to failure.
"Then I would like you to try and become friends with him. Is that too much to ask of my only daughter that I love dearly?!" Clyde asked, trying to weasel over to Kimora to give her a hug.
"Stay away from me, you filthy beast! I will consider your offer, but I think you are stupid for even considering something like this! You know what will happen if someone else finds out about this!" Kimora declared, but Clyde just shrugged with a smile.
"He is suspicious, and I want you to keep tabs on the boy, nothing wrong with that. Stop overthinking things and start planning on how you will introduce yourself," Clyde told his daughter as she stormed out of the room.
Clyde walked back over to the large window he had been looking out before and let out another long sigh. His daughter was a handful, but she was a strong fighter with an anger problem.
"Twenty years I have been watching you grow Tybrus, and now it is your son's turn. I wonder just what kind of person you will turn out to be?" Clyde mused to himself.
If the demons kept on the path they were on, Clyde knew it would end up leading to ruin. This boy could be the one that starts the change or ends it all.
