Episodes 162. Wide Open Eyes

The building, which stood tall and sturdy, suddenly collapsed and burned into ruins. Everyone inside fell and scattered everywhere. That included me and Erika who has surely gone.

"Ghhh!" I tried to get up, relying only on my broken right arm.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Erika body was crushed by rubble. If her Anitya is activated, she may can regenerate herself. But...

I feel pain in my heart, but I hold it. I have promised her to end this. She sacrifice herself for me, so I gonna do same.

Nova has stopped Erika right when both of us charge toward her. Erika was killed right before that artillery was fired.

Code magic, everytime I remember that magic name, I feel burden in my heart. That magic was dangerous when other have it.

"I never expected them to attack..." The 'them' I referred to were the group of teachers I had previously sent running away in fear.

I couldn't believe they had the guts to return without thinking twice about their own lives, and moreover... it seemed they had no idea about this. They attacked blindly, hoping I (and maybe Nova) would be killed inside.

"Speaking of artillery, that was definitely an attack from a heavy weapon."

I didn't recall any teacher having military connections at that school. Not even a member of the royal family would possess such terrifying artillery. To purchase such a weapon would require a large sum of money, not to mention the cost of ammunition.

While diving deep into my thoughts, I tried to walk through the building's ruins. Fortunately, some foundations still stood, allowing me to hide behind them.

If you ask why I'm hiding, there are only two answers.

First, they (the teachers) would soon arrive. They wouldn't wait to see if it was safe here. Their hatred for me burned like a scorching pan.

Second, my current condition didn't allow me to fight. Although I could use CODE magic, if my opponent attacked before I finished chanting, it would be pointless.

*Tak...

*Tak...

*Tak...

The sound of my footsteps moved slowly past one foundation pillar after another.

The presence of the enemy was still unknown. My condition was worsening. If I didn't find a way to reactivate my Anitya soon, I was finished.

Wait...

I suddenly remembered something.

I reached into my pocket and pulled something out.

A long cylindrical object emerged. It was my brother's Pageblug.

"Does he have the answer?" I muttered, glaring at the Pageblug.

If meeting him would give me a way out, I wouldn't hesitate to do it. But if he did the opposite, it would be a problem for me.

Should I trust him?

"There's no time to think anymore!" I immediately dared myself to activate the Pageblug.

The coffin stood up and leaned against a nearby foundation pillar.

My seriously injured hand started moving toward the door of the coffin... trembling, full of stakes, and uncertainty.

However...

"Check around!" A man's voice shouted, swinging his flashlight.

The man stood atop the rubble to gain easy access to command his surroundings and to facilitate his search for me.

"Dear God... They're third year teachers; I'm not sure I can hide from them," I whispered in a resigned tone.

The teachers began to move and spread out, turning on their flashlights for illumination.

One person headed this way, and he didn't seem like the patient type. He was aggressive and brutal. Meri Andika, someone I desperately wanted to avoid right now. His brutality would be immediately unleashed if he saw my face.

*Tak! *Tak! *Tak!

Damn, he was getting closer.

I hoped he wouldn't see me.

If he saw me, my only choice would be to shoot him dead. Immobilizing him might sound humane, but it was impossible right now. Using magic would make a sound, which would attract other teachers.

His flashlight began to sweep around, searching for anyone hiding.

My mouth started chanting KODE magic, my eyes closed, hoping I wouldn't have to use it. My fingers formed a gun shape, ready to fire.

"Gyah!!!!" Suddenly, someone screamed from a distance.

That voice must have been from another teacher.

Meri immediately ran from this place, heading towards the source of the sound.

I, who had taken a position, immediately relaxed and breathed a sigh of relief. My eyes couldn't leave his retreating figure. My cautious was still high.

But after a while, he seemed to be gone. Luck was on my side today.

Not wanting to waste the opportunity, I quickly opened the coffin and entered without considering the consequences.

.......

Meanwhile, outside...

Meri ran out of the ruins towards their previous gathering spot. The scream he heard earlier had to be from that teacher. No one else screamed like that except Gus Natesh.

"Huh?! Wh-who are you?!" He could only be frightened for a moment as he reached the source of the sound.

A woman with white hair stood atop the rubble. In her hand, she held Natesh's neck, causing him to choke and struggle to breathe. On her back, Meri saw eight pairs of wings adorning her. Each wing was made of elements produced by Anitya.

Fire, ice, wind, lightning, water, earth, light, and darkness, all these elements formed the wings of the woman.

Meri could only gape and stare at the figure in silence. He seemed to be looking at an angel. No, he was seeing something more than an angel.

"All of you...!" The figure glanced at Meri with sharp, furious eyes. "How dare you come at me! It seems a death sentence isn't enough for you!"

The figure was angry. Perhaps she was angry because the building collapsed and hit her. That was roughly what Meri thought.

"Like I care!" Hermawan, the royal prince, raised his keris towards the figure, looking down on her.

"Don't you dare understimates us! We are scarier than you think!" The prince's courage was followed by the royal princess, Raden Ayu Kamila.

She confidently drew her royal bow, ready to shoot it straight at the figure's head.

"Even if you are a terrifying figure, we are still greater in number than you!" Leo took a stance, gripping two swords in each hand.

From the way they looked, they gave the impression that they had no idea who they were facing.

She was a figure surpassing Rasyid, even in her normal state. She was still a more terrifying monster than him. And now, she was in a more dreadful mode; their lives seemed to be numbered.

*Jdar!

Just before they made a move, Nova immediately blew off the head of the captive she was strangling without doing anything.

She just stared at him with a sneering, disdainful smile.

Natesh's headless body was thrown to the ground, left lying there.

Several seconds passed, but Anitya didn't immediately regenerate the man's body.

The three, who were full of arrogance and confidence earlier, fell silent and trembled seeing the headless body. Their confidence seemed to be shredded after seeing that.

*Jdar!

Hermawan's body exploded, leaving no part intact.

*Krak!

Leo's body dislocated, all his bones bent in the wrong direction.

"Arghh!" Kamila tried to run but failed.

*Burn!

Her body burned fiercely, accompanied by intense sparks of electricity.

"ARGHHHH!"

She felt excruciating pain from the flames and the electric shocks before death took her.

Her body rolled and convulsed, unable to distinguish whether she was trying to extinguish the fire or endure the shocks.

But it didn't take long; she stopped moving, indicating she was no more there.

Meanwhile, Meri, who had been in awe, could only watch her friends' deaths with an empty feeling. He felt strange; he, who was usually brutal and aggressive, was now silent and observing the figure.

"Is this what it means to be overwhelmed by the situation?" He muttered in emptiness.

He didn't know what he had just said, but his mouth seemed to move on its own, as if knowing that fighting back would only bring dead.

The figure looked at him and smiled, "You understand the situation well. So, as a Prince(Goddess), I should give you a gift."

Nova raised her hand, smiling like an angel. "Your gift... is a peaceful death!" But then, she clenched her fist.

Meri immediately collapsed slowly, her knees touching the ground first, followed by his entire body.

All the third year Physical teachers were slaughtered there. None survived to relay information about the figure. Soon, the others would come, and they would meet the same fate as the rest.

"Where are you, Rasyid? Why your aura is gone?" Staring at the night sky, Nova smiled proudly, as if knowing Rasyid wouldn't escape, even if he hid in the safest place.
