Silence stretched in between them, making Joyce wonder what she should say next. It had to be careful, deliberately sewed words together that would make her seem harmless, but also powerful at the same time.

Her words had to be a warning.

The moment Joyce opened her mouth, she realized that she had come up short, and not only that but Leon entered the room again.

This time he had a stack of papers in his hands.

Joyce did not like that. At all.

Her eyes left the stack of papers, and turned towards Michael, who had a pen already in his hand. A pen she would love to use on him.

"You," he gave the pen to Leon, "will sign the papers, wherever your name is."

"No." Her voice was firm and absolute. She was not signing anything he gave her.
