Chapter Five

The next few days have been a blur, mostly because the days have gone by quickly, each day being the same as the last. We go to that landfill place with Charlie in the morning, where Marley is waiting to take me and Bobby to the main house. It's the same cycle over and over again, Charlie keeps saying it's to keep us safe and away from Richard. But that doesn't mean that I can't complain, all we do is sit inside because according to Charlie, the outside world is too dangerous for us to enter alone.

I was just sitting crossed legged on one of the beds here, morning sickness was really getting to me but I had to act fine, Marley doesn't know yet as it's too early to tell anyone. Bobby was playing with a bunch of cars on the floor, while I was trying my hardest not to puke everywhere. Marley was just downstairs fixing something for lunch, I tried but the smell of that made me want to puke even more. Thankfully, Marley believed me when I said I had a stomach bug and sent me upstairs to rest.

I turn my head to look out the window when I spot something, at first I couldn't make out what I was looking at, but than I see Richard was stood at the edge of the garden fixing what looked like a gun. I immediately, get out of bed whilst grabbing hold of Bobby, bolting towards the door, I needed to get Marley.

"Marley, he's outside with a gun!" I shout down the stairs not really clarifying who the he was, I hear what sounds like a knife hit the floor before Marley was running up the stairs.

I'm pulled into what looks like a bathroom where the doors are locked, at the same time, sounds of loud glass smashing fills the house. I'm now pushed onto the floor with Bobby, which meant we were away from the windows.

"Charlie, Richards outside shooting up the house, hurry" Marley shouts down the phone as our windows smashes, I shield Bobby with my body as the glass begins to fall on us.

Bobby immediately starts to cry, as bullets start to fill the bathroom. Marley now bear huge both of us, pulling us to crouch behind the bathtub as holes just fill the bathroom walls. Now he knew we were in here, he wasn't gonna stop shooting.

In what feels like a lifetime, the shots stop and it all goes quiet, well apart from Bobby's cries that was filling the bathroom. Marley, holds his finger up slowly opening the bathroom. He tells me to wait here before he leaves to check if anyone was still in the house, he closes the bathroom door behind him. This meant me and Bobby were alone on the floor, I start bouncing him telling him it was gonna be okay.

Before he could fully calm down, four gun shots fill the house making him cry again. Immediately, my mind goes to Marley who went out to check what happened. Right after that, I hear the guys shouting and Charlie calling my name. Within seconds the bathroom door was open, Charlie standing in the doorway.

"Are you two okay?" He asks knelling down checking mine and Bobby's faces, before his eyes move down to my stomach worry on his expression.

"We're okay, where's Marley I heard more guns?" I ask looking up at Charlie with worried eyes, while he stands up taking Bobby out of my arms and helping me to stand.

"He's fine, he killed Richards men who came in the house" he explains checking to see if I was still okay now I was standing up, I once again confirm that I'm okay.

Once he confirms that I was indeed okay, he begins to lead us out the destroyed bathroom and into the rest of the destroyed house.

There were bullets and glass everywhere, with every step you took the ground would just crunch under you, it's lucky I kept my shoes on. As we make it to the stairs, I see Marley talking with the rest of the guys, thankfully there wasn't a scratch on him. Charlie helps me down the stairs, going a little overboard with every step I would take. Once we reach the button, I see the three guys Charlie was talking about. Thankfully, Bobby was facing the opposite direction but that didn't stop me from getting a little freaked out.

"Come on let's take you home, you guys check for anyone else around here" Charlie says to the guys before leading me and Bobby away and out of the main house, or what used to be a house.

I used to feel safe at home but since Richard, it's hard for me to feel safe there. I was starting to feel safe at the main house, now because of Richard I didn't anymore. Will I ever feel safe again?
