Wayne knew something was not right. After his near kiss with Megan, the air suddenly felt like everyone's eyes were on them. Not just him, but also the twins. They acted like everything was okay. Their body movements said otherwise.
Beta, we are being watched. It came from Nuru, who was excitedly talking to a vendor in front of him. All of them knew the dialect of the region. So it was easy for them to communicate. After all, being alive for more than a hundred years did have its perks.
Wayne! It was Rooka, and from the way he was shouting in his head, trouble was headed their way. Go back to the plane, now! For the love of... damnit Serena! Wayne could only close his eyes and breathe as he slowly spread his senses.
There were at least five enemies in the vicinity. They must have thought that Nuru and Layla were not too much of a threat. Then again, seeing how the twins are, who would have thought they were a threat to anyone.
Nuru, Layla, take care of the tail. I'll make sure Megan is safe. Wayne commanded.
Yes, sir! The twins replied.
Wayne only smiled and pulled Megan back to his side.
"WTF?! Wayne! I swear to -"
"I know, pet, I know. Bear with me. We need to go back," Wayne said as he started rubbing her shoulder absently. "There are a couple of tails the twins need to dispose of, and then we are clear to go."
"What about Rooka and - "
"Don't worry about them, Rooka was shouting at Rena a while ago. Your friend must have done something again."
"Knowing Rena? Yeah, she might," a small smile played on her lips, and Wayne could not help but smile back. Rooka needed someone as unpredictable as Serena Daire. With all the things that had happened to them before, they need that small amount of craziness these two people have brought.
As he guided Megan back to the plane, he could sense that the twins had made their move.

Nuru was never a fighter. He prefers to make some inventions or try his best to do daring stunts that no one wants to do. Hence he built "Devil's Dare," a company that deals with movie stunts and something along those lines. Layla was at the forefront while he acted as a PR of the company.
But right now, they did what any twin in Rooka's pack does best, protect.
They were surprised that they were able to quickly subdued the Black Weres that were following them. Something was not right.
Beta? We are done with the tails, but something is up. Nuru told Wayne on their link.
Yes. It was like they were expecting us too. Layla added.
Call the twins, not sure if Rooka had called them. Better be safe than sorry. Wayne told them.
He quickly called the twins, but being alpha as well, they knew something was up. When the call was answered, he could hear either Ted or Ed shouting in the background. "We have assholes!"
"Whose dealing -"
"Ed!!!"
That answered Nuru's question. "Deal with them, as long as you Ed can hold them off. We are on our way."
He didn't wait for the reply. He quickly disconnected the call and made a telepathic one to Wayne. The twin bears are in trouble. It looks like they wanted us to be stranded. Too bad they didn't know those two are alpha as well.
Nuru heard Wayne laugh on their link. Most of their enemies underestimate the alpha's pilots. The only ones who knew the true heritage of the bears were the main family and the people Rooka usually travels with. Which was them.
I'll tell Rooka what's happening. Head back to the plane and assist Ed. We don't want to call attention to ourselves. We are not in our territory. This is still Alpha Serena's verdict. We are not allowed to kill. Understand?
Yes.
Once the link ended, they quickly ran to where the plane was. What awaited them was something they rarely see.
Ed, in battle mode in human form. It was like watching The Rock wrestle but in a different setting. There was no blood, but some bodies were groaning on the ground.
And Ted?
He was standing guard by the entrance of the plane, recording his twin fight.
Nuru and Layla approached Ted and waited till all the Blacks were on the ground, unable to fight. Ed wasn't even sweaty. The smile on his face was enough to make them shake their heads because of his crazy antics.
"Had fun?" That was all Layla asked once Ed stopped.
He gave an enthusiastic nod before going back to their side. It didn't take long for Wayne and Megan to arrive. Wayne looked a bit more relaxed, but Megan? Nope.
Ted gave the camera to Ed so he could get the engine running. At the same time, the latter was busy showing everyone what he did.
After thirty minutes, they heard the sounds of the ATV, and when they saw how Serena was sitting in the vehicle, they were instantly alert.
The engine wasn't even turned off when Rena jumped off the ATV. She landed on both feet and quickly strode towards them. Nuru noticed that her eyes were fixed on Megan's as if she was trying to examine her friend.
"Godsdammit, Serena! Do you wanna get killed?!" His Alpha suddenly shouted. All of them winced because he used his alpha voice. The kind that makes everyone around him bow their heads in submission.
Since Rena is also an alpha, it didn't work. She just continued to walk in their direction. Serena stopped in front of Megan them asked, "Are you okay?"
"I'm good, bhe. Nuru and Layla took care of the tails. Ed finished the rest of them." Megan indicated the bodies lying on the ground.
"Ed? By himself?" Serena asked.
"Yup," Nuru answered, "Ted taped the whole thing."
"Did you not understand the Alpha's orders? No deaths," Kaz reprimanded them.
"They are still alive, Kaz," Layla answered.
Serena smiled, but it faded as soon she felt Rooka standing behind her. She knew that he was beyond mad, and she simply didn't care.
"We need to move before more of them arrive." Serena said, "I am still the alpha of this region, and you cannot preach me on my actions, Alpha Rooka."
