"Have you ever felt like I do? Have you ever felt like air? Why is it that I'm everywhere but nowhere at the same time? I'm always around but I can't help but feel so invisible like no one really sees me, like no one truly sees me, this red colour I wanted to paint myself with but I settled for an illusion of pink instead ." —Icychica_
The next morning around 7:00.am, I arrived at the museum together with Namjun as requested by Hanseok, he approached us the minute we entered. "Sagwa, I'm going to ask you a question and I want you to answer me honestly." Hanseok instructed, and I nodded. "Does anyone except us know that you have the Soul Curse?"
"No... why?" I asked, and he took us to the room where the Jewelry Box was stolen, crime scene tape was placed around the area as the police were still there investigating, we were instructed to watch our step with all the broken glass on the floor, normally civilians wouldn't be allowed on a crime scene but Hanseok had somehow convinced them that we worked with him.
"Look here, the case was broken and the glass was shattered on the floor around it, what I don't get is why they stole that Jewelry Box."
"What do you mean?" Namjun asked him to elaborate.
"Look around you, there's so many expensive art pieces here, so why only take that unfinished piece?" Hanseok said, bringing it to our attention.
"You're right, all of the others are left untouched, without a single scratch, so you're saying they wanted that specifically?" I asked and he nodded.
"That's exactly what I'm saying, if this was about money, he would have taken more, but he didn't, and look at this, he breaks some of the other casings and throws some paintings on the floor as if he's really trying to throw us off, but I'm not buying it, that's just my theory though." Hanseok continued to explain, pointing as he went.
"I agree with that theory." A male voice added, causing us to turn around, my eyes landed on Jinsoo as he approached us.
"Oh Detective Park." Namjun said with a smile when he saw Jinsoo, the three of them started greeting each other.
"I didn't know this was your case, I thought you worked on homicide."
"I do, usually, but for a reason I'd rather not get into, I'm working this case." he replied to Hanseok, hinting that he didn't want to give any explanation.
"Wait, you were a Detective?" I asked looking at his outfit, he was wearing all black: a turtle neck sweater, an over coat and long jeans.
My words made Jinsoo look at me, now noticing that I was there.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, giving me a disapproving glare, making Hanseok look at him puzzled.
"Why are you looking at Sagwa like that?" Hanseok asked.
"Like what?" he grumbled, his eyes never leaving me.
"Like you're staring at a criminal or something."
"Because I am, now answer my question, what are you doing here?" he repeated, rather harshly.
"Well I umm..." I stammered awkwardly.
"Hey, calm down Jinsoo, she's not a criminal." Namjun said.
"I don't know what you have against her, but I can say she's no criminal. I'm the one who called her here." Hanseok added, making Jinsoo give me one last run over with his eyes.
"Fine, whatever." he mumbled.
I took the awkward silence as a chance to look around again. "What about the security cameras?" I asked looking at the cameras on the ceiling.
"We already checked them, the guy was completely covered in black, he wore a mask and gloves as well, which is why they're no finger prints either." Hanseok replied to me and I nodded.
"Based on my experience, he seemed to know what he was doing, he avoided facing the cameras which indicated he knew where they were, my guess is that he probably came here before, when the museum was open and looked around, he was able to move swiftly in and out because of that." Jinsoo added.
"So you should check the security footage for the past week or month to see if there was anyone suspicious, maybe someone who was looking directly at the cameras and who checked inside the museum thoroughly or who came here multiply times." I suggested and everyone looked at me nodding.
"My thoughts exactly." Jinsoo agreed before clearing his throat avoiding my gaze. "Anyway, you guys should leave now, my team and I will take it from here." he instructed us and we obeyed, leaving the scene of the crime.
"I still find it a bit strange that someone broke in and stole that Jewelry Box soon after you revealed to me that you have the curse in your possession." Hanseok said to me as we exited the museum.
"I mean it could all just be a coincidence."
"Or a theft of convenience, since the jewelry box was easier to carry than the much larger paintings." Namjun added.
"You could be right, but if it was me and I knew the location of the Soul Curse, I definitely would steal the Jewelry Box too since they cost much more together. Imagine something no one else could find for centuries in your possession, that would without a doubt make you filthy rich." Hanseok said still coming up with theories.
"Well you guys are the only ones I've told so far. No one else should know."
"Still, I got a bad feeling something is going to happen soon." Hanseok still insisted making Namjun look at him.
"Don't jinx it. Oh right, hyung see if you can dig up any new information about this curse, myths, legends, old folk tales, anything at all would be great." Namjun requested and Hanseok nodded.
"Will do." he answered giving Namjun a smile and thumbs up.
"I have to go, there's someone I'm supposed to meet today." I informed them and they nodded before saying their goodbyes to me.
I was meeting the fashion designer whose fashion show I was arranging, she had actually contacted me first and now I was on my way to meet her at her Fashion Company.
Upon entering the company I was greeted by the staff as I walked through the hallways, I admired the structure and design of the building, there was also that all too familiar scent that greeted me, one I had missed, the smell of fabrics and the smell of leather.
