Reaching the Destination-3

"Captain Duffy, could you remind me, why am I doing this?" David asked annoyingly. He had been sitting beside the steering wheel, in a lotus position with his eyes closed for 2 hours now. Captain Duffy instructed him that he is supposed to be meditating rather than doing any physical training for now.

Captain Duffy was standing by the steering wheel and guiding the ship in the right direction. He sighed as he heard his question and said…

"You are doing this because you can't control your eyes. To control them you must first learn how to control and channel mana that is being collected inside your body. To channel and control your mana, you must locate its source inside your body. For that, you need to meditate." Captain Duffy said while he looked at the compass by the steering wheel.

According to Captain Duffy, awakened ones have the power to utilize mana. In order to utilize mana, an awakened one first must learn how to control mana. So he taught David some Yogic exercises that would help him in locating the source of his mana.

David used to do Yoga in his previous life. That is why he didn't face any problems while performing different poses. The difficult part was to feel the mana in his body. It took him a few days, but by the end, he was finally able to learn, how to control mana stored inside his body. And because of this many changes occurred in his body.

His mana was stored in the right-hand side chest of his body. With practice, he was eventually able to control mana in his body. As well as he was able to channel mana throughout his body without much problem. After David attain some mastery in channeling his mana, it was then Captain Duffy gave him a hint that he should try to see the effects of pumping mana through his body. And the results that he got as very astonishing…

While channeling mana through his body, David felt that he was faster and stronger than before. Captain Duffy didn't give him an explanation of this phenomena as he would study magic in dept in school. So there is no reason for him to tell him about this phenomenon. But he did advise him that he should keep on practicing it over and over again.

The rest of the week went by in a blink of an eye. In the week's time, David prepared himself for the journey ahead. He started training his body as well as practiced channeling mana through his body. As he was getting nutritious food, because of the courtesy of Captain Duffy, his training took off in style. Captain and George were also kind enough that they gave him a set of new clothes as his old ones were thrown away after the cleansing.

People on the boat started giving him a cold shoulder, but he anticipated this. He knew that people would be upset as they would eventually find out that he is a Siberian.

To his surprise, the mercenary couple Hope and Dan remained the same. When he asked them about it, they told him that they live in Faction. And there are tons of Siberian there. So they don't really care whether he is a Siberian or not. Using this as an opportunity he bonded with them and gather as much information as he could from both of them.

According to the information that they gave him, Faction is a country formed when 7 great families came together and joined their lands. But after some years two of the great families mutinied and broke themself from the alliance. From that day, those two families formed a kingdom called Siberia. Since then Siberia is ruled by a monarchy and it had its share of bad rulers. In the past, those bad rulers made various bad decisions which led to wars and famine. That is why Siberia is one of the most hated countries in the surrounding area.

On the other hand, Faction flourished because its government was run by a council. The council consists of the heads of different great families who are still in alliance to this day...

As the days went by, David thought hard about what he should do next. He needs to find out more about this world. Also, he needs to find his targets. So in the end he decided that he should try to get into the fancy school of the awakened ones. Those schools could provide him with knowledge. And as he can travel back in time, he wouldn't be wasting any time there.

The thought of going to school made him puke. He was essentially an old man in his previous life. And as an aged man, he didn't like someone telling him what to do or what not to do. But he needed to gather some knowledge about this world before he makes any moves. Thus going to school was important.

From what he had learned from couples, these schools have big libraries that contained all the essential knowledge of this world as well as of magic. As this world doesn't have google, David had to improvise and learn at his own pace…

After one week of traveling by sea, on the dawn of the 7th day, passengers of The Lady were finally able to see their destination. All the passengers came to the deck of the ship early in the morning to witness the end of the journey…

While on the other hand, David stood in front of the mirror staring at himself. While standing in front of the mirror, he was thinking about whether he looked creepy or not. He wanted to see for himself the so-called process of morphing. It took him some time to learn how to control his mana. And his hard work paid off as he was able to see the process live…

Captain Duffy already gave him a clue that his eyes morph when a certain change occurs in his emotions or a person sends mana to his eyes. To see the process live, David trained for a week to get some control over his mana. Now as he had some control he wanted to try it out. He stood in front of the mirror and started controlling the mana and sending it to his eyes.

And sure enough, after trying for a good 30 mins, he was finally able to see the results of his hard work. His pupils started contracting. After morphing, David's eyes became similar to that of a cat. Seeing them he didn't whether to be creeped out or not.

The eyes seemed like a superpower, but in the end, it was a useless thing. When David asked Captain Duffy about the function of these eyes, he wasn't able to tell him anything about those eyes. As he didn't know himself.

Despite that Captain Duffy and his son were a helpful duo. They gave some spare clothes to David as his old ones got ruined in the cleansing…

When The Lady was docked at the port of Valgoore, the sailors brought fitted the ramps at the side of the ship. Then all the passengers got off the ship and in they went. One of the passengers that came off the ship was wearing a white shirt with brown pants. This passenger was David who borrowed a new fresh pair of clothing from George.

The port of Valgoore was a huge place where several ships were docked at once. This place was clean, but it also smelled very bad. David saw that people were wearing what looked like white color leather armor roaming around the dock. Seeing them, he understood that this must be the security of this place. The most interesting thing about this place was the different types of people that were roaming on the dock.

When getting off the ship, David saw a few Mermen like Gupalo roaming around the dock. They were a colorful bunch but they had the same feature as Gupalo. He also saw some beings which looked like humans but had pointy ears. While there were some beings whose physical features resembled that of animals. While looking around, David did see a bi-pedal being who had fur all over his body. That creature had a face like that of a dog while his body shape was like that of a man.

Seeing such weird beings made David once more remember that this world is not earth. Although this world and Earth have a lot of similarities, still they are two very different planets. After getting off the ship, David started wandering around the port, and then he went inside the city. The architecture of the city was very similar to building in the Victorian era. The streets were very clean, there were footpaths by the side of the road for the pedestrians. While the main road was mainly used by carriages and carts.

The people on the streets were also wearing suits like they use to wear on earth. Seeing the suits, David started to think that maybe this world was too similar to that of Earth. He started thinking that there might be a possibility that this place is like an alternate dimension that is similar to Earth…

While walking, David eventually came across a small market located in the alleys of the big city. Seeing the small market, David went inside. This market had everything from meat to veggies. Some stalls were selling dried roots and twigs.

As David was walking leisurely in the market, he didn't pay much attention to his surroundings. If he would have done that, then he would have noticed a young boy that came running into the market. As soon as he saw David's white color shirt and brown pants, he started running towards him. And before David could anticipate anything, the boy tackled David from the back

David fell to the ground hard. He tried to make sense of what happened, but then the boy that tackled him in the first place started punching David in his guts….
