Once again, the devil comes to the rescue

It's finally here.

I look in the devil's direction.

Who knows, this might be the last time I see the entity that took me from my peaceful life and thrust me into this world of chaos.

"What are you still waiting for?" The demon growled.

I gave him the stink eyes as I took him in for the third time since he walked into the ring. The odd purple demon with hair as long as his limbs looked more like a comical character from afar, but up close, he looks devilish.

The female who made me step into the ring gave me an indecipherable look as she scurried to the other end of the ring, her pink eyes trained on me.

"Waiting for you to take a step first, "I said in a bored tone as I motion for him to come closer.

"You!" He stomped his right foot on the floor, and spurts of water came from it.

At the last minute, I jumped in time to avoid the water from touching my skin.

"You dare not!" I bring out my sword and elongated it until it became a normal sword. "I'll show you never to mess with the prince of doom —nice name, isn't it? I conned it myself—"

"Prince of doom?" The demon laughed, "it's more going to be the prince of chickens." He came closer to me, aiming to send his fire toward me, but I intercepted it with the sword.

Flying at him— don't ask how possible this is— I hit him with the hilt of the sword, and he stumbled a bit.

Only to right himself once more. He knocked on to my side and sent me sprawling to the floor.

The spectators all looked at us with batted breaths as they tried to determine the outcome of the fight.

"Get up from there, and make use of my powers. Don't make me regret ever sharing them with you."

The devil's voice boomed in my head, startling me a bit.

But it came at the time I needed it. It woke me up right at the time the demon sent streaks of fire toward me.

I raised my hands to block the fire, but instead of only blocking the fire as I hoped, it sent the fire back to the Demon that sent it.

"Argh!" The Demon growled as the fire burned his skin. His howls and groans can be heard in the otherwise silent arena.

With the demon momentarily stunned, I stood from the floor and dusted my clothes.

I wiped the blood on my mouth; one that was caused when I bit my lips during my fall.

The demon turned to me in anger. His eyes which were once a normal violet colour took a very deep red colour; a colour that signifies danger.

"You!" He raced towards me at a speed I couldn't keep up with. Before I knew it, I found myself on the floor with the demon hovering over me.

"His left leg is his weakness. All you have to do is send my fire towards it. And make sure you do that at the same time you rise from the floor. This way, it'll stun him."

The Devil's voice came in a second time.

I did Just as he instructed.

With the demon howling, I'm victory, I discreetly raised my feet. Slipping off from under him, I sent my fire at him at the same time I rose from the floor.

I deflected the fire he sent towards me. Blocking it, I sent more bolts of fire towards him as I flew up.

Landing on my feet, I watched as the Demon loudly howled for the last time before he fell to death.

Truth be told, I felt no remorse at all. Not even pity came close to the emotion I'm feeling.

After all, he planned to kill me first. Killing him is the only way I can leave this ring alive. It's the only ticket out of this place I got myself into.

Not only will this be my ticket out of here, but it's the only way I can make my fame supersede me.

The entire place was as silent as a graveyard. No one made a move. Not even the little ones who were watching the fight made any move to say anything.

The entire place was just quiet.

"The winner of the match is the human!" The owner of the ring announced, and that broke the spell on the demons.

Some of them clapped, while those who were rooting for the demon I just defeated, hung their heads in defeat.

I'm sorry.

I thought at those who were rooting for the dead demon.

I had to win this, or I would have been in the same situation as the demon lying on the floor.

"Do you have anything to say?" He asked.

"I don't—"

"It's a tradition, actually. Anyone who wins the match of the day must say something to the audience." He points at the demons who were looking at me as if I'm the odd one among us.

"Oh." I thought about what to say, and that was why I remembered the girl I fought for. A girl who'll now have the right she so deserves."

" I want to—"

" Watch out!" I heard the devil shout at the same time the entire group gasped.

Just in time, I turned, only to find the female I helped struggling on the floor, a sharp dagger in her palm.

The Devil stood behind her, a pissed off expression on his face as he gave her a look that conveys the anger he feels.

"What—"

"You should learn how to protect yourself. Don't only see the enemy in front of you. Always watch your back for backstabbing bitches."

" I—" I stood there, speechless, as I thought about what just happened right now.

Did the female I tried to help get the level she deserves, just attempt to stab me?
