Into the ring

"A female?" I gasped. "What's a female doing in that ring?" I look at the said ring, and back at the devil, who doesn't look like he cared about the poor human in there.

"You need to ask her what she's doing in here. Moreover, she's not a full human. Can't you see her hair?"

At his mention of the hair, I took a brief look at her hair and found out she has three colours of hair. The stripped colour made her look deadly, but the female herself doesn't look as fierce and deadly as her hair.

"That demon is going to kill her!"

"Then so be it. I'm not concerned about the petty lives of demons fighting to move up the line.

Does she want to move up the line? She has to fight to the death with her opponents."

" You don't care? " I gave him a look of disbelief. " A female is out there trying to fight to the death, and you're not concerned about it?"

" Why should I be concerned? Does she want to fight to the death? She can go ahead. I'm not trying to stop her or anything of that sort." The devil relaxed on his chair, and so did the others.

None of them attempted to voice out the fact a female is out there setting out to fight for her life.

"You need to stop this! You can't allow them to do this to her."

"And why should I stop this when she as a female has a shortcut to changing her destiny, but she preferred not to take it."

" And what's the shortcut?" I raise a brow at him. I already have an inkling of what the shortcut might be, but I wanted to hear it from him.

" She can choose to marry any demon of her choice. All she has to do is try to find the level she wants to belong to, and boom, a husband comes knocking. "

"Not everything is about getting a husband." I frown at him as my eyes went back to the battle arena. Just in time, I watched the male Demon punch the female demon.

" Stop!" Unable to stop myself, I rushed toward them, and before I knew it, I was already inside the battle ring.

" Human! " The devil called out to me, but I ignored him as I walk straight to the Demon, who threw the poor girl on the floor.

The entire place that was once noisy as they both fought is now as silent as a graveyard as they all paused to watch me.

"How can you be heartless? She is only but a female! Must you hit a female just to prove you are ready to move to another level?" I tug my hair in frustration as I darkly glare at him.

How can someone act as foolish as he did? Even to the extent of throwing a female to the floor.

"This isn't how things are done. You don't hit a woman all for proving your competency.

"You want to duel with me?" The demon roared, "are you challenging me?"

"Yes, I am!" I shouted back in anger, not aware of the fact I'm already signing a fight with the demon.

You can say I got blinded by the anger I feel right now.

"Human!" The devil roared in anger as he appeared in the ring.

Turned out, the first time the Devil appears in a ring is to drag my stubborn butt out of this ring.

I didn't turn to the king, instead, I kept my glare on the demon. My eyes challenged him.

"Let's go." The devil takes my hand in his and made to walk out of the ring.

"My king," the owner of the ring, ran to the devil's side.

"What's it?" He growled at him.

"You can't take him out of the ring. As a rule, anyone who has joined a challenge must go through it, or face execution."

I shiver, the execution word. My heart picked up a beat at the sound of the words. It felt as if my heart wants to lunge out of my chest.

"Are you trying to tell me the law also applies to a Human?"

"Yes, my Lord, it does apply to everyone. You were the one who wrote and implemented those words.

You were the one who made the law above yourself."

" In that case, I challenge you to fight the demon on behalf of this human."

" Devil!" I frantically tug on his shirt.

" I'm afraid you also can't join the fight, my Lord. It was still written in your law, you can't break it. That I am afraid of."

At his words, the Devil glared at me, his words seem to translate into" you see what your mouth caused you."

"Okay." He patted me on my shoulder.

But the pat wasn't an ordinary one. Just like he did during our fight, he transferred some of his powers to me.

"Make good use of it. Defeat that demon, and make me proud. Right now, you're my image. Anything you do in this ring reflects on me."

I gave him a curt nod.

I might look confident on the outside, but inside, I'm only but a shivering mess as I glare at the Demon I'm to fight with my side-eye.

Back at the place I was sitting with the Devil, he looked small compared to how he is now.

"Let the fight begin then." The devil said to the owner of the ring before he disappeared, only to appear back in his position on the right side of the ring.

"It's time for us to watch a fight. One none of us have ever seen since we were either created or birthed!"

The crowd boomed like never. Their shouts are more deafening than the ones they gave when the first set of fighters came out.

"It's time for us to watch the epic fight of the day. A fight between a demon and a human!"

The Demon smirked at me as he made a come here kind of motion.
