Truth be told

Kathryn drew her gaze from his hand holding hers to his dark eyes. "Please Kathryn," he had that desperate face though. The white girl settled her gaze to the ground and nodded her head.

"You won't scold me ever again," she gave her condition.

"It's a promise," he uttered.

The girl stared at him for a while with his huge hand swallowing hers. "So..." She took her eyes away and waited for him to complete the attempt.

"Let's go to the bakery," was his suggestion.

"The bakery," she muttered to herself and nodded before pulling her hand out of his. With that, he turned her to the bakery. "You know," she decided to say something when it was deafening silent. "When you told me about spending a night to earn money..." She looked at him. "I didn't know the meaning that was why I acted that way and I was hurt because I was hit. Hit due to me lacking the knowledge." She glanced at him. "That was when I wanted to hate you," she told him.
