Reasons

"Wura, we need to talk" said Lawrence as he called for Wura as soon as she came inside and she closed the door behind her.

"Yes father" said Wura softly as she bowed her head, she knew that this was going to happen, she took off her coat and gloves and she accepted her fate, this was all that prince's fault.

"You too Ireti, we need to have a family meeting" said Lawrence as he did not sound happy at all.

And he was not, who would be, when their daughter suddenly accepted the marriage proposal of a man that she never met before, not to talk about the fact that he was a Prince, that did not matter at all, what made Lawrence upset was that Wura changed their plan of rejecting his offer.

"Can you please both tell me what happened there?" asked Lawrence as he, Ireti and Wura were all sitting together in the drawing room.

"What happened Wura??" asked Lawrence.

"I thought that we had both agreed that you would reject the offer of the prince?" asked Lawrence as he was extremely upset.

"Now, imagine my surprise, when you suddenly accept his offer" said Lawrence.

"It will be much more difficult to break the engagement, now that you have said with your own mouth that you would marry him" said Lawrence as Wura kept her head down.

"Ireti, did you have anything to do with Wura's decision?" asked Lawrence as he turned to look at her.

"No Lawrence, I did not" said Ireti as she shook her head, she was not the one that told Wura to go and accept the Prince's offer of engagement, she had expected her to stand her ground and say No herself, but then here they were.

Lawrence did not know what to believe, from the little he could make up from the conversation he heard between Wura and Ireti, he had heard Ireti say one of her famous quotes, which was that a woman always had to be strong.

He did not know if that encouraged, or convinced Wura to accept the engagement, and if it did, then he was just going to break it up for her anyway, because she had told him herself that she did not want to get married, that she was still very young.

"Wura please tell me why you accepted the Prince's engagement?" asked Lawrence as he calmed himself down and he looked at Wura, he knew that scolding her would not do anything, the damage was already done, and the best thing for him to do was to listen.

Listen to her and her worries and reasons because that was what a father did, he was there to listen to the pleas of his children, and Wura's case was not any different.

"Father" said Wura as she looked up.

"Father, I have many reasons for why I did what I did" said Wura as she found her voice.

"But one of those reasons was because of you" said Wura.

"Me??" asked Lawrence as he could not understand what he had to do with her decision to accept it.

"Yes father" said Wura as she nodded.

"Father, I do not want any problems to be caused for you, just because of me and my mistake" said Wura as she spoke with confidence.

Wura had thought it through, and she was sure that she had made the best decision that she could make, she did not want her father to end up having to choose between his loyalty and duty to the Kingdom as a Duke, and his loyalty and his duty to her as her father.

"I do not want you to have to choose between your service to the Kingdom, and your service to me as your daughter" said Wura.

"Look Father, there is no doubt in my mind that you truly care for me, and love me ,and want the best for me" said Wura as she smiled.

"You show me that every single day, and I am grateful for that" said Wura as she smiled.

"But I am a woman" said Wura as she looked at her mother.

"And I have to learn that there are somethings that need to be solved by yourself personally" said Wura.

"Which is why Father, I please urge you to trust me decision and please allow me to work things out for myself, because I surely know what I am doing" said Wura, even though deep inside she did not know at all.

Lawrence sighed, it was a deep sigh, he knew that Wura was right, she was a woman now, but she would always be his little girl.

"Look my dear" he said as he looked at Wura.

"I trust your judgment completely" said Lawrence.

"I just worry for you my dear, just like any other father would worry about his child" said Lawrence.

"I know that you are a woman, but to me, you will always be my little girl, the baby I held in my arms for the first time eighteen years ago" said Lawrence as he smiled and Ireti and Wura smiled.

"But as I said earlier, I will support you in anything you decide" he said.

"And as long as you surely know what you are doing, then that is alight by me" he said.

"Do not just forget that if you ever need my assistance in anything, I will always be there with open arms ready to assist you" he said with a smile.

"Aww father" said Wura as she stood up and rushed to hug her father, she felt like she was going to cry at any moment now.

"I love you my little Wura" said Lawrence as he smiled brightly.

"And I love you too father" said Wura as she smiled, and Ireti smiled, these two were inseparable, she would have been jealous of their relationship of not for that fact that she was the woman that birthed Wura, and she knew that Lawrence had a great love for her that could never ever be broken, so she just let the father and daughter pair in peace.
