A gift

Wura was surprised, yes she was very surprised, she did not expect this at all, it meant that Liam had read her letter, so he decided to write one back to her, the thought just made her feel a certain way, she did not know if she felt happy, relieved, or something else.

"My Queen" called Nora as she snapped Wura out of her thoughts and she turned to look at Nora.

"Are you alright my Queen?" asked Nora.

"Ah… well yes Nora… I am fine" said Wura as she replied and she looked at the letter in her hand, a part of her wanted to open it, while another part of her did not want to, it was then that she remembered just how too personal her letter was, at that moment, she did not care at all, she was burdened with worry, but now that she had calmed down, she realized that she had overstepped her boundary.

"My Queen, you do not look fine at all" said Nora as she replied, Wura was a very easy person to read, all her emotions appeared on her face.

"I am just… thinking Nora" said Wura as she looked at Nora.

"His Majesty did read my letter" said Wura.

"My Queen, was that not what you wanted?" asked Nora as she could tell that Wura did not seem pleased at all.

"Well yes… Nora" said Wura as she replied.

"I did want him to read the letter I sent him" said Wura.

"But you do not seem happy that he read it my Queen" said Nora.

"Well it is no that Nora, no far from it" said Wura as she shook her head.

"I just realized that I might have gone too far with what I wrote in the letter" said Wura as she sighed, she really had to stop acting on impulse, because now she felt so stupid.

Wura looked at Nora, she could see that Nora was confused and she did not know what she meant when she said that she went to far.

"The thing Is Nora… I told his Majesty that I care for him, and that he needs to take care of himself" said Wura as Nora nodded her head.

"You do not see anything wrong in that?" asked Wura.

"Well yes my Queen, you do care for him?" asked Nora as she was not certain.

"Well yes… I care for him, but he might misunderstand what I meant by care, it Is just concern and nothing more" said Wura as she sighed.

"My Queen, may I speak freely?" asked Nora.

"Go on Nora" said Wura.

"Well my Queen, in my opinion, you will never truly know what he felt of your letter until you open his letter" said Nora as that was the truth, she wondered how she now became the advisor to the Queen, it was not a position that she wanted to have.

But then again, she also understood Wura, she was the only one that knew the true nature of the relationship that Liam and Wura had, it was not love, but rather obligation.

"*Sigh*, Well yes Nora, you are right, I am just making matters even worse by sitting here and thinking instead of actually reading what is in the letter" said Wura as she sighed.

"Thank you Nora, you always know what to say to make me think properly" said Wura as she smiled at Nora.

"I live to please you my Queen" said Nora as she smiled and she bowed her head, she was happy as long as she could help Wura in any way she could.

"Well here goes nothing" said Wura as she sighed and she looked at the letter as she tore open the envelope and she began to read the letter as it read…

"Thank you for your concern Wura, I really do appreciate it, no one has ever considered sending me a letter like yours before.

I assure you, that I will do as you say, and I will take better care of myself. And I hope that you are doing well.

Thank you once again for your kindness.

Yours truly

Liam"

Wura finished reading the letter, it was short, unlike her epistle, another thing she was embarrassed about, she had written him too long of a letter.

"What does it say my Queen? If I may ask?" asked Nora as Wura turned to look at Nora.

"Well he thanked me for writing him a letter" said Wura.

"And he assured me that he will take good care of himself" said Wura as she smiled, she felt happy, because he had listened to her, and also he appreciated her gesture, it made her feel nice.

"Are you happy my Queen?" asked Nora as she smiled.

"Of course I am very happy, I do say that I was thinking on this too much, when there was nothing to be worried about at all" said Wura as she laughed at herself.

"Well you cannot blame yourself my Queen" said Nora as she smiled and Wura smiled at her, she wondered what she would have done with Nora always being by her side.

"Nora, I would like to write another letter" said Wura as she smiled.

"Alright my Queen, I shall get all you need" said Nora as she smiled.

"Thank you Nora" said Wura as she smiled.

"You are welcome my Queen" said Nora as she smiled and she nodded her head.

"Someone seems to be in a good mood" said Mero as he walked into Liam's office and he saw Liam sitting on his desk with a smile on his face as he worked.

"And I have not seen you all day Mero" said Liam as he looked up and he smiled as Mero sat in front of him.

"There were some personal matters I needed to tend to" said Mero as he replied.

"I see" said Liam as he did not want to pry any further, he knew that Mero did not like talking about his family at all.

"But like I said, you are looking happy" said Mero as he raised an eyebrow.

"You have been very grumpy lately, so I wonder what put you in a good mood" said Mero.

"Well is it that obvious?" asked Liam as he smiled.

"I think you need to look at yourself in the mirror when you are in a bad mood, it is very obvious" said Mero as Liam laughed.

"You have been waiting to say that, have you not?" asked Liam.

"It has been on my mind for a while now" said Mero as he replied.

"Well Wura wrote me a letter" said Liam as he smiled.

"Oh she did?" asked Mero as he was surprised, he had not expected her to write a letter to Liam.

"Yes she did" said Liam.

"And is that what Is making you so happy?" asked Mero.

"Yes, it is… because I know that she cares for me, even though I do not deserve it, I have avoided her, and yet she wrote a letter to me, telling me to take care of myself" said Liam as he smiled.

"Well she is very thoughtful" said Mero.

"Yes she is" said Liam as he smiled.

"But I do have one question" said Liam.

"And that is?" asked Mero.

"I wonder how she knew that I was supposedly not taking care of myself well?" asked Liam as he looked at Mero suggestively, he was the only one who kept on nagging him to stop drowning himself in work.

"I happened to meet her yesterday on my way to the Library" said Mero.

"I never took you as the reporting type Mero" said Liam as he laughed.

"I am not usually" said Mero.

"But she asked about you, she wanted to know how you were doing, and I could not lie to her, I only told her the truth" said Mero as he replied honestly.

"I see" said Liam as he smiled and Mero nodded his head, at least now he had someone higher to report Liam to, it was clear that Liam cared for Wura's opinion very much.

"I do not deserve her kindness, I have not been very nice to her as of late, and yet she worries about me" said Liam as he sighed.

"Well you learn as you go on" said Mero.

"Is that not the truth" said Liam to himself as he sighed.

"I wrote her a letter in return" said Liam as Mero looked at him.

"I believe that she must have read it by now" said Liam.

"Which reminds me, I have come to the realization that I have not gotten her a gift" said Liam.

"How do you mean?" asked Mero.

"Well since we got married, I have not gotten her anything" said Liam as he smiled.

"My Father gifted her my mother's necklace, and well I have given her nothing" said Liam, it was tradition between Royals to give one another gifts, it was especially important for the husband to give his wife a gift, preferably not too long after they had gotten married.

The thought completely skipped his mind, and he and Wura had been married for three months now.

"Ah I see" said Mero.

"The problem is that I do not know what to gift her" said Liam.

"Do not all women adore jewellery?" asked Mero.

"Well not her" said Liam.

"She told me herself that she did not care for materialistic things such as jewellery" said Liam as he smiled, while they were still courting, she pretended like she was materialistic, and then some times she would pretend like she was not, but Liam knew that Wura was a simple woman, he could see it in the way she spoke, the way she smiled, she loved simplicity.

"Then what do you have in mind to gift her?" asked Mero.

"I have no idea" said Liam as he smiled.

"Well what does she like?" asked Mero as he was trying to help his friend, he could tell that Wura made Liam happy.

"Well she loves to read and paint" said Liam as those were the only two things he could think of at the moment, which made him realize that he still did not know much about her, he did not know her likes and dislikes, her fears and her loves.

"I suggest you get her something within those lines" said Mero.

"I do agree with you Mero" said Liam as he smiled.

"Anyway, on to more serious matters" said Liam as he smiled.

"The East's supply of Iron, how has it been faring?" asked Liam as the once happy smile on his face was now gone and he looked very serious.

"They appear to be constant, and well they seem satisfied with the treaty so far" said Mero.

"Well that is good, the more they abide by the rules of the treaty, we will have no reason not to keep to our end of the treaty" said Liam as he sorted some files on his desk.

"Oh and that reminds me, I heard that Elihu was summoned to the great Hall earlier today" said Liam as he suddenly remembered, he had been informed about that in the morning, but he was not able to make time out to see what the matter was.

"Yes, I was also informed, but I do not know why he was summoned at all, I will speak to him later" said Mero as he was curious, there were rare case of Knights being summoned to the Great Hall, and it would seem that Elihu's summon was not a friendly one.

"Yes please do, and tell me once you know what happened" said Liam as he looked at Mero.

"I will" said Mero.

"Is that all?" asked Mero.

"Yes, that is all, you may go now Mero" said Liam as he smiled.

"Alright then, I will see you later Liam" said Mero as he stood up.

"See you" said Liam as he smiled and Mero walked out of his office as Liam got back to work.

Liam sighed, he looked outside his office window, it was already evening, he had lost track of time while he was here working.

Liam was just about to carry on working, until he remembered that he had assured Wura that he would take care of himself, and that entailed him eating dinner at the right time, for the past few days, he had been missing dinner, mostly because he had not been feeling hungry, and he still did not feel hungry, but as he had promised, he had no choice than to go eat dinner.

He would have eaten dinner here in his office, if not for the fact that he had many important documents that he did not want to ruin, so he decided that he would just eat in his room, he was sure that Wura was done eating dinner by this time.

Liam sighed as placed the feather he was writing with on his desk, and he stood up as he walked out his office door.

"My Queen, I have returned" said Nora as she smiled and she walked into Wura's room.

"Welcome back Nora" said Wura as she smiled at Nora and she was sitting on her new, not so new couch.

"My Queen, I have done as you asked" said Nora as she smiled.

"Did you happen to see his Majesty?" asked Wura.

"Well no my Queen" said Nora as she shook her head.

"Alright then, Thank you Nora for everything" said Wura as she smiled.

"You are welcome my Queen" said Nora as she smiled.

"Goodnight my Queen" said Nora as she smiled.

"Goodnight Nora" said Wura as she smiled and Nora smiled as she left the room.
