Favourite nephew

Wura sighed, she had noticed that she had been doing a lot of sighing these days, maybe she was just stressed or tired, or both.

Wura walked to her dressing table, and she sat down as she looked at herself in the mirror and she began to brush her hair.

She was just tired, it was clear that everyone wanted her to have a child, some were subtle about it, while others just came out with it, but becoming a mother, and having a child was the last thing on her mind right now, she was only eighteen, she would soon be nineteen.

And besides, it was not like Liam and here were in a real relationship that would warrant them to have children, it just was not done, not at all, she was still young, she had much more things to do than to suddenly become a mother, but it would seem that no one else understood that.

To tell the truth, Wura was curious of what Liam's answer would be to all these questions about babies, would he want one?? Or not, or maybe he did not care, what was she even thinking about now, her mind had wandered far too off.

"My Queen, I have returned" said Nora as she smiled and she walked into the room as she snapped Wura out of her thoughts.

"Oh, welcome back Nora" said Wura as she smiled and she saw Nora walk towards her through the mirror.

"Thank you my Queen" said Nora as she smiled.

"My Queen, are you alright?" asked Nora as she could see that Wura was looking… sad?

"Yes Nora, I am alright, I am just thinking" said Wura as she brushed her hair.

"What are you thinking of my Queen?" asked Nora.

"Well Nora, just about my life, and everything else" said Wura as she sighed.

"I see my Queen" said Nora.

"Yes" said Wura.

"My Queen, would you like me to assist you with your hair?" asked Nora as she smiled.

"Sure, you can Nora" said Wura as she smiled, her hand was already getting tired of brushing her hair, she wondered how Nora could enjoy taking care of her own hair more than she did.

"Alright my Queen" said Nora as she smiled and Wura handed her the hairbrush as she took it and she began to brush Wura's hair.

"Your hair is lovely my Queen" said Nora as she smiled.

"Hmm, you might say that, but to me it is really stressful to take care of" said Wura as she laughed.

"Just this morning I woke up with my hair all scattered over my face" said Wura as she laughed and Nora smiled.

"I am even considering cutting it all off" said Wura as Nora gasped.

"My Queen, please do not do that, your hair is too nice to be cut off" said Nora as she looked at Wura in the mirror as Wura laughed.

"Oh Nora, I do not mean that I would shave off my head, I just want to shorten my hair" said Wura as she laughed, Nora's reaction was just too funny, it was not even her own hair and yet she was so worried.

"But Still my Queen, I believe that you hair suites you well" said Nora as she continued brushing Wura's hair.

"Oh Nora, I am glad that you think so, but I often grow bored of my hair" said Wura as she laughed.

"Have you always grown bored of your hair my Queen?" asked Nora.

"Well yes, I always have… but my mother, she knew that I often found it stressful to look after my hair, so she used to plait if for me" said Wura as she smiled.

"She did?" asked Nora in surprise, she did not think that Duchess Ireti could plait hair.

"Yes she did" said Wura.

"Once every week, after dinner, she would call me, and I would sit on her dressing table, while she weaved my hair" said Wura as she smiled, she could tell you that those were the most intimate moments that she spent with her mother.

"She would part my hair into, four or five, and then she would weave it down to one row" said Wura.

"I liked it when she made her hair like that for me, it was less work for me to take care of, and it kept my hair out of my eyes" said Wura as she smiled, she missed those moments with her mother.

"My Queen, would you like it if I weaved your hair for you as well?" asked Nora as she smiled.

"You can weave hair?" asked Wura in surprise.

"Yes my Queen, I can" said Nora as she smiled.

"Well then yes please Nora" said Wura as she laughed.

"Alright my Queen" said Nora as she laughed.

"Uncle, what brings you here?" asked Liam as he smiled as he saw his Uncle walk into his office.

"Well I came to see my favourite nephew" said Nigel as he smiled.

"I am your only nephew" said Liam as he laughed.

"That you are" said Nigel as he laughed and he sat down on the couch as Liam walked to join him.

"So what truly brings you here Uncle?" asked Liam as he smiled.

"Well Liam, it has come to my attention that there have been some unrests in Livington" said Nigel as he looked at Liam.

"How do you mean Uncle?" asked Liam.

"Well apparently, the people are demanding for freedom, they say that the Dukedoms are what is stopping them from being truly free in the Kingdom" said Nigel, he had received a letter from his household today, telling him on how the townspeople wanted to set his house on fire.

"Ahhh well Uncle, I thought that you were already aware of the threats being sent to the Dukes and their families" said Liam.

"Well no, I was not aware, this is the first that I have heard of such" said Nigel.

"Well uncle, it has been threat common for some time now, but I was able to limit the effect, but it would seem that they are going after the little towns now" said Liam as he seemed to be thinking.

"Who are they?" asked Nigel.

"The East" replied Liam.

"So they are still on with their rebellion?" asked Nigel.

"It would seem so Uncle, although we do have a treaty signed, and they give us iron and gold for what they do not have, but that still does not stop them from trying to cause conflict internally with the Kingdom" said Liam.

"Oh my" said Nigel as he could not believe this.

"The first Duke family that they went after was Wura's family, they sent threats to them" said Liam as he explained.

"Does she know?" asked Nigel.

"No Uncle, she does not know" said Liam as he shook his head.

"And I would rather keep it like that, so she does not worry, I have already taken care of it, and well Duke Lawrence and his family will be safer in the plains" said Liam.

"She does deserve to know if her family is in danger Liam" said Nigel.

"I know Uncle, but for her own good, it is better that I do not tell her, besides, they are not in danger, I made sure of it" said Liam.

"Well alright, if you say so" said Nigel.

"Yes Uncle" said Liam.

"And about the East, what do you plan to do?" asked Nigel.

"Well for now Uncle, we must be careful" said Liam.

"We cannot take any hasty decisions, I cannot attack the East, because they are only spreading rumours, and so far, they have not broken their part of the treaty, so all we can do is to take measures, and protect the Duke families, after all, they do not want to attack directly, but rather, they want to use our own people to attack us" said Liam.

"Alright Liam, I trust that you have everything in control" said Nigel.

"Not truly Uncle, but to some extent I do" said Liam as Nigel smiled.

"Alright then" said Nigel as he smiled.

"But in other news, there have been some rumours going around the Castle" said Nigel as he changed the subject.

"Rumours regarding what Uncle?" asked Liam.

"Well I am not a gossip, but I did overhear some maids speaking about you and your wife" said Nigel.

"Good things or bad things?" asked Liam.

"Good things of course, although, there came a point in their conversation that caught my interest" said Nigel.

"And what was that uncle?" asked Liam.

"Well Liam, you do know, that they were things pertaining to the private matters between a man and his wife" said Nigel as he did not know how the best way to put it.

"Ahh… I see, I understand what you are referring to Uncle" said Liam as he did not need to think twice of what Nigel was trying to explain.

"Yes, Liam" said Nigel as he was relieved that he did not need to go into deeper discussion.

"I do hope that all is well?" asked Nigel as he smiled, although he knew that maybe the maids were exaggerating, but he just wanted to be sure.

"All is well Uncle" said Liam as he smiled.

"Well that is a relief, I knew that what the maids were saying could not be true" said Nigel as he smiled.

"Well Uncle, their words may hold a little truth in them, after all, I have been very busy as of late, the Kingdom has needed my uttermost attention" said Liam as he smiled.

"I do understand that Liam, but the Kingdom should not be the only one to need your attention" said Nigel as he smiled.

"I understand what you mean Uncle, and I will take your advice to heart" said Liam as he smiled and Nigel smiled at him.

"Will you be joining us for dinner?" asked Nigel as he smiled.

"I would have loved to Uncle, but I am afraid that I will not be able to" said Liam.

"Duke Williams has invited me over for dinner" said Liam.

"And it Is more an official meeting than one for pleasure" said Liam as he smiled.

"I understand" said Nigel as he smiled.

"Have you informed your wife yet?" asked Nigel as he smiled.

"No, but I shall send a guard to do so" said Liam as he smiled.

"Alright then" said Nigel as he smiled.

"I will take my leave now Liam, take care" said Nigel as he stood up.

"Thank you Uncle, and take care as well" said Liam as he smiled and Nigel walked out of his office.

"My Queen, what do you think?" asked Nora as she smiled and she looked at Wura's reflection in the mirror as she was finally done with her hair.

"It looks wonderful Nora, thank you, you did such a great job" said Wura as she smiled happily and she looked at her neatly woven hair, all her hair was finally weaved into six cornrows, Wura liked her hair better like this.

"You really think so my Queen?" asked Nora as she smiled.

"Yes I do, thank you Nora" said Wura as she smiled.

"You are welcome my Queen" said Nora as she smiled, she was happy that she could make Wura happy, that was all she wanted most as Wura's personal maid.

"No more messy hair for me" said Wura as she laughed and Nora laughed as well as a knock on the door interrupted them.

"I will get the door my Queen" said Nora as she smiled and she walked to the door as she opened it.

"Yes" said Nora as she answered the door.

"His Majesty has asked me to inform her Majesty that he will be unable to join her for dinner this evening, seeing as he will be stepping out of the Castle" said the guard as he delivered his message swiftly.

"Alright, thank you, I will inform her Majesty" said Nora as she nodded her head as the guard bowed his head and he walked away as he closed the door.

"Who was at the door Nora?" asked Wura as Nora walked back to the dressing table.

"It was a guard my Queen, he said to inform you that his Majesty will be unable to join you for dinner this evening, seeing as he will be stepping out of the Castle" said Nora.

"Oh, well alright then" said Wura as she smiled, she wondered where Liam was going to, but she knew that it was not in her place to know.

"My Queen, would you to eat dinner in your room then?" asked Nora as she smiled.

"No Nora, that will not be necessary, if I do that, then that means that Uncle Nigel would eat dinner alone, and that would not be nice, so I will just eat dinner with him" said Wura as she smiled.

"As you wish my Queen" said Nora as she smiled and she nodded her head.

"Good Evening Uncle Nigel" said Wura as she smiled and she saw Nigel who was already sitting at the dining table.

"Ahhh good Evening my Queen… ahh I mean Wura" said Nigel as he smiled and Wura sat down at her spot on the dining table.

"I thought that you would not come down for dinner, since Liam had stepped out" said Nigel as he smiled.

"Ahh, yes, I know that Uncle, but I did not want to leave you all alone" said Wura as she smiled.

"Thank you for your kindness" said Nigel as he smiled and Wura smiled.

"Shall we eat?" asked Wura as she smiled.

"Of course" said Nigel as he smiled.

"Umm, Uncle…" called Wura as she looked at Nigel.

"Yes Wura?" asked Nigel as he smiled.

"Do you by any chance know where his Majesty stepped out to?" asked Wura as she could not help but be curious.

"Ahh, well he was invited to dinner by Duke Williams" said Nigel as he smiled.

"I see…" said Wura as she smiled, she wondered why Liam didn't just tell her that, but wait… why did she care anyway.

"Yes, they had to discuss some important matters" said Nigel as he explained.

"Alright then" said Wura as she smiled.

"Is there something wrong?" asked Nigel as he smiled.

"No, no, nothing is wrong Uncle" said Wura as she smiled.

"Alright Wura" said Nigel as he smiled and Wura smiled at him, she wondered why she even cared about where Liam was anyway, he could obviously take care of himself, and he did not need to inform her where he went.

Wura sighed as she climbed into bed, today had been a very busy day, she had went to the library to look for some books, she looked through some records that Lady Marli gave her, and she was just so tired, all she wanted to do was close her eyes and sleep.

Wura got into bed as she sighed, she laid her head on her pillow and she closed her eyes as she suddenly heard the door of her room open, which in turn caused her to open her eyes as she turned to look at who had just entered her room.

"I am sorry to disturb you my Queen" said Nora as she bowed her head.

"That is alright Nora, you are not disturbing me" said Wura as she sat up straight in her bed.

"is there something wrong?" asked Wura as Nora had already left earlier since she was done with all her duties, and now she was back again.

"Ahhh, well my Queen, his Majesty request for your presence in his room" said Nora as she did not know how best to put this.

"What do you mean??" asked Wura as she was confused, what did Liam want?? She had not seen him all day.

"My Queen… his Majesty wants you to come to his chambers…" said Nora as she watched Wura's reaction closely as Wura's face changed from being confused, to being even more confused.

"Why?" asked Wura as she could not understand why all of a sudden Liam wanted her to come to his room.
