Training in Hell with the Devil [1/9]

"Which hell and who's the devil?"

Alice facepalmed at his idiocy and sighed at her need to explain. "It's not literal hell, It's where I trained and spent most of my time. I was called an Illusive Devil when I won a tournament a few years back".

Alice walked around the place with a smile like a billionaire that went to their childhood home.

After the initial nostalgia, she finally addressed Junya.

"School is in 18 days, 17 of this will be spent down here, pick a weapon and meet me back here".

Alice walked off to a corner and started changing, for fear of another thrashing Junya covered his eyes and walked to where she pointed out. He reached and saw It was a large chest about three metres by two with a black frame and silver lining as design.

Junya flipped the locks and the chest lifted with a heave, a large contraption sprung out from inside. It was a small display for the variety of weapons within, it rotated showing the strongest ones; namely Swords, Spears, Glaives, Axes and sabres.

Despite this, other weapons inside the chest were different variants of each weapon be it long swords, broadsword, duandao, Jian.

Junya realized that Alice had a serious goldmine based on the quality. It was a collection that made the one in Berger town look like an amateur.

'What's the problem you don't see one you like? I have more stored in the walls If you wanna look" Alice clicked her remote and opened a few more hidden chambers into the walls revealing an assortment of more blades.

Some had jagged blades and curved handles, the longest blade reaching 5 metres.

'Not seeing one I like? It's my first-time seeing half of this stuff.'

Junya was stunned as he continued to assess the weapons. His eyes were drawn to the swords, but they were too stereotypical, too generic.

That would guarantee that everyone would have more experience than him but using a different weapon could still grant him an advantage.

"You don't have a weapon choice?" Alice asked seeing Junya was rather stumped.

"No, the most I have ever done is maybe use a rock fighting off meth heads. It's mostly barehanded, my training before consisted of just bodybuilding and shadowboxing. College is theoretical so there was no fighting only information on Mob related topics"

Alice observed him, the well-formed muscles he had under his clothes only just drew her attention. If the world was not in such an apocalyptic state Junya could've pursued being an athlete.

Junya was desperately trying to decide what would suit him but nothing stood out.

"Hmm I see, why don't you just pick one and see how it feels in your hand. If you don't like it then you can change it afterwards," Alice suggested. Junya hesitantly chose a spear and a glaive.

'These both feel nice in my hands despite their heft. the glaive is flexible and could destroy larger objects with devastating recoil coupled with enough power application. Whereas the spear is precise and can pierce anything. It would have better killing efficiency.'

While Junya was pondering Alice strutted over with a katana in its sheath, The handle was woven in a black and white batter, decorated with a floral pattern along with it.

"Why don't you try this?"

"That's cool and all, but two is better than one." Junya's declaration sounded nonsensical, but he was serious.

"Dual wielding huh, that's far more complicated. It requires you to make both sides move to each their own. It's gonna be hard - making both sides of your body fight independently- In essence, one side of your brain will learn one weapon and the same for the other side."

"That sounds like a pain." Junya sighed annoyedly, realizing he had to pick one.

"tell you what, just learn the glaive for now and the spear after. There aren't many people using that weapon so in terms of fights with other Mobsters, you will definitely have an advantage. When you are fighting Mobs, weapons don't really matter much as long as you destroy them without getting destroyed yourself. Although, if you could dually wield by then you could be a real force"

Alice was right – of course- but left out the most crucial downfall, that most people never perfected dual-wielding outside of identical weapons such as swords.

"Fine, I will." Junya understood Alice's reasoning. " But I think I should practice with both of them still."

"One can't simply train with both weapons from the start. You have to choose one master and then do the same for the other."

Junya was annoyed but reluctantly gave in and chose the glaive.

"Good choice, now let's get started. We've already wasted time dilly-dallying." Alice said hastily while closing the chest and wall storage. She threw him spandex damage resistant suit. "Wear this, It will help you"

Junya grabbed it into his hands. The suit was small and looked like something a toddler would wear. He looked at Alice who only looked at him with impatience

Junya only sighed realising he had no other choice. After putting it on, it fit as expected. Tightly around his body but had enough elasticity to allow him some breathing room.

"It suits you. Now first tell me about your abilities. If you look on you're Elo Command they should be there" Alice explained.

"No, I've never seen my Elo Command before," Junya said with certainty.

"Hm, in the reports, Amus said you used one." Alice thought rather confused. "It's not impossible to forget. It's like if you forget a recipe, you won't really know how to make the dish again. In most cases though, if you did it once you can do it again."

"Great, so how do I remembe-"

Before Junya could finish, Alice's figure was already rushing toward him
