chapter 11 - Multiplier effect!

Saachi had only few spells to kill the level 1 mice in the field. Even these mice were monsters. They could bite the player to death, literally. Thank God, he had high constitution, thus more HP. Or else, he would have died at level 1 or emptied all his HP potions.

His skills were so bad that the guild people or others did not even talk to him, let alone recruit him. His level 1 spells "Heal"(recover HP over the time), " Recover"(recover mana/MP over the time) became level 2 before he killed one of the mice with basic level 1 spell "small fire ball" ( -10 HP, 10% chance to inflict burn{-3 HP/sec for 3 sec} .cost 10MP. cooldown -20 sec)

He used "Collect" to take in monster drops. It was level 1 monster. How much loot would it give? A measly 2 small bronze coins, 1 rat fur ,1 rat meat.

But when it went into inventory space, it had turned into 2 small bronze coins, 1 rat fur and 5 rat meat. 5 X bonus was applied on rat meat this time.

This bonus multiplier was quite handy, huh.

He stayed in the field. He wanted to level up his offensive spells and get adjusted to manual mode. It was not just understanding the breakdown of spell, remembering it , casting it by wand. He had to predict where the monsters would move, how to move the wand, how to escape monster's aggro range and enter it, how to dodge the monster attack.

When the game started, it was early morning in the game. Now it was already afternoon, and he was sweating, thanks to all the running and acrobatics. From past some time though, there would be a mild fireworks of sorts and a voice announcements. Because he didn't want to be disturbed, he had muted all sorts of announcements, including his own. Now that he was resting to recover his HP naturally, he decided to see what he had missed.

He was no stranger to the fireworks or voice announcements. The announcements were mainly for first blood etc to increase competitiveness in players. No, what he was interested was in other type of announcements - advertising or boasting, for recruitment. They costed money indirectly. Such pronouncement or advertising costed RPP = reputation points for players, which could be purchased by cash or collected as quest rewards. This reputation point should not be confused with RPN = reputation points for NPCs, which could not be purchased at all. These were much more precious. These were awarded when done excellent service of great proportions to powerful NPCs.

He wanted to gauge the competition in the village level. Reaching City would take long time and a detour through a big enough town. Actually, these towns would become satellites of sorts. In later years, big guilds would occupy towns and develop them further as the development within city was a bit restrictive and costly too. If not for obvious advantage and prestige, these guilds would have transplanted themselves elsewhere. As that was not possible, they had clans which managed multiple towns( newly made or pre-made).

He walked back to village to free up inventory space, by handing over items and finishing quests.

The village chief, the initial quest giver was busy. Thankfully, he had few able bodied underlings who collected quest items and signalled the chief. So as soon as he sent away another novice towards newbie killing field to handle mice, he turned towards Saachi instead of another person standing in queue for quest. Receiving goods always take precedence.

Another round of praising - blah, blah, blah.... Hint to go to Smithy to repair the weapon. Finally, finally...the quest reward. As this was the first quest the player took, the reward was quite generous.

And..... Saachi's dream part 1 came true. This time mana potions had bonus multiplier of 3. Yes, two free mana potions. He had saved over 40 small bronze coins.

Next to shed off weight in the bag, towards security guard incharge of hounds to hand over rat meat. Bonus- 8x coins. Then onwards to tailor apprentice to sell rat fur. Bonus - 5x small inventory bag.

These inventory bags were not upto mark , could not be sold under tailor's name or even apprentice's name. It had just 10 storage space, less than half of original inventory bag.

He did not mind have smaller ones if they were given free. Unfortunately, the apprentice could not give recipe card for very small or small or normal inventory bag. He gave recipe of level 3 cloak.

Saachi checked the recipe card for ingredients- yep, it had rat furs in it.

He looked at the sun, it was evening in the game. The dare devils or fearless players would still fight against monsters. If they had auto assist, the low vision would not matter. So he had to decide what to do in remaining time. Which lifestyle craft could he learn?

Others had it easy. They either got quest items themselves or friends helped them. So they just had to produce quest items to NPCs to get basic recipe card. Now he had to purchase the quest items to finish quest and get recipe cards. Getting it himself was no go, it was nearly night and his manual control was still new.
