Chapter 12 - Buy and sell

It was already evening in the game. The game wanted players to enjoy the feel of game in days and nights, so the duration was obviously shortened. And the gaming developers thought right, too. This was just one of novice villages. But the evening scenery was beautiful. It formed a huge contrast to makeshift market of players in the playground near Village Square. Saachi knew it would turn even more lively as players increased.

He came out of memories, this was no longer repeat of the past. In previous life, around this time, he would have worked in market or held up in library, not knowing that the life time opportunity was flying by.

The market fever had not spiked yet. Demand and supply ruled the player market as of now. Later, monopolies, guild prestige and many things would come into factor. But right now...it was just demand and supply, buy and sell.

He could actually envision how this makeshift Market started. After all, the players here now were either avid gamers or people in guilds. Let's not forget a fraction of players who jumped into the ship for money. Few had surplus of quest items or other items that they did not know the use of. So after finishing quest, they would come here and dump them. Whatever the money earned was extra money used to buy consumables like potions or increase in durability of weapons. As the day progressed, people selling were more, buying were less unless they were quest items. The procure type of quests did not ask you to kill the specific number of specific monsters, these quests were based on end results. So if a player could sell such items, they could sell at relatively high value. Casual players asked whatever price they wanted.

On other hand, old timers would only scam these casual players and with others, adhered to actual price (estimated by players themselves).

A tour of the market, Saachi had alchemist quest items but the coins.... better not talk about it. When he thought how he would have to purchase herbs and more to make potions..... Only thing left was crying a bucket of tears.

As usual, the Alchemist was boasting and as afterthought asked if the player still wanted to learn alchemy, even after knowing the ingredients were hard to come by. Saachi, being a good guy, responded positively.

NPC was still cautioning about low productivity rate, low clearance rate, blah, blah, blah.... Productivity rate was number of times a potion could form in the end. High level alchemist would have 100% productivity rate of level 1 potions. Clearance rate was related to effectiveness of potion. Any potion with less than 50% effectiveness was useless. So the standard potions sold in stores which were made by apprentice alchemist would have clearance of only 50%. Any higher, potion effect would increase .

Say a small level 1 potion could give 30HP and had cool down of 30 seconds, it was standard value, that is 50% clearance rate value. If you have higher affinity with shopkeeper or alchemist and be ready to shell out extras, then you could potentially get 60%, even 70% clearance rate potions. The cooldown/CD would be a lot less or HP supplied would be a lot more.

Let's compare. We shall assume that Level 1 small HP potion of 70% clearance gives 60HP and CD is still 30 seconds. But cost of that portion is thrice that of normal potion. Would you buy 6 normal potions or 2 better potions or mixture of both.

Here is where wisdom of playing games, method of playing comes in to play. If you are elite, facing higher level monsters and bosses, better potions are worth the gold. If you are constantly grinding, mixture would be good. If you are normal player, you will faint on learning cost of the better potion. It is basically useless to you.

Saachi was last type of player. In fact, most low or medium levelled lifestyle players were also of same type. Paying double the amount, triple the amount, just for 5% or 10% gain seemed foolhardy business.

Till lifestyle players became sufficiently high levelled, they did not even notice such opportunities, such options were present. Clearance rate was new terminology for them, one which would determine their bonuses and as such.

So how did Saachi, a dreg in previous life and new gamer in present, learn of this secret? The answer was in long flashback, which was very painful to our hero. So we will come to this topic at later date.

So, Saachi entered alchemy trial room after paying fee coins for 2 hour usage. Trial room was a place which could withstand a high level mage's rage, yet it showed signs of failing in edges. This proved that foolhardy people are more dangerous than powerful people. They may kill you even without any intention of killing you.

Alchemy in this world needed source fire, Binding powder, Viva water or diluted viva water and herbs . As recipe becomes more complex and higher level, other things like purity, age of herbs, concentration of binding powder or viva water etc came into play.

He had just dabbled in alchemy, used auto- assist there too. So the known procedure became somewhat different and difficult
