A Noble Daughter's Reprisal

Eva left the lord's mansion and found somewhere to hole up for the night. She picked a building that did not have many windows and a door she could pile heavy furniture against. She did not feel comfortable staying in such an empty town, but she would feel even less safe out in the open.

Red stayed in the building with her. This made her feel a little more safe, but there was something off about this town. How could a whole town's population simply disappear? Things probably were not as they appeared. It would take a full day to walk back to report to the Capital and it felt like there was indeed some kind of secret to this quest.
