Bittersweet Return

How many days had it been since Lucas had left? He left without even an explanation of where or why he needed to leave. The worst part was that she didn't remember any reference to why he had needed to leave her.

Bitterness and tears consumed her each day. She shouldn't feel bitterness. Or at least, she didn't know why bitterness seeped into her like this. Maybe it had something to do with the lost memories that were just at the tip of her purview.

She could feel them seeping up to the surface even now. It tickled her consciousness and just as soon as she felt she could grasp them they slipped away. It worried her how the person she loved so much was mixed up in so many unknown emotions.

Love definitely came in many different ways. Take her parents for example. She knew she loved her father and her mother, but the pain of too many years of negative memories had soured her love for them.
