Eva, Be Safe

Eva groaned as he shifted her onto one of the bunks in the second floor bunkroom. The room was empty as the guards had left in a hurry to the main house. It felt too quiet, but at least the fire with the strange smoke wasn't here.

Eva's face was flushed. Lucas placed his hand on her forehead and the heat surprised him. The smoke must have affected her differently than him. That meant all the humans in the main house would probably be in danger.

He had managed to heal the worst side effects but it was like trying to stem the flow of a raging river. It would take time before he could significantly heal her. Time they did not have. He should rush back to the main house and take out the intruders, but the thought of leaving Eva here alone and in pain was causing him to pause.
