Louis took Iyare's hands hand in his and they traveled back to 26years ago.

In a motel room, a man and a woman were seen hugging each other passionately. "Please take me with you," the woman says with tears running down her eyes.

"I told you already, it is going to be very risky. If you get caught with me you will be killed. I will not forgive myself if anything happened to you. Let stick to the plan" the man comforted her rumbling her hair gently.

" I have a bad feeling about you leaving me behind, let's take the risk together" the woman responds holding the man closer.

"No, we can't make sure risk. Please dear understand, you will join me once I settle down I promise." the man replied.

"You promise to come back for me?" the woman asked. "Yes I promise to come for you, just give me a little time," he said.

"How much time?" the woman asked still uncomfortable about the plan. The man sighed and release her from his embrace and cupped the woman's crying face. "I am not sure love but I promise it will not take more than four years." He said looking her straight in the eyes.

" Four years!" the woman exclaimed with disbelief evident in her.

"Hey look at me," the man said but the lady could not see him clearly since her eyes were blurry with tears. The man took his handkerchief and cleaned her tears. "Love you have to be strong for us. I can't bring you over until I am sure it is safe. I can't lose you," the man explained.

"I can't wait that long, can't you come any sooner. I can't even wait for one year, how do you expect me to wait for four years Ken?" the woman asked and tears run down her eyes again.

"I know it going to be difficult love, I can't wait that long either but it's for the best love, believe me. I will try to settle everything before then," the man promised.

"Ken you promise?" the woman asked, still having some doubts. "Yes, I promise," the man said sealing her lips with a kiss. "You see I sealed it with a kiss. You know I always keep all my promises love. Trust me on this one too please" the man begged.

"I trust you but what would I be doing for four years. How would I even know if your journey was successful" the woman told him her concerns.

"Faith love, you have to have faith in us," the man replied. "faith" the woman muttered in a broken voice. "I know four years is a long time but please wait. I will contact you once I am ready" the man told her.

"So you want me to just sit and wait?" the woman asked. "Yes, love waiting for me. If you don't hear from me within four years then you can stop waiting" the man said.

The woman nodded her head gently. "if you don't come back I will kill myself," the woman threaten. When the man heard this, he took a deep breath of relief. Then he gently placed her on the bed with him on top.

Iyare recognize the woman as her mother but she was sure she has never seen the man before.

"He never kept his promise" Iyare whispered but Louis heard her. "He did" Louis replied.

"What? If he did why did I not meet him?" She asked with a raised brows.

"He could not find your mum" Louis answered. "So my mum never waited?" She asked.

"You mum waited but fate had other plans," Louis answered, maybe it was not fate, he had played a part in making sure this happened. but he will never tell Iyare that.

"Tell me how did they miss each other?" Iyare asked the only question in her mind at the moment.

" Your Dad could not come himself, he knew it was still risky to make any contact with County Ng. Four years had already gone by and it was almost becoming the fifth year. Things had not run smoothly for him as he expected."

"He was not yet strong enough to protect your mother if he made contact with her personally. So he decided to send his most trustworthy subordinate to bring her."

"He could not wait anymore and he did not want your mother to give up the wait and move on since the time he asked of her was over. besides knowing your mother she might kill herself as she threatens.

"The trusted subordinate came to Ng. He knew your father loved only your mother. He wanted to inherit all that belonged to your father. He planned to set your father up with his sister to achieve his aim but that will not be possible if your mother got reunited with your father."

"He knew your father would never make contact with Ng country again if anything happened to your mother. So he decided to get rid of your mother. Hence your mother's house caught fire and he reported to your father that your mother die in the fire incident."

" So that was what caused the fire in her house when she was four?" it was a statement but it came out as a question so Louis nodded his head. The injuries she got from that incident left a lot of scars on her body.

" Why? I mean why did my father run away from country Ng and could never come back."Iyare asked.

"He was involved in some underworld activities. He deals with illegal drugs and he was a fine assassin."

"He was his boss's right-hand man but when he meet your mother he wanted to keep her safe, so he decided to quit. But he knew the only way to quit his kind of job was death. His boss had strong backing with men in government."

"He has kept your mother a secret from his boss. He had a lot of women around him to protect your mother. If his boss finds out how much he loved your mother then she will be safe."

" The night he met your mother in the motel was the same night he betrayed his boss by shipping himself among goods."

"He had lost of cash with him. He had large savings but he has also been stealing from his boss. He knew money will be his only banging power when he makes his move."

" The ship he took was going to country k so when he got to country k, he took another ship that same day that was heading to Ua."

"He knew his boss will trackback his movements when he discovered he was missing. That was why he never contacted your mum he believed they will watch her for the first two years of his disappearance since she was the last person to see him."

"There was no point killing a girl who probably just had one night with him. His boss believes he did not have any emotional attachment to any woman. But his boss was not stupid not to pay a little attention to the late person he meet before disappearing."

" When your dad heard the news about your mum's death, he blame himself for not reaching out earlier."

" How could never have guessed that his trusted subordinate will betray him. What's more, he could not investigate. He did not get to bid her goodbye. You know at that time technology was not as advanced as we have it now."

" After waiting for five years your mother concluded that your father did not have a successful journey. Another woman should have loved you so much since you are the seed of her beloved but she hated you because she felt it was your bad luck that took your father away from her " Louis explained.

" How could she even think that?" Iyare asked because she found it hard to understand, why a rational person will make such a conclusion.

" I guess it is because of the bad omen that is involved around your birth. You know your grandmother's accident and your grandfather's death. Especially since they were unable to detect the cause of the fire that burn all their property and left her and her mother poor."

" Her father was the breed winner of the family, so I guess you understand what his death means." Iyare nodded her head things must have been hard for her mother.

" Your mother meet the man you have always known as your father that same year "Louis finished explaining.

" If I was already five when my mother meet that man, why did I forget he was not my biological father? " Iyare asked to clarify her doubts.

" You suffer from amnesia after the fire incident "Louis answered.

" Iyare bite her tongue in frustration. If she has know all this while that the monster who made her life miserable all these years was not her father, she would have killed him already. Anyway, it is not too late to do that now, she thought.

Louis smiled to himself when he read her thoughts. This is going very smoothly he was sure she would accept his deal at this rate.

"So whatever happened to my biological father?" Iyare asked. Maybe if she accepted Louis's deal she would look for him and unmask his so-called trusted subordinate.

"Your father is dead now Iyare," Louis answered. Iyare did not know why but she felt tears running down her eyes. She never meet the man but for some reason, she felt that he would have taken care of her if he knew she existed.

She needs to deal with that lying subordinate. It's his fault that her parents never got back together. It is his fault that she suffered all she did the last 25 years, he must pay. He must have gotten his hands on his father's wealth already. She tightened her fist.

Louis got angry since she was having her complex emotions again and so he could not read her thoughts.

"I know my father is dead but can you at least tell me anything I can use to find him, at least tell me who he was after he left Ng."
