The gathering

I realized something, Klarion's blood filled me up, like abnormally so I know it gave me an extraordinary boost in combat strength but, I still had to heal a lot, healing a whole arm and order energy injuries would usually take me out; making me go into a frenzy for blood.

But, I feel content.

Full even? I haven't felt truly full in a while, it's one thing draining humans of their blood and not feeling hungry, but I only feel full when I drink the good stuff.

Klarion's blood was the best stuff, the extraordinary stuff. What I wouldn't do to get more, of that blood. It would be a great weapon to have, especially if I fight another being with order magic or light magic.

"Sir, if we want to make it on time we need to leave now," Dembe told me as I replied to an email

Looking up I nodded, "let's go,"

We went to my car, we took the plates off of it so no one can find out who I am through the license plates, I wore a maroon suit with black lining, and brought a mask with me.

The mask I am wearing is like the mask from V for Vendetta, it's not a popular design here, so I decided to wear it.

"Are you looking to buy something?" I asked Dembe who was dressed in a pitch black suit, his mask was pure white with only two holes for the eyes, and two small ones for the nose

"No, I'm going to be guarding you," he replied not taking his eyes off the road

I rolled my eyes at that, "well If you see anything you want let me know,"

A sigh escaped his lips, "fine,"

I pulled out a book from my briefcase, it was titled 'the once and future king' the book was about king Arthur's life, his journey, and his ending.

The book is and will always be a great read. As we drove under the veil of darkness I consumed the words of the book, lately, I have been trying to test out if I can use words to put an effect on me rather than pulling out items.

For example, a classic line in this book is 'Power is of the individual mind, but the mind's power is not enough. Power of the body decides everything in the end, and only Might is Right' I wonder if I can say that and try to give myself a strength boost, the idea holds merit, and I really want to give it a try.

When I get home I will experiment with this new way of Libriomancy I may have discovered.

We continued the drive in almost complete silence the radio was on, playing some random music as we drove. Occasionally I would glance at my phone and reply to a business email, life can be tedious sometimes especially when you run a company, are making a movie, and an app.

Yeah, that's on me.

Eventually, we made it to the location, it was on the outskirts of Metropolis perfect for this type of thing.

We exited the car with our masks already on, as we walked to the venue door Dembe asked, "sir why are you wearing a mask, can't you just change your appearance?"

I chuckled, "yeah but a mask is more fun,"

He sighed and shook his head, truthfully the more fun part was just half of the reason, the other reason was that I don't know who will be here, and if the building has some type of ward to remove appearance changes.

We approached the door of the small shack, I knocked on it twice

*thump*

*thump*

"Password," I heard someone say his voice was rough

I smiled and replied, "one man's trash is another man's treasure,"

"Enter," the voice sounded out again opening the door

Dembe and I stepped through, I spotted the owner of the gruff voice, it was an older human looking about fifty years old, "he's with me," I told him after seeing the way he looked at Dembe

The man nodded, "follow me," he said gesturing to us with a wave

We followed him to a glass case containing a sword, he took the sword from the case, and immediately the floor in front of us pulled apart revealing a set of stone stairs.

Not paying him any mind I began to walk down with Dembe following me from behind, I could tell he was ready for anything as his muscles tensed as we walked farther and farther down the winding stairs.

Soon we made it to an open floor, pedestals were raised in key positions containing unique objects, and a podium was upfront.

I scanned the crowd, I couldn't recognize anyone in particular but, by scent, I could smell Lex in the building.

I walked with Dembe along the open floor, stopping sometimes when I saw an object that interested me.

As I made my way toward the podium someone made their way up, he didn't wear a mask but, I still couldn't recognize his face, it was like I was looking at blurry lines.

"Welcome all! Today I have the honor of hosting this gathering, we will be starting the auction portion of the night soon," He announced then made his way down stopping to talk to a few people as he did

Dembe and I lingered around for a few seconds before I broke off to make some small talk, Dembe stayed behind keeping a vigilant eye on me.

I mingled with a few people, and they all asked what I'm looking to purchase, 'just this and that,' was my response to every single one of them.

I made my way back to Dembe as I saw the man getting back up on the podium, he glanced around before making a hand gesture, and immediately seats were behind us, I sat down calmly but others were surprised.

"Wow," I heard someone mumble

"We will now be starting the auction," he announced

I saw a bid card under the chair of the person in front of me, I bent down and got my own, as did Dembe.

The first item up for bid was an old jade pendant, I dismissed it.

Next was a pen that could turn into any cold weapon one could think of, a spear, a sword, a bow, an axe, the list goes on and on.

The third item piqued my interest, it was a vial of blood, "this is the blood of a plesiosaur they live deep underwater near Atlantis,"

That could be interesting.

"The starting bid is five hundred thousand dollars,"

I put up my bid card, "five hundred thousand dollars to the man in the back!"

"Can I get one million Dollars?" he called out

Someone raised their card, "one point five?"

I raised my card.

"Can I get two million dollars!?"

No one raised their bid card, "sold to the man in the back,"

I nodded calmly as I put down my bid card, I saw the other bidder angrily looking at me, I didn't pay him any mind.

"Next we have an interesting item, this is the original copy of the legend of Kamalu, the God of war in the religion Igbo, it is said that this book grants whoever can read it unprecedented talents in battle. The only catch is you have to survive reading it, only one person has and he died leaving me this book in his care. I can assure you all it's the real deal," the blurred-faced man said

I needed that book.

"The starting bid is-"

"Five million," a cold voice interrupted the speaker

I saw who said it, I clocked him when I entered, after all, Lex Luthor.

"Five and a half," I said raising my bid card

"Ten Million", Lex countered in his cocky tone

I scowled, he is way richer than me.

I put down my bid card, I needed that book, books like that are so rare and so valuable to a Libriomancer.

I needed it, just pulling out one item from the book would equal so much, and if I'm right and the book is some sort of trial and the book has a measure of sentience then in besting the trial I might be able to pull items from the book with ease.

"Don't worry literature lovers the next item is another piece of ancient text, the next item is an old text of Hindu Iconography, this piece has no special properties, but the owner wanted to bid it off, the piece itself belongs in a gallery," He announced

I won the bid easily. This item was just used as a segway from old magic items to technology and other things, I didn't buy any seeing as there was nothing that interested me enough.

My mind though was still on getting the book from Lex.

I will have it.

A/N: so finding exact lines and source material for some legends is hard af, so I probably will just write my own but most of these do have their own tales and legend
