On the other hand, the dejected Flare did not know that he had worried both his parents by going out.
He doesn't know the reason for his rejection towards Estella and her family himself. The feeling of repulsion towards them came naturally to him and his instincts always told him to stay away from them.
Though he was introverted in nature, the reason for him staying away from Estella and her family was never that. Instead he always felt like he was their prey and they were his predators and hence he had to run away from them. Or he would get eaten raw.
Just as he thought, the moment he went near them, his poor tail was bitten by that little demon. Thankfully she did not have any teeth yet.
Otherwise, his frail tail would have been separated from him at his tender age.
Demon!
Demon!
She really is a demon.
He had to be careful with that little Demon.
He continued walking around and after looking at his surroundings, he slowly forgot about Estella and Moana.
By the time he looked around, he was in the woods that were a few kilometers away from his home.
Though he never entered these woods before, he was familiar with this place. Hence he walked forwards thinking that he should look around. After all, this would be his neighbouring area for a long while and knowing neighbouring areas is always good.
As he slowly walked forwards, he heard sounds of howls from a faraway place.
As soon as he heard the sounds, he stopped in his tracks and looked around.
Since it was from a faraway place, he thought he would not face anyone and thus decided to walk a little farther.
Flare has always been a careful raccoon. Hence he started being vigilant with every step he took forwards from the moments he heard the sounds of howling.
He lightened his steps and made sure no sound came from him.
After walking for a little longer, he decided to go back home as there was nothing interesting around here.
Well, he got to play with a few insects around for a while but except that, he did not find anything else interesting.
As he was turning back, he heard some sounds coming from the side. The curiosity of his got to him as he slowly walked in that direction and peeked from behind a huge tree to find the source of the sound.
What he saw were a couple of men walking. He frowned as he did not understand what would humans do this far into a forest as he continued watching them from behind the tree discreetly.
Under his curious eyes, the men walked for a few steps before they jumped forwards. As they jumped, the men suddenly transformed into a couple of huge wolves, shocking Flare.
Flare stood frozen in his spot and the wolves did not find him as they ran forwards deeper into the woods.
Flare on the other hand, had his eyes open wide as a few images flashed in front of them.
Everything that had happened in his life from the moment he entered this world flashed by in front of his eyes.
Some of the images he remembered while some he didn't know had happened.
Most of the images though, he had seen on a daily basis during his nightmares. He never got to have a peaceful sleep for a day because of those heartbreaking images. How could he forget them?
He recalled how a wolf attacked his mother.
He recalled how a wolf took his brothers away from him.
He recalled how the same wolf tried to attack him.
He also recalled how his mother saved him from that very wolf that had turned into a human.
He remembered many things which only led to an immeasurable amount of sadness and despair.
He couldn't handle the shock of a sudden bout of memories as he subconsciously took a few steps backwards.
When his small paw broke a small twig, the sound snapped him and in an instant he started running. In the direction away from the wolves that just ran away.
He wanted to run away from them. As far as he could. He would not want to see those wolves who had attacked his mother, took away his brothers and also tried to kill him.
He did not care if the wolves that he had just seen were not the same wolves who had attacked his family once.
All he knew was that the wolves are his enemies and he hates them. He should stay away from them. That is what his mother had said to him. To stay away from the wolves.
Those are the words she spoke to him with her then weak and feeble voice, which he could never forget.
