Chapter 12 Procrastination (Seeking Feedback)

When Li Changhe said this, he was so arrogant that he deserved a beating.

The Earth Knight, who was resting on the side, changed his face dramatically, fearing that he would anger the ghost.

He never put down the steel knife in his hand. He growled, "Your grandpa's! Can you stop provoking her? I don't think we stand a chance if we start fighting! You're just a lv1 noob!"

As a lv4 [Player], the Earth Knight could feel the danger more than Li Changhe; the ghost in front of them was not simple.

Li Changhe didn't respond to him, but instead tapped on his dog-head mask.

"I don't care what you think; I care about what I think. Listen to me!" he said in a domineering voice, unreasonable and overbearing.

The Earth Knight pursed his lips and took out a bottle of light blue liquid from his [Player Backpack].

[Item: Low-Efficacy Energy Potion 200ml]

[Effect: Accelerates energy recovery. Effect reduced by half if the basic energy value is above 10 points.]

[Note: The sun is shining, the rain has stopped, and you feel capable again!]

This was a potion he had bought with twenty game coins, and now he couldn't care less about the cost, quietly leaning against the wall to recover.

Uncle Eight-direction was right; if they had a choice in this [Task], it would be better not to use force. But if they couldn't negotiate, it would be a matter of life and death. Before that, the ghost wouldn't go all out on the two of them.

On the other side, Li Changhe didn't pay attention to the Earth Knight's thoughts, but stared intently at the room.

With the girl's departure, the room's scenery changed as well.

The setting sun disappeared, the 'teacher's' figure also left the room, and a few equally indistinguishable phantoms wearing school uniforms appeared. They seemed to be female students.

Female students from Yanyun 20 years ago.

Are these the victims after the teacher?" Li Changhe's eyes glittered.

Several phantoms gathered where the 'teacher' had been, whispering something.

Li Changhe got up and walked over to 'them,' barely able to hear anything.

"It's here..."

"I've always disliked her... Finally found an opportunity."

"No wonder she always sided with her, so their relationship was like this."

"...Let's go."

"She actually believed it?"

The statements were not coherent, but one could guess the general idea.

A few phantoms left envelopes on the desk, one by one, guiltily fleeing the room.

Li Changhe reached out for the envelope, but his fingers passed straight through without obstruction. He didn't mind, "I can probably guess what this is. The next scene should be... the beginning of the tragedy."

Sure enough, after the phantoms left, the scene changed again.

The room brightened. It should have been the next day, the 'teacher' arrived early at the office and froze when she saw the envelope on the desk.

She seemed to be muttering something, but no sound could be heard.

In the next scene, the 'teacher' was already hanging in the office. She had committed suicide.

The girl stared blankly at the 'teacher's' body, letting out a soundless wail.

Even though this was just a scene constructed by the ghost, it made Li Changhe and the Earth Knight feel the intense sadness and despair. Their eyes were a bit bitter, as if filled with sand.

And room 303 returned to its original state. The sun disappeared, the warmth was gone, and cold and darkness descended again.

The Earth Knight rubbed his eyes, "She can actually affect us with illusions. The power of this ghost might be... really beyond what we can handle." Speaking, the Earth Knight's face turned dark, "She deliberately lured us in."

Li Changhe suddenly said, "The silent bullying in the school or the rumors that destroy a strong person."

The Earth Knight was stunned, then realized that since the ghost's power was beyond his own, negotiation would be the only option. He looked nervously at Uncle Eight-direction, fearing he would provoke the ghost.

"Yes." The woman's voice echoed in the dark room, "It's because of them... that the teacher died. They all deserve to die! And you..."

Li Changhe couldn't tell where the voice was coming from, but he could still feel the chilling cold and unparalleled pressure it conveyed.

Despite having encountered strange creatures like the harpies, he couldn't help but feel a sudden burst of fear from the depths of his genes.

It was a primal feeling of humans... no, of all living beings' resistance to the dead. It was far from what the harpies could compare to.

Li Changhe originally thought he wasn't afraid of ghosts; he didn't believe in the supernatural. Before meeting the harpies, he was a staunch materialist.

Afraid of ghosts? How could he be afraid of something that didn't exist? But now... the cold air seemed to freeze his heart and lungs.

Under the dog-head mask, Li Changhe's face turned pale. Even if he was just a lv1 player, he could still sense the formidable presence of the ghost in front of him. Her voice alone was enough to stop his heart.

"Them?" Li Changhe tried to steady his breath. Thankfully, the dog-head mask was still on his face, so no one - or rather no ghost - could see his current state.

"Wasn't it you who killed the teacher?" When Li Changhe said this, the room went silent. The next second, the entire room began to tremble as if something was about to burst out of the ground.

The Earth Knight's face changed dramatically, and he was about to swing his steel knife, "Damn, are you crazy? Can't you just talk nicely?"

He then discovered that his proud and strong body was firmly locked by a bunch of hair emerging from the ground, no matter how hard he tried to break free. It was not like the hair that had been cut open in the corridor earlier.

The Earth Knight was terrified, thinking that he would be killed by Li Changhe.

But then he heard the ghost's voice, "Why? Why do you say that?"

Li Changhe breathed a sigh of relief, as he had vaguely learned some of the truth from the previous scene. At the same time, he felt the enormous malice from the ghost who would have attacked him regardless of what he said.

The Earth Knight thought he had provoked the ghost, but in reality, the ghost wanted to kill both of them from the start. So naïve! Ever since the ghost revealed her consciousness and ability to speak, Li Changhe knew that the danger level of this [Task] had greatly increased.

Which conscious ghost would let itself be easily exterminated by [Players]? The [Evolution Game] was not testing the strength of [Players] in this [Task], at least not Li Changhe's strength. Instead, they had to rely on other factors...

Given their current strength, any attack meant death. So if both outcomes were death, they might as well take the riskiest path. Make her angry, make her think, make her choose!

Drowning people will cling to anything!

Li Changhe felt relieved when he heard the ghost's response.

He had just noticed that the [Task] section showed [Task progress 1/3]. In other words, some people had already completed the task.

They would provide support to the remaining task locations. This meant that there was a fifty percent chance of choosing this location!

As long as the lv5 and above [Players] came to their aid, this ghost would no longer be a threat!
