Attacking the Stronghold

Brian finally had time to rest for a bit before it was the time of attack.

He wanted to wait for the Goblin vanguard to change posts for once before he started attacking.

He arranged a tent for himself a few 100 metres near the Goblin stronghold and went to take a good power nap after asking the familiars to inform him if they spot anyone.

Brian knew that it would be a long morning for him so he wanted to stay in his best condition for the attack.

Looking at the sky which slightly indicated that it was around 4am Brian dozed off.

Unfortunately, the familiars woke him up in less than an hour as they had spotted someone exiting from the goblin stronghold.

Brian cursed himself for not having researched goblin habits before planning the attack. He had no idea when the goblins woke up in the morning and started their daily activities.

If possible, he wanted to kill everyone in sleep to not have any variables.

Brian instantly went towards the rope which he carried from the mountain and used his artifact Fire bow on the tip of the rope. Although he was afraid but there was something telling him from inside to complete the attack right now and if he didn't then it will be too late.

In normal situations, Brian would've considered it as a superstition but he strangely felt the feeling to be real.

After lighting up the rope, the flame continued burning the long rope. The only thing Brian was afraid of was the time it will take to burn the rope till it finally reaches its target. It was after all a mountain apart.

According to his calculations, it should take at least 14 minutes for the rope to burn until it finally touches the mechanism he had created.

After starting the plan, Brian rushed towards the Goblin that exited from the stronghold. He had the idea to kill the goblin before he could see the flame and cause any waves.

"ick"

As soon as Brian reached the spot, a pungent smell came into his nose. It was so bad and unexpected that he made a sound of disgust which almost blew his cover.

What awaited his sight was a green man with hooked nose and bat-shaped ears squatting down and taking a shit. There was some strange purple slimy stuff coming out of his ass.

Brian would've hated this scene even if the person in front of him was a beauty what to say about a green-shaped humanoid fat, ugly goblin that looked like a worse rip-off of 'ugly bastard' tag in hentai.

Miserably he was in the direct sight of the stronghold and if Brian tried to fight there then it would result in the army of goblins rushing out from the stronghold. So, Brian had to watch that disgusting sight for a little while longer.

The next 20 minutes were the worst time in Brian's life. He really wanted to go and ask that ugly fat goblin about what he ate last night for this much shit to come out of him.

*clink*

Finally, the loud sound of something falling came into Brian's ears. It seemed like a sound better than the best song he had heard to the current Brian.

Without wasting any time, Brian threw his dagger towards the fat ugly shitting goblin, sealing his throat. The disgust from his face finally was swapped away by seriousness.

He turned around to see the entire stronghold shrouded by black smoke. This was the effect of 25 smoke bombs falling directly above the roofs of goblin huts.

Brian hurried towards the entrance of the stronghold and started purchasing wood logs in large amounts from the Human Trade.

As soon as the trade was completed, a large amount of logs appeared in front of him. Brian knew that he couldn't make the logs appear directly on the goblin stronghold due to some restriction by the System so he made them appear near the entrance.

Without wasting any time he made the first log roll in the direction of the stronghold while continuing to purchase more and more logs.

He finally stopped only after 1000 logs were purchased.

Brian then threw a large chunk of iron in the form of a huge block covered the entrance fully. The large block of iron was purchased by the Goblins itself because the blacksmiths were a lot less in them when comparing the demand for weapons.

Exactly 7 minutes had passed when Brian finished this task.

He then took a deep breath before using his maximum speed to rush on the mountain top again.

*Thud*

*Bang*

3 minutes later, the explosive bombs dropped on the stronghold.

Brian knew that the explosives cant defeat the Goblins and hence used them just to cause more chaos. He wanted time to run up the mountain.

*Thud*

*Bang*

Another 5 minutes later, a few explosives and smoke bombs dropped on the Goblins.

Brian was rushing at his peak speed without caring about the pain in his legs. Although his physical fitness had been enhances by the cultivation manual but he was still not able to reach the speed of the top athlete on earth.

It took him more than 15 minutes to finally reach the mountain top through the shortest route.

He didn't wait for even a second before starting to push the large barrels of oil over the entire stronghold.

Before starting the attack he had already arranged all the 60 barrels in line over the edge of the cliff. He just had to remove a medium-sized rock before 60 full barrels of oil fell upon the Goblins.

Brian sat down to take a rest while waiting for the entire to fall down and create a loud noise.

After the last barrel had fallen, Brian stood up with a standard wooden bow in his hands which was freshly purchased.

Before he could take a shot he could vaguely hear the wailing sounds of Goblins from the mountain peak.

There were all kinds of sounds cursing the evildoer, asking help from the Goblin God, crying for help and what not.

What affected Brian the most were the sounds of children crying due to fear while wailing loudly for their mom and dad. Although Brian couldn't understand the Goblin language as there was no language translator of System installed here but the words like God, Evil and help were slightly similar to the ancient French on earth. Whatever be the case, the crying and wailing sounds were easily distinguished by Brian.

Brian suddenly hesitated whether to shoot or not.

If he took the shot, then Gods would notice him and then he will progress with his goal of utter dominance in [Selection Area] but his humanity was still affecting his mind. According to Brian, even the fiercest killer would get a little hesitant before killing a child.

Brian knew that he didn't have much time. Even if he decided to not kill the Goblins, he would definitely act as their savior to maximize the benefits.

He was only a little soft-hearted but not a fool.

Brian was unable to decide but time waits for none.

He suddenly remembered an incident from the time when he wasn't Brian but Raghav of a normal Indian household. His mother used to tell him to remember Shiva 'the Destroyer' according to Hindu mythology before doing something he was hesitant about.

Brian clenched his teeth, closed his eyes, and loudly shouted…

"HAR HAR MAHADEV" (take away my woes and worries oh lord shiva)

Before he took the burning arrow and shot it down without looking.

Brian was in a peculiar state right now. Due to closing his eyes and clenching his teeth he was trying hard to ignore the wailing of Goblins.

Suddenly, Brian couldn't hear anything. It wasn't just that, he felt that he was devoid of all his senses.

A change finally happened in the complete darkness. He was unable to find what happened but Brian was sure that there is something in front of him that he can't detect. It felt like it can suck everything in and Brian was afraid to go forward.

Due to fear, Brian took a step back. He was unable to decide what to do. He was sure that he couldn't go forward, so he started taking steps backward.

There was no sense of direction in utter darkness but Brian directly moved a step back due to his gut feeling.

*Thud*

3 steps later, he suddenly found himself falling down.

"Huh?!"

Brian voiced out his confusion. He suddenly found himself back on the mountain peak as he had fallen down while slipping on a small stone. He was sweating profoundly and found his condition was quite wrong

The wailing sounds were loud enough to be heard clearly by him. The echoing effect of the mountains also played a huge role

His expression changed as he felt that he will be haunted by those sounds, Brian wanted to end this as soon as possible.

So he used his last attack as well.

Before he was able to use that deadly poison a strange notification interrupted his view. He had already stopped all the notifications because he didn't want to get excited by the huge amounts of levels and unlocking of the skill if he got any.

[Hruggek is gazing at you angrily]

Brian looked at this notification and swiped it away without sparing it another look.

What a joke, he had just experienced total darkness while having no senses which was truly fearful. What could this so-called Hruggek compare to that.

With his IQ Brian could easily imagine him being some kind of Goblin God.

He didn't halt any longer and started to throw the poison-filled buckets above the wailing Goblins. He could already hear metal clings and clangs indicating that Goblins were trying to destroy the iron block he used to block their only exit.

Brian used up his last bit of remaining strength and threw all 56 fully filled poison buckets.

As soon as all the buckets were down, he used his dagger to cut the rope holding 100 crossbows together.

It was one heck of a sight to watch 100 arrows rushing down the mountain and submerging into the giant ball of smoke.

After waiting for another minute or so, Brian once again let 130 crossbows shoot together in the smoke.

Completing the action, Brian had a huge smile on his face along with the already existent tiredness. Looking at the smoke for one last time Brian hurried down the mountain once again as he knew the consequences of his action.

He had used the arrows not to kill the remaining goblins but to use the process of arrows flying towards the smoke. He wanted to make use of the wind cut by the arrow to disrupt the nearby winds and generate the flow of wind in the stronghold.

All the 230 crossbows were used just to make the potent poison mix faster with the wind and finish off the few remaining Goblins still alive after burning them alive and the constantly falling barrels and buckets on their heads. The only downside to this was that the amount of poison used by Brian was a little too much and the arrows will make the poison spread in a larger area at a fast speed which will make the possibility of him getting affected much higher.

He had already decided his way forward and left the entire mountain range.

He was only satisfied after running for 3 hours straight in the dense forest away from the mountain. Although he was aching all over his body and was just holding himself up with his sheer will but the wide smile on his face would be visible from even far away.

It wasn't just due to starting his journey towards his ultimate goal nor the levelling up notifications but it was due to…
