Two Is Better Than One?

J struggled to pull the little girl over the wall after the sudden weight was added to her but he was determined and soon enough with the help of both the black-haired girl and the redhead he was able to lift the girl over the wall and bring her to the other side.

Since the time they had left to get over the wall was running out at an alarming rate J held the little girl by her arms and let her down as softly as he could which made her fall to the ground with a thud but no injuries were apparent on her body so he quickly turned to the next task at hand.

'Phew.' J thought in his head after finally getting her through the obstacles but his job was far from over.

While J had been putting the little girl down, the first obstacle finally made it to the edge of the platform, and surprisingly everyone was able to make it through. The black-haired girl thought poorly of J once again and had been planning how she was going to make it over the wall without his help but much to her surprise once he finished laying the girl down he turned back around on top of the still moving wall and held his hand out.

"Hurry up we don't have much time!" J shouted at her and the redhead as he held his hand out.

The black-haired girl just smiled before running and jumping grabbing J's hand in the process. He quickly tried to help her to the top but when he tried to help her down the other side she shook her head denying to go.

"I will help as well." She said before moving to the other side of the wall.

People saw what they were doing and didn't waste time running toward them in a panic. By this point the wall had already reached 3/4ths of the way through the platform and time was running out for many considering that only 3 people had made it across so far.

Those that could make the jump atop the wall began doing that and throwing themselves over to safety while J and the black-haired girl grabbed the hands of those that were less physically capable and helped pull them over to the other side.

They were moving fast but not fast enough since the wall would go off into the void within moments and there were still three people left. The black-haired girl was able to grab one of them and tossed them over before jumping to safety herself since she thought that it was too close and better to save herself than risk such a high chance of dying.

J on the other hand locked his legs on the wall right as it neared the edge of the platform, both people left looked up at him in terror as they feared for their life. The edge of their feet were hanging off the side when J held both his arms out to them.

The two people took the only silver lining that they had and quickly jumped up grabbing onto J's arms. J immediately struggled under the weight of both people but with a great show of strength he took the lightest one on his right arm and threw them over the wall letting them land on the other side safely before grabbing the other person with both arms and throwing them as well to safety.

The only problem was that when J turned around to bring himself to safety he became terrified when he saw that the wall he was sitting on was already past the platform! The expanse of nothingness was below J and the only thing that waited for him if he fell were the spikes below. He also didn't want to stay on top of the wall because he had no idea where it might take him.

"HURRY! JUMP!" A voice shouted toward J and when he looked up and saw the two people he saved alongside the black-haired girl he didn't waste another moment and jumped as hard as he could toward the platform.

Despite the power of the jump J definitely wasn't going to make it. He knew from the moment he started falling down that he was barely half a foot away from reaching the ledge and being able to guarantee himself safety.

In his mind, he began wondering if he should have just let the other two die or if he should have helped the rest at all. He didn't know them and matter of fact he didn't know himself so why did he care to help them?

However, the feeling in his gut was telling him that he didn't make the wrong move and that what he did was right. Even in his mind, he didn't really have any regrets and the thought of not helping people was only a what-if. He thought that if he were able to redo it again he would do the same thing.

Right as J looked down to meet his fate head-on he suddenly stopped falling downward and felt one pair of hands on each of his arms. When J looked up he saw the two people he saved leaning over the edge of the platform, holding his arms for dear life. As they started trying to pull him up the black-haired girl also leaned over the edge and grabbed him by the shoulders pulling him over.

"Phew!" All of them said leaning back as they finally pulled J over while J quickly scooted away from the edge not wanting anything to do with it anymore.

"Thank you all." J said with a smile after moving a sufficient amount away from the edge.

"No problem. It's a small thanks for saving our lives as well." The two that he saved said to him while the black-haired girl just stared at him for a moment before saying her thoughts.

"That was completely psychotic. Why did you do that?" She said still surprised by the fact that he stood on top of the moving obstacle that went over the edge just so he could save two others.

"Well saving two lives mean more than one right?" J said laughing at himself.
