Chicken

Jonathan and Derek were beyond stunned when they heard the girl ask what they were even looking at. It was like she didn't even care where she was or how she got there and everything happening around her was completely normal. Derek was the first one to come out of his surprised state and he had his own questions for the girl.

"What do you mean what is it?! Do you even know where you are?" Derek asked in confusion wondering if the little girl knew something that they didn't and that's why she wasn't saying anything.

"Of course I don't know where I am. I don't remember a place like this." The little girl replied to Derek looking at him like he was some kind of idiot for even asking a question like that. This answer caused even more confusion to appear on Derek's face while Jonathan just watched in silence wanting to observe this strange little girl some more.

"Then why aren't you freaking out?! Shouldn't you be scared that there are strangers around you and that the food in front of you might be poisonous or something?!" Derek almost shouted trying to get some sort of reaction out of the girl that he considered to be normal.

However, contrary to his expectations, the girl didn't change her facial expression and she just furthered the look of disgust and 'What an idiot' on her face while she stared at Derek.

"Why would I do something like that? If you knew anything then you would have told me already and the food smells good so I'm going to eat it." The little girl said pouting at the end as she took the chicken and put it back into her mouth eating the food.

Derek had no words left coming out of his mouth as he just stared at the girl confused by the strange demeanor she was showing but Jonathan decided just to accept the weirdness of the girl since it wasn't like she was any weirder than the situation they were in.

"If you can't remember your name there's a slip below you that tells you." Jonathan told the little girl deciding against trying to question her any further.

The little girl seemed to go into thought for a moment as her tiny mouth stopped chewing the food for a moment. After a few seconds of stopping, she stood up from her chair and turned around finding the slip sitting in the middle of the chair. She wasted no time taking her little hands to scoop the slip up and bringing it to her face to read the words written on it.

"Angela." She whispered just loud enough that Jonathan and Derek could hear what she said. Now that Jonathan knew her name he smiled and tried to start making conversation with the new girl.

"So it's Angela huh? Nice to meet you I'm Jonathan." Jonathan said sticking his larger hand out for a handshake with the girl.

She turned her head slightly surprised that Jonathan had heard her but nonetheless she hesitantly stuck her tiny hand out and shook hands with Jonathan before quickly tucking her hands back.

'So she is a little nervous.' Jonathan thought to himself when he saw Angela jerk her hand away quickly after shaking Jonathan's. It seems that her cool and calm demeanor had slightly cracked when she realized she didn't remember her name and was only furthered when she was caught off guard by Jonathan hearing her.

"Nice to meet you too." Angela said after she finally started to compose herself. She was still a little shaken but from Derek's view she was still the exact same as when they had started talking.

Angela had expected Jonathan to continue asking her questions or make conversation but when she turned to look at him she saw that he had turned back to his food and was now enjoying the meal as well. Derek beside him was also looking at him in confusion wondering what he was doing and why he was taking the situation so calmly but he had no clue about the plan Jonathan had in his head.

After a few moments Angela also started eating once more and eventually Derek began eating as well. That's how they spent the next 10 or so minutes until Angela finished her chicken and began pushing away all the vegetable that looked unappealing to her.

"You want those?" Jonathan asked her as he talked to her for the first time since she had initially woken up.

Angela looked toward Jonathan in confusion wondering what his goal was but ended up shaking her head not wanting them, "You can have them." Angela said pushing her plate toward Jonathan.

Jonathan quickly took her plate and pushed her vegetables onto his before he took a piece of his chicken that he had cut off earlier and placed it on her plate before sliding it back. When Angela saw this she looked at him in confusion wondering what this meant.

"What's this for?" Angela questioned Jonathan as she pointed at the chicken on her plate.

"My part of the deal of course. You didn't think you were giving me something and getting nothing in return did you?" Jonathan said back to her leaving her in a thoughtful state as she thought about his words.

After thinking about it for a moment Angela reached out grabbing her plate and began eating the chicken not answering or saying anything more about her and Jonathan's conversation.

Jonathan didn't say anything either and began eating the vegetables under the gaze of Derek who was still wondering what was happening. Derek then decided to not care any more since he had no clue and just left it to Jonathan to figure out. After that thought he began eating his meal in silence as well.

'She's rather interesting.' Jonathan thought as he glanced at the little girl wondering where she got the ability to hide her true thoughts but he also knew that she probably didn't know either since none of them knew anything about their past selves.
