Rifts

"Do you have to kill her?" Tessa asked.

"Do you want her to live?" Pel asked coldly.

"She never tried to kill us" Tessa argued gaining only a scoff from Pel.

The person in question was already unconscious so he did not feel the need to interfere more than he had already done.

He then made his clones disappear while Taxao appeared next to him silently pleading not to return to his space.

Pel almost smiled. "Ito send us back"

"You're leaving?" Flora asked with surprise.

"Do you need something?" Pel asked confused.

"No, but allow us to thank you at least"

Pel stared at her with a blank expression. "There is no need...we do not owe each other now. Ito"

[Affirmative]

The next moment he disappeared along with the weird while creature with him.

"I can't believe he left, just like that" Flora muttered in disbelief.

Adam stared at her and snickered. "What did you expect?...it's already good enough that he came to save us, he doesn't consider us friends"

Flora ignored him and walked closer to Tessa. "How did he appear out of nowhere anyway?"

"I do not know" Tessa shook her head, her thoughts were somewhere else. "Do you understand what she meant when she said I have advanced?"

Flora school her head, she could maybe make a wild guess but this kind of thing required certainty.

Pel arrived in the passage feeling rather lightheaded, his vision was jumbled and sweat tickled down his forehead thankfully, Tulip was walking not so far away.

"I've been looking for you, where did you go?"

Pel held his head and groaned. "Just went out to solve some issue"

"Are you feeling alright, you do not look so good"

He was looking rather pale and in breathing wasn't even steady. She then touched his forehead to check his temperature which startled him and he reflexively hit her hand away.

Tulip rolled her eyes. "I was just checking to see if you had a fever"

"It's just headache" Pel sighed. "I'm sure I'll be fine after a bit of rest"

"How about taking drugs?"

Pel stared at her as if she was dumb. "If Ito can't cure my headache, you think your drugs can?" he scoffed.

Tulip was speechless. This guy wasn't feeling alright and yet he still had enough energy to look down on her. "Yes, yes you have all the greatest things in the world. Let me take you to your room"

Pel nodded and went with her while doing his best to keep his eyes open. What the heck was going on?

[I suggest Host calls for Crista]

'You think I should rely on a human female'

[Didn't you say female was to cringe?]

Pel paused his steps and frowned. He did say that...maybe he just needed rest.

The moment he entered his room, he entered the shower and with water splashing over his head he felt a lot calmer than before.

"So Ito, would you mind elaborating...what exactly is wrong with me?"

[Host should be able to answer the question better]

"What does that mean?" Pel scoffed before rubbing some soap.

[Host appears to be dissatisfied with humans all of a sudden]

"There isn't much to be satisfied with anyway" the response he gave wasn't something even he expected.

Though they were a lower race he didn't have the feeling of hate, maybe curiosity and a strong dislike for the bad ones but he held respect for those like Tulip.

When that thought entered his mind, he wondered if the reason was because Tulip wasn't human. "You know what, I think you're right...it might be cause I'm spending less time with actual humans"

Crista was surprised when Pel suddenly sent for her. The confusion did not prevent her from finding out. Wearing a smile, she knocked but it turned out he just requested her company and when she appeared he went to sleep.

* * *

It took three days for Pel to return to his normal self and his synchronization rate was back to 32%...Pel felt like this stat was a variable that could not be measured with common sense but who cared, at least his headache was gone now.

Kingsley had returned to his Academy two days before and Crista had remained adamant about going wherever Pel went and so he had to take her along to Green Town.

It was a small town under the Telons family but for almost a month, it had been on lockdown with no one welcomed in and apparently, no one was allowed to leave either.

With the excuse of renovating, they shut everyone out but the truth was that a Rift classified as rank D had opened up in the middle of the city.

The problem wasn't the fact that they were hiding it from the rest of the world but the resident living in that place was affected by the corrupted mana sipping out from the Rift.

These residents had not been treated nor were they taken care of. The Tolens did not see the need to burden themselves with that many infected and so decide to speed up their plan.

The ranking exercise was a ruse to disguise the selection of powerful awakened students and go down as the first Academy to enter a Rift.

The reason they were so daring was because the 15 major families all had information on Rifts but no one expected one to open so soon and although they were disadvantaged, it could not outweigh the advantages.

So the Telons wanted to rip as many benefits as possible before revealing the news to the outside world but this behavior of theirs irked Pel to no end.

As Pel read through the file again, he suddenly remembered Rosabeth's words.

"The array of which you came shouldn't have worked the way it did and that means there's a problem. The surface must still be trying to adapt to mana so if spiritual essence spills in, it will become chaotic. Many will use this chance...that's all I can tell you"

'I wonder if this is what she meant, I feel that more Rifts will only cause chaos'
