The Only Weapon(Finale)

The purple hawk just seemed to stare at Rowan while at the same time, he could feel a connection to the being. Em hardly looked up as she pounded away with the hammer. "The system called it a weapon spirit, but other than that, I don't really know. I think it's the result of one of my skills mixed with you attuning to the weapon.

The system asked for 6 levels for any more relevant information on it at my current level, so I'm going to let that one go until I know more about it; I don't think it's anything bad actually, there's a good chance that it's actually a really good thing, but I can't tell you what it does or anything I can tell you something interesting though. When I was done setting up the weapon for its quick use, I had to technically finish the weapon through the system, and I swear it applied these weird letters to it that I could not understand really then my hand was guided to carve them but it is why I was confident in going back and turning it into the weapon for you that I actually envisioned, but when I completed it, the system asked me three times if I was sure I wanted to give you the weapon despite it forming the weapon spirit so whatever this little guy is, it's rather important it seems so just let it stay in your weapon and we will see what happens with it. Just let me know when it does."

Em put her head back down and into her work at the same time. Rowan stood up to get a better view of the process. Em's workshop ability created a forge perfect for her, which looked incredibly funny to Rowan. Em had also changed since the first time that Rowan had seen her. At the time, he had hardly been able to tell that it was a little girl, but that was no longer the case. Her hair had grown out significantly and had gained a metallic shimmer. It was platinum, just like the flame she now used on the weapon.

She had diamond shaped groupings of scales that were splotched on her arms as well as a particularly large scale on her forehead that had been completely hidden by her bangs. Her hair was up now as she worked, but Rowan could see the muscles in her arm flexing with her every action. The young girl had changed a lot from when he first met her. All of a sudden, he felt a feeling of danger and the falcon that was still perched let out a raptor call in warning. Rowan tapped the ground and flew into the far wall right as Em slammed the hammer down and the platinum flame became a tornado around her and shot towards the ceiling. All of a sudden it all drained into her hammer, causing it to glow with a platinum light that almost seemed to glow blue.

She brought the hammer down once and a flash of light so bright that it blinded Rowan bounced around the room. She quickly grabbed the other half and threw it over it as she slammed down again and all the black color faded away to reveal a beautiful platinum beneath while at the same time the two parts of the spear were fusing into a single weapon. Rowan could see none of this at the moment though, the platinum tornado of flame was too bright for him to see.

The two parts were molten and fusing into each other when she took the several things she had set aside clapped them between her hands and began to use her palms to grind them into powder, while as peculiar as it was her arm scales actually slid to her palms and became the perfect grinder and she broke down everything right in her palms. She sprinkled the powder over the weapon as it began to glow from the heat from the platinum flame. A rainbow smoke shot into the air as the glow got so bright that Rowan could no longer see the weapon. The sky started to rumble right as this happened as the purple lightning falcon immediately took flight and zoomed towards the roof.

A rainbow colored bolt of lightning shot through the roof like a concentrated beam that was aimed towards Em when the falcon swooped and swallowed the entire beam. The falcon beak snapped down with enough force that it sounded like its own clap of thunder. It was like the wind became a suction force for the falcon as the rainbow lightning became a docile worm that the falcon slurped up. It landed right back where it was and looked at Rowan.

Em had never realized what had happened to begin with while the falcon looked at him and burped, which triggered rainbow lightning to come out of its mouth and squirm across its body in a cycle before the amethyst swallowed it. It seemed to grow by a bit and seemed ready for something. The bird took off from the back of a chair it was standing on and with one flap of its wings; it reached the roof and then dove in a mighty swoop towards the glowing weapon. The two forces collided, and Em's workshop got blown to bits.

Rowan noticed that it was actually gathering back towards itself and his eyes widened as the workshop reformed. But the damage had also been done. The glow was slowly fading and while Rowan could not see the weapon itself, he could see Em sitting there with a massive shield right in front of her. Her whole body was smoking and her goggles were covered in cracks that were repairing themselves. The glow finally began to fade and Rowan could finally see the weapon. Rowan was about to comment when Em held a hand up. "It's so much easier if I just tell you about it rather than you ask me. Just give me a second to catch my breath. I think I almost just died."

[The host, known as Em, should be proud of her achievement. You have completed a creation that has gotten the attention of the heavens. Congratulations on the achievement. Generating a status for a unique Astra series, please wait.] Em nodded her head at the notification that she and Rowan both shared and then turned to Rowan. "So recently I've recalled stories that my mother used to tell me when I was going to bed. She used to say that we were from a long line of warriors, but there was one warrior that stood out more than the others, a mighty general who slayed foes across the stars. He had a mighty weapon that was a staff made of gold capable of changing its size and multiplying at will. So when I was designing your weapon, I took inspiration from that, but that doesn't truly fit your fighting style. I've seen you fight a good bit and while you were good with the daggers, you were better with the spear but at the same time, I've seen you struggle with your strength the past couple of days and I know you will only get more and more monstrous as the system thinks. So I'll introduce you to your Astra, the Weathervane!"

She flung her hands up into the air and the weapon rose up and shot towards Rowan. He snatched it out of the air and was finally able to admire the weapon while em continued her speech to his side. "Now the weapon you used before was a spear and it was cool and all but it was nothing more than a prototype to this beauty.Truthfully what i really needed was your mana and to gather fighting data and two fights as crazy as the ones you just had got me that. Rowan inspected the weapon as he realized no matter where he held it, it still felt perfectly balanced.

It was completely platinum, while the smooth bar from before looked twisted to give the appearance that two weapons were melded together so that the whole weapon looked like a massive stake. The area in which it was twisted together formed lines that looked like lightning bolts up and down the weapon. His soul also seemed to be reaching for the weapon subconsciously, even before he reestablished his connection with it.

"Quick, infuse your mana and then I can continue, of course, that will also establish your connection." Rowan complied and the lines on the weapon began to glow amethyst as it looked like the bolts of lightning were made from the actual crystal. The whole weapon began to hum and the raptor call of a falcon filled the room and blasted so loudly into their ears that they both shuddered. Rowan could feel the weapon coming to life in his hands as a falcon appeared right before the spearhead that was shaped like a sharpened feather, but the grooves on the blade accentuated the feather-shaped blade.

The falcon flapped its wings and sent out a wave of feathers that rained down the shaft of the blade, turning into rain drops that seemed to be trapped and falling inside of the weapon. Rowan's eyes followed the rain to the other end of the weapon that was no longer capable of the option of another spear head like before because the other side of the weapon now looked like a weathervane. The empty circle was a loop of pure platinum and perfectly in the center, a falcon with amethyst gem-like eyes that seemed to be blinking at him and four wings. The falcon's wing tips touched the platinum rings while it was perched on a spear that crossed the entire platinum ring.

Rowan's mana flowed through it seamlessly; he swiped through the air and left a trail of purple light with each swipe. He smiled and was about to comment when Em's forging hammer slammed into his head. "Hey bird brain, I didn't create such a cool weapon for you to just use it like a normal spear. Now let's get to the good part!" Em pulled out these gloves and handed them to rowan. The moment he had them fully pulled on, they changed size to perfectly fit. They were plain and black, but there was a raised falcon that mirrored the back of the weathervane on it. Rowan moved his mana and now he could feel both the gloves and weathervane had formed a peculiar link. "So now let's go over the forms first. Its current form is called its base form and while it's effective in this form, use it only for foes you will dispatch quickly. Now repeat after me as I say the other form names because the weapon will change based on you saying it verbally."

Rowan nodded his head and held the weapon out. "Okay, so first up. This next form is made for you to fight groups of enemies at once. I call it the rain form." Rowan said rain form out loud and the weapon shrunk to the size of a dagger and began to rapidly multiply. "Now the gloves work with every form but in this form it is particularly lethal, the weapon will continue to multiply so long as you supply the mana the gloves use your mana to connect each one to your fingertips which will allow you minute control of the weapon at all times while at the same time when you grow stronger the gloves will be able to link it to your mind, the gloves are actually just to create what i call cloud strings.

They are multipurpose strings that you can fiddle with and learn how to use on your own. I think it will have some cool applications other than it being a link while you are still weak." Rowan flexed his fingers and the twenty blades that they had become swam through the air with almost zero wind resistance. They began to swim around him while still multiplying and he smiled while Em continued.

"The second form is the wind form or cloud form, formless just like the wind. It's made for when you face enemies that can't be beat by normal means. They could have too high of a defense or just have a weak point that you can't hit. This will allow you to attack internally. It will take on the form of clouds and can be used to defend because the cloud is made of the platinum and lowite filament that is invisible blades.

You can use the cloud form to defend yourself and the wind form for perfect unseen attacks." Rowan started with cloud form and the weapon seemed to shatter and fall apart and in its place a ring of clouds wrapped around his wrist compressing itself into a band of clouds before bursting into a cloud capable of encompassing the entire room. "Yes, the size of the cloud can be changed based on the amount of mana that you use for it and the band form that you just pulled off is a way that you can keep your weapon at the ready instead of inside your soul where you have to summon it out."

Rowan said activated wind form, and the weapon vanished. The gloves changed and pieces of platinum stuck to them so that the falcon was standing on a platinum boomerang instead of a spear. Rowan swiped his left hand across the air and a blade of wind shot across the room and cut his couch in half. He could feel weathervane in every swipe of his hands. it's like he had extended its range and melded into the wind, making it the perfect silent killer. "Now last but certainly not least , you needed a weapon that could take advantage of your strength and was versatile but this last form, it's for those fights against the boss level enemies. I call it bolt form.

It will grow heavier or lighter based on your whim , despite the full weight of your strength being perfectly utilized between each blow. It's the weapon most suited to you, I think, and dueling." Rowan allowed the weapon to enter its bolt form with the vocal command as the weapon morphed. The weathervane end turned into a massive spike with the weathervanes image emblazoned on it. The spear head went back to its normal feather shape and then the metal that originally made up the weathervane became a crescent moon shaped ax blade, but the inside of it was jagged like a lightning bolt causing it to look like the mouth of a hungry beast.

The weapon had become a halberd as another short blade grew out of the other side. Rowan could feel a wave of strength from the weapon and smiled in satisfaction and was just thinking to himself how much he wanted to test out this new weapon when time seemed to slow to a crawl in preparation for the delivery of another quest.
