Descending Into Trouble

Rowan was well beyond the capabilities of his world any longer, so it took him no more than a matter of moments to be done everything he needed and retrieve Camille and Em before he appeared in the middle of nowhere. Evergreen World as it was called was tiny, the climate on the entire planet was currently in a state of fall, so it came as a surprise to Rowan as he arrived at the location in the middle of a forest dyed by the colors of fall and landed in front of a shack that looked run down.

Rowan had Camille and Em with him and they each noticed the same peculiarities with the shack upon arriving in front of it. The shack was clearly made from wood that was aged and rotten at this point but also parts had fallen away to reveal what should be gaps in the building which would allow one to see inside but instead when he looked through there was nothing but an inky blackness that he was unable to see through.

Em inspected the whole shack before she approached the front door and inspected it before she lightly tapped on the wood and it slid unnaturally to reveal a palm imprint. A holographic screen revealed itself above the location. [Place Hand here for admission]. It was less than a second later that Em put her hand on it that another message floated up for them all to see. [Mana levels verified, please step inside.] They followed her actions, and all walked in seconds after each other and were surprised by what they saw next.

The room was certainly not a shack on the inside as Rowan walked into the most high tech room that he had ever been in. There were lights and levers situated on a desk, while in front of the desk was a round platform. There was a note on the desk that Rowan read. "Rowan, use the three buttons to the right of this note to set the teleporter to the Interstellar academy, use the three buttons to the right to be brought to our ship in case that you have completed your tasks early and have arrived ahead of time. Signed Feng."

Rowan smiled at the note as he turned to look at Camille. Em was still walking around the room looking at the different things in the room and taking in the technology that she had never seen before. "We can go to the academy ahead of time, but the other option is following wherever Feng and his master went and teleporting to their ship." Camille seemed to think about it for a second before she answered. "We may as well go see Feng and his master. You never met his master and I think that would be good, plus if you both have to participate in this test, it's probably better for us to go meet them first." Rowan nodded and was about to hit the buttons when Em exclaimed out loud.

"Big bro Rowan, do you know how amazing this place is? The technology here is like eons behind any of this, and here it was sitting in a shack in the middle of nowhere, wanna know something even crazier I was able to infer that if a zombie were to touch that pad outside the whole place would have blown up, there are even bombs under the floor where you guys are standing." The next five minutes she launched into an explanation of all the things in the room that Rowan had no understanding of while Camille stood off the side laughing as the little girl dragged Rowan around the room to explain things that she realistically should have no clue about, something that Rowan assumed was a result of the little girls interaction with the system.

They finally pressed the buttons and stood in the disk as each of them thought of their homeworld and when the next time they would be back here would be.They each had very different feelings as mana coated their bodies from the platform and started the transportation process. They each had different things that they were thinking about as the process began, but all in all, in all, they all thought about the same thing, which was the memories that would be forever bound to this world they called home.

The process was quick, and before they even knew it, they were all being transported to their destination. There was a slight feeling of discomfort before Rowan felt the nausea and a massive ringing in his ears, then a flash later they appeared in a room bathed in red glow . It was then that Rowan realized that the red glow was in fact an alarm that was going off and that the teleportation had messed up his hearing but it was quickly returning to the point that he could hear a steady robotic voice in his ear reading off several damages. Camille and Em lay on the floor next to him unconscious and laying in a puddle of what he assumed was vomit and a quicker pulse of mana confirmed the fact.

Rowan wobbled and then gained his bearings. The room he was in was spacious and a door was open leading into what looked like some type of corridor. He released his mana in the form of a cloud that began to spread into the surroundings like a balloon being inflated. It traveled through the door and began building a map in his mind as it touched the different things around the ship. His master had stressed the importance of being able to capture your entire environment in a new situation and this was a solution he had developed. His storm mana was intricately linked to him in a way that astounded even his master. The tiniest parts of his mana was capable of feeding him information from something like he was touching it himself.

Rowan quickly created a mana dome to protect the girls before he rushed out of the room. The ship wasn't large and Rowan had identified the cockpit and he made his way there because he had also realized a very important point which was that not only was the cockpit empty but based on the messages he was hearing the ship must have crash landed wherever it was and Feng and his master must have met some type of misfortune. He reached the cockpit in seconds and received his answer to his questions thanks to the massive viewing zone on this vessel.

Rowan could see amidst a sea of zombies and insect like creatures that were sieging him from all sides while in the sky a dapper man in a suit fought an earthshaking battle with several shadowy figures that Rowan couldn't identify. Rowan wished upon nothing but to charge out but his spell earlier had showed him that the ship was sealed and he couldn't just break through because if he damaged this ship and they were stuck here then he would be screwing them all if this was a planet where the teleporter was already destroyed they would be stranded somewhere in the vastness of space.

It was right when he was thinking this that he felt a gentle knock against the barrier he had set up around Em. He dashed back and removed it and he picked her up as she struggled to her feet. "Em, you think that you could get the doors of this ship to open if I took you to the cockpit?" She nodded weekly and he was off again and in front of the cockpit, Feng's mana was starting to wane and if he could see that then the enemies out there could as well. He gently lowered Em to the center console that had a plethora of switches, levers and buttons and she reached out weakly and laid her hand on it.

Golden mana bloomed from her hands and surged into the console and golden lines bloomed around the console and spread throughout the whole area of the ship before they all abruptly vanished and a door on the side started to open. Rowan smiled at Em and put her in a seat along the wall and used just enough mana to cause her to pass out again. Being in close contact with her had told him that she was, in fact, very weak right now. Maybe a result of where they had been warped, too. Rowan walked outside and noticed that the air carried a pungent odor of blood and something else. He didn't mind it though, and the increased gravity was barely anything compared to wherever his master lived.

He walked out into the open and flung his hand backward and caused a wall of clouds to form on the door opening, sealing it so no one would be able to get past him. He began to walk forward into throngs of enemies as he slowly flexed his muscles. Ever since he returned here, he had not been able to fully exercise himself compared to what he had done in the past year. He reached the back of the enemies before anyone even noticed he was there when, all of a sudden, a massive falcon spread across the battlefield bearing massive killing intent that pressed down on the entire field. The entire battlefield went silent and turned towards the newcomer while at the same time Rowan smiled at Feng, who could now see him through the unmoving enemies. "Friend, allow me to show you the berserker you helped give life to on that day!"
