He glanced at the end of the street, where a camera had a clear view of the street where the massacre took place, and said, "Kian, follow me."
Kian, who stood next to the black-haired man, nodded in response and followed him. He was the second in command, while the black-haired man was the first.
Despite landing in military helicopters, none of the twenty men were wearing uniforms as they were not part of the army.
The twenty men belonged to the awakened security force, also referred to as "ASP" by the general public. They were special organizations in the world that dealt with those who misused their awakened abilities. They were an organization composed solely of adventurers as well.
These twenty men were selected adventures of ASP. Unlike the Adventures Union, there was no way for you to enter unless you were selected by them.
The black-haired man and Kian arrived at a small brick building and entered it. Upon entering, they were greeted by a chubby man, sitting in a chair as he looked at the multiple screens in front of him.
He heard the door of the room open. He spun the chair around to see who it was.
"S-sir Rhys. What are you doing here?"
He had been playing games on the computer, so he hadn't seen the massacre or the arrival of Rhys Lloyd and the other men of ASP.
"Pull up the footage of the last hour of Ashford Loke." Rhys Lloyd said, calmly.
"Y-yes, sir." The chubby man said, a cold sweat forming on his forehead. He turned around and quickly pulled up the footage.
The footage started and all that could be seen was hundreds of people walking through the street.
"Fast forward until I say stop."
The chubby man didn't say anything and did what he was told. He fast forward as the people within the footage sped by, never seizing to stop.
Time on the bottom left of the screen flew by until the footage showed the giant ice spikes erupting from the center of the moving crowd, killing hundreds of innocent civilians.
"Stop. Rewind..."
The door to the room opened as a man came in. He was one of the members of the ASP.
"Captain, I have something that you need to see." The man said.
Rhys irritatedly looked at him. "Is it urgent?"
"Yes."
"Fine. Kian, you stay here and get the footage of the massacre. Send the footage to me. I'll watch it later." Rhys said and left the building with him.
Rhys followed him, and they soon came upon ten human adventures. All of them lay on the ground, not moving an inch as they were dead, while several ASP members were investigating the scene.
He crouched next to the closest adventure to him. It was a young, skinny man, seeming to be no older than 15 years old.
"What is so urgent about ten adventures dying here?" Rhys asked, irritated. He was told this was urgent, but instead there were just another ten adventures that had died. What's so urgent about that?
"It's not about them dying..."
"Get to the point already."
"Alright." The man handed him a tablet. "Look at the place where we are."
Rhys took the tablet and looked at the location displayed on it.
"This was the location of a trans-dimensional dungeon gate." He handed the tablet back to the man. "Are there any signs of a break out?"
"No, there are signs of the dungeon opening, but no break out." The man answered.
"Stay here and look for anything that we might have missed. Try to find anything that could possibly tie this crime to the massacre. You guys are also responsible for taking the bodies back to the base. We would need them to find out more about their cause of death," he said, all in a breath.
"I will be with Kian. If you need anything, you can tell me," he continued before he left.
Rhys walked through the streets connected to the street where the massacre took place and soon found Kian in the distance.
He approached Kian and heard him interrogating a civilian. "Did you see anyone suspicious pass by here? They should've been in a hurry."
"A suspicious person who was in a hurry passed by? No, I don't remember seeing anyone like that." The man shivered in fear after witnessing the massacre.
"You can leave now. That's all I have for you." Kian sighed, seeing the man leave to go back to his own business.
