"We've asked so many people who were close to the scene of the massacre, but none of them says they saw anyone flee the area. Is it possible that the murderer fled before the massacre started? Could a long-distance attack have been the cause?" Kian lamented.
Rhys gave a small headshake in opposition to the notion of Kian. He turned to face the street where the atrocity had taken place before he answered, his voice a little lower than usual but calm, "I don't think so."
He continued, "The person was certainly there when the massacre occurred. For the attack to be a long-distance attack, the culprit's magic tier would need to be at least Tier 5, but from the spikes, it's only radiating a Tier 2 magic spell. There must be someone who saw this person escaping from the scene."
"I hope it's as you say, or else we'd have a person on the loose who could kill hundreds or maybe even thousands of people without even being present at the scene." Kian nodded his head softly as he hoped they weren't wrong.
…
Time passed, and the sun was going down slowly. The evening sunlight showed on the streets in an attempt to keep the day from coming to a close.
The ASP members kept interrogating the citizens who were near the scene without any break, trying to find any little clue that could lead to the whereabouts of the culprit. They were too immersed to feel any tiredness.
They had spread out to widen the interrogation, asking hundreds of citizens about this. Unfortunately, none of the citizens were able to provide them with the information they needed.
None of them saw a person who hurried away from the scene that last looked suspicious, as everyone was running away from the scene due to mass panic of not wanting to die.
Unbeknownst to them, there was one place they hadn't looked, as they assumed the culprit had run off with the crowd of citizens. Within a room that was difficult to find unless you searched carefully, lay a beautiful girl who looked to be eleven years old. She was sleeping peacefully on her ice bed till now, unaware of her enemies who were not too far away.
Mmmn." She moaned, rubbing her eyes before opening them, "Where am I?"
She looked around in confusion until the memories of what she had done and where she was flashed into her mind. A tear ran down her cheek due to her emotions spilling out that she tried to keep in before.
When she came out of her confusion, she wiped her tears, muttering, "I have no right to cry for what I did. I have to hold on to my emotions; it's the least I can do for all the innocent humans I killed."
After wiping away her tears, she sealed away her emotions and looked down at herself. She didn't have time to check the changes from the evolution before, but now she had all the time in the world.
"My height grew by two inches along with my cup size, which grew to a B cup." Aurora said, a smile forming on her face. "Nothing else changed, but at the rate this is going, I'll look mostly the same, besides the hair, eye, and skin color."
She stood up from the ice bed and dispelled it. After leaving the room, she walked to the same window she was at when the massacre occurred and looked out.
She saw the beautiful sunset in the distance, shining upon this land. "I slept for that long, the sun is already setting. I suppose I was really tired then."
She noticed a little more than a dozen people searching the area, some even talking to others—this gave her an ominous feeling of them being dangerous.
When she put her eyes on a black-haired man who wore a black coat with a gray shirt, that ominous feeling rose, as she felt a sense of danger from him.
The man glanced at the location where she was, but she ducked and pulled her eyes off of him as quickly as possible.
"Did he see me?"
…
On the street where the massacre occurred, Rhys stood there with Kian after getting the odd feeling of someone looking at him.
He glanced at where he felt someone was looking at him. Not finding anyone, he asked Kain. "Did you also get the feeling of being watched?"
"No, it was probably a misconception since you have had any rest since we got here." Kian answered, shaking his head.
"Probably." Rhys nodded.
