Chapter 53. [Bonus!]

A girl who seemed to be in her mid 20s came out of a theatre with teary eyes. Her glassy brown eyes looked red as if she hadn't slept for weeks. She was shaking the whole time ever since she came out and walking a bit away from the theatre, she started crying loudly. Her sobs echoed throughout the busy street air, yet no one seemed to give a damn. But the people who kept walking past her kept looking at her wondering what was wrong with her, but were too busy to stop and ask her what the problem was.

She walked towards the nearest bench and sat down after closing her eyes tightly.

"Why am I never good enough to pursue what I want? Why can't I ever be someone who can make the judges say yes to me like the other girls! Why is it always me? Why do I have to lack skills!" She kept talking to herself and pulling the ends of her silky black hair which was long enough to reach her elbows.

"It always seemed to be the same result, rejection," She sobbed for a few more minutes sitting alone just where she was.

She had just left an audition where she had been asked to act like a young girl who was deeply in love. For once, she thought she would be able to nail it, but she messed up her lines and her acting went worse than ever.

"Yes, thank you, we will call you later," As soon as she heard the words slipping out of the casting director, she knew it was the end of her audition.

The same line, "we will call you later," is basically what they say to mean, "Thank you for being here, this will be the last time we meet," which crushed every hope for her.

Ian was in the library with a lot of books and magazines filling the shelves busy. But, without giving a care to them, he was in his own world in front of the laptop screen, adding the finishing touches and typing out the script of 'Green Book'.

Reverse angle reveals Johnny, Nicola, Rudy, Louie, Anthony, everyone... watching them, stunned and speechless. No one budges. Shirley smiles nervously. Long pause. Then finally Johnny stands.

—--------------------------------

Johnny Well: "Come on, make some room! Get the man a plate!" Dolores approaches Shirley.

Dr. Shirley: "You must be Dolores."

She smiles and he hands her the champagne.

Dr. Shirley: (cont'd) "Buon Natale. Thank you for sharing your husband with me."

She smiles. Dolores hugs Shirley and whispers in his ear…

Dolores: "And thank you for helping with the letters."

Shirley, surprised, laughs. Closes in on Dolores - She smiles, and we cut to black.

THE END

EPILOGUE

Dr. Donald Shirley continued to tour, compose, and record. He was awarded the Isaac Stern Medallion, and was the only other Carnegie studio resident, besides Leonard Bernstein, who performed annually at Carnegie Hall. During his prolific career, he composed three symphonies, two piano concerti, a cello concerto, three string quartets, a one-act opera, a symphonic tone poem based on Finnegan's Wake, and a set of "Variations" on the legend of Orpheus in the Underworld.

Frank "Tony Lip" Vallelonga went back to his job at the Copacabana, eventually becoming the maître d', until its closing in 1973. It was at the Copa where he met Francis Ford Coppola, who cast him in a small role in The Godfather. This led to an impressive acting career, including roles in Raging Bull, The Pope Of Greenwich Village, Donnie Brasco, and Goodfellas. Lip is best known for his portrayal of New York crime boss Carmine Lupertazzi in the HBO series The Sopranos. Tony Lip and Dr. Shirley would remain lifelong friends until their deaths within months of each other in 2013.

He typed the ending and closed the laptop because he felt he needed a break. He had been typing for quite some time which probably isn't healthy for his brain or body. He stood up and went to his room to get some rest by laying on the bed, yet he knew his brain wouldn't settle down for a few more hours.

After getting comfortable on the bed wearing his pajamas and his head on the pillow, he thought a bit about his future projects.

Green Book will surely be produced by him, but not directed. It will be distributed by Renner Studios, of course, yet Ian wanted to think more about what his next movie, which he will direct, is going to be.

He had so many reasons for why he chose Green Book. It was mainly because of the upcoming ideas he had after he wanted to produce it. But also, it was because of how Green Book became a massive hit in his previous world.

Green Book had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2018, where it won the People's Choice Award. It was then theatrically released in the United States on November 16, 2018, by Universal Pictures, and grossed $321 million worldwide. The film received positive reviews from critics, with praise for the performances of Mortensen and Ali, although it also drew some criticism for its depiction of both race and Shirley.

Green Book had received numerous awards and nominations. It won the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor (for Ali). It also won the Producers Guild of America Award for Best Theatrical Motion Picture, the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, and the National Board of Review award for the best film of 2018, and was chosen as one of the top 10 films of the year by the American Film Institute. Ali also won the Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, and BAFTA Awards for Best Supporting Actor.

Ian was feeling good about the choice of Green Book, knowing all of these details. On the other hand, there were many plans.

With Lucifer being in the hands of LeoTV for now, he decided that he would focus on three more movies to produce. The series of course would be his responsibility, but before that, he had other reasons why he wanted to produce three more movies. Taking his phone from the nightstand, he kept typing things in the notepad. He would direct one movie, and the other two would be given to someone else to direct. Although the production would be solely under his nose.

Currently, he had gotten a great foot in movies with Home Alone and La La Land. Around next year, Home Alone 2 would be released which was also in his mind. Now, with all the money and fame he has, he wanted to hit the hammer. For that, he wanted to think about something big and something that can make people change their perspectives on him.

Something that can totally show the worth of Renner Studios. He wanted to select a good deal this time around, so he sat on the bed to think more about it.

A new good series, a blockbuster which can be popular for years, something out of the genres he had worked on,... Thinking about so many movie titles and storylines, he decided what he wanted to do in no time.

He wanted to start a superhero franchise.

Ian felt a new thrill with his decision and he stood right away. 'Let's get this done, now shall we?' He walked back into the library in an instant.

Opening the laptop screen, he closed the script of Green Book, of course not before saving it. Then, he opened a new blank screen which gave him more space than necessary to type his next movie title.

"Batman begins"

"I think it's time for me to get my own team so that I can stop troubling you," Ian said and chuckled while Mason looked at him.

"Troubling? If you call the business "trouble", I'm not sure what will happen if I start calling it one. Honestly, Ian, It's no big deal," Mason said and shook his head while focusing back on the screen of his laptop.

"No really, it would be much better for the company. You can act as the producer and handle that aspect of the movies while I can just work on certain movies." Ian said while Mason knew what he was trying to say was true.

But from the inside, Ian wanted Mason to stick to the movies with him. It was because if real people like Ryan Gosling exist in this world, there's a high possibility that creations such as Titanic or even Avatar might also exist. Ian wanted Mason to keep an eye on such interesting projects, so even if they are original and good, they could easily invest in them. Which might be a win-win for every party.

"The lawyers called in the morning, they are thoroughly looking through the proofs you sent them and I'm sure it will all be fine in no time," Mason said.

"Hmm… As it should," Ian smiled back at Mason.
