The news of Ian doing his first movie hit the roof. Fans of Hollywood around the world were shocked, surprised, or completely taken aback. It was almost as if they get to witness things they thought would only happen in a fantasy world. But most commonly, everyone was waiting for what was yet to come, into their reality.
Ever since Ian won his first Oscar after releasing two movies, with no prior experiences in the industry, it was considered something really huge and fascinating for almost every Hollywood follower.
Hitting the peak in Hollywood for a newbie was a unique case, and Ian being someone who did that without even trying too hard
People admired Ian knowing how good he was behind the scenes, and to see him working on the scene, was something different. It was also a commonly known fact that more than half the people who had seen him on screen and in person wanted him to act one way or another. His looks, his actions, and even many directors wanted Ian to have a part in their movies.
"Okay, this scene is going to be shot in two directions. And in both shots, I want the expressions to be clearly written on Ian's face. The fact that Ian is feeling as if his entire world is colliding, and the deafening silence… I want that to be shown clearly. As I mentioned thousands of times, without the expressions, drama and the emotional rides the lead is going through, it would be entirely undecorated which is something we don't want."
"Brad, how about we add a third camera?"
Ian said loud enough for everyone to hear. As soon as Ian said it, all the eyes turned towards him.
It had been three months since the shooting started. Ever since the beginning of the shooting, something Ian did that everyone else respected was to listen to Brad and move along with his intentions. When Brad would say something or ask a certain shot to move along, Ian would do with nothing asked.
For the first time, he was suggesting something to do with the camera angles.
"Yeah? Why do you think so?" Brad asked after a pause of eerie silence.
Ian took a step forward.
"From what I've noticed, interactions between Kiara and Sean Are all being shot just by two angles. And, the scenes are preparing for the climax. I believe the depth of the shots can be enhanced that way."
Brad nodded to Ian's words as if he understood where he was coming from.
"Yes, I agree with you. We'll take it like that and see how it would go," Brad said and smiled, shrugging while looking at others.
The cameramen and the cinematographer nodded.
"Ian, what do you think about the lighting?"
Ian walked around to stand next to Brad, who looked curious. The former then walked around to sit in front of the little screen that Brad had been looking at for so long.
"It would be great if we could just dim the lighting from the left. When my right is focused more on the camera, I believe it gives the intensity and the mystery you're looking for. You know, it would feel like, 'what's next? Will she slap him? What's the future? Is it going to be good?' and you know, to give that feeling, it's always better to set up the environment for it."
Ian said the latter while looking at the cinematographer.
"Yes, that'd be something we can do. No worries, we got you!"
"Thank you," Brad said while looking at Ian.
After Ian's nod, Brad knew that this was something he had highly expected of Ian.

[Flashback - Day of audition: From the point of view of Brad]
As soon as Ian left the room, he looked at the casting director and the cinematographer.
"What do we think?" he asked and looked at the casting director in his eyes.
The room went into pin-drop silence as soon as Brad asked the question.
After two minutes, Brad pushed the question on them, as he knew what his answer was already. "Well?"
"Technically, I think Aaron Holden did a pretty decent job. His expressions were on point, and as we all know, he's a guy who has enough experience to pull this role, and it would be a waste of time if we take Ian in. Dude clearly has the looks, the personality, and the potential to be great, but training and working with him will be much harder than we think," the casting director said while avoiding eye contact with Brad the entire time.
It was almost as if he was in a pool of thoughts as he talked to Brad.
Brad shook his head immediately.
"I hear what you're saying. Aaron has the experiences and looks, and we might even get the chance to finish the shooting faster."
"Exactly," the cinematographer agreed quickly. It was almost as if he was thinking the same thing.
"We'll take Ian to play Sean."
Both the other gentlemen in the room turned to look at him in question, 'why' almost to ask as if he was being serious or not.
"What do you mean, Brad?"
"We've made great movies back to back with no problem with actors like Aaron, and Gianna, who also helped to make our previous movie a great hit. And this time, after a really long time, I'd like to take a risk. The producers always want something in the safe zone just so they could make the money. I personally don't prefer directing safe movies all the time."
"So, what you're saying is that we should go with Ian, just because we need to add some risk-"
"That at all was not what I was saying. Ian is a director. A top upcoming director. Making him act here, is the opening of his career, and the talk of the town would be us, me. Ian is a very talented director. I've seen all the movies he directed and scripted on his own. And truly, it's out of this world."
"I have a feeling that this is unfair to Aaron."
"I've a different opinion on that. Ian could easily be experienced with his good eye for cameras and settings, it'd be just a matter of time."
"Hmm, if you say so. He did a pretty good job in the screening test anyway," the casting director said.
From the way the casting director said it, it was clear that he immediately changed his expressions just because the director had a different perspective than him.
"Yeah, he did. Let my assistant send an email and a text mentioning that Ian Renner got the role," Brad said happily.

[In the present]
Ian marched inside the office room that was filled with work vibes. Almost everyone was stressed. They all had one thing or another keeping them busy. It was a warzone.
"Good morning everyone, how is it going here?"
"Ian!"
"Guys, look who's here! It's the man of the day!
"Not gonna lie, is it just me, or do things go really slow when Ian isn't here? I just feel like we would've done editing by this time if Ian was around."
Niko, Raelynn, Martin, Will and Gar including several other sound directors sat side by side inside the office while talking to each other before Ian arrived.
"Does it mean that you did little to nothing?" Ian asked, purely shocked.
"Yeah, take a look…"
-
Forty-five minutes later Ian was stunned by what he was watching. The first forty-five minutes of the movie were completely edited, and with the sound adjusting altogether, it was something Ian hadn't expected from the team.
It was far beyond his expectations.
"This is what I was talking about. I have a few suggestions but apart from that, I've a feeling within six months, we can get it over with, right?" Ian asked looking at everyone in their face.
Niko nodded and agreed.
"I've to talk to you about certain scenes, Ian. But yes, we're almost there."
Ian and Niko walked out of the office while the rest of the team walked back to work.
