CHAPTER 27: THE FINAL TEST (2)

"I'm worried now..." Rafiz stared at the battle between Kairi and Pegasus.

"I understand you. It's been three hours already!" Virgo looked bored.

"When are they going to finish this?" Cygnus turned to Libra and then to Eridanus. His eyes twitched.

"Eridanus, wake up! This is not a place for you to take a nap!" He scolded in a low voice.

Unknowingly to them, Eridanus had dozed off for a while now. As they said, Kairi and Pegasus have been battling for almost three hours. No wonder some people fell asleep. Contrary to Eridanus who openly sleeps with his face exposed, some knights have their helmets to hide their shuteye.

As for the combatants, tiredness can be seen on Kairi but not on Pegasus. Pegasus looked normal and still full of vigour.

"This is bad. I couldn't concentrate. Can people call their power when they are interrupted?" Kairi asked silently in his head.

"We can though."

"Of course."

"You just need to focus, Kairi!"

Kairi glared at Aries, Agi and Rafiz. They have spoken back one at a time with the help of Aries.

"You guys sound like it's a piece of cake!" Kairi growled at them.

They shrugged. It was easy for them.

Kairi dodged another attack. This was difficult. Is there any other way to summon his power?

Soon, Leo's voice was heard. They can take a half-hour break. Kairi was relieved to hear it.

Pegasus keeps his greatsword back into his emblem. Sternly, he walked to Kairi.

"How long are you going to make me attack you? Where's the power you showed us before?"

Kairi's eyes lower. "I'm trying..." That's all he can say.

From the first time, the power only appeared when he was truly in need of it. Now, fighting against someone he knows and figuring nothing would happen to him or anyone, won't force it to appear.

Rafiz and their friends walk over to them.

"Is there a problem with your power?"

Rafiz gives a wet towel to Kairi while Virgo throws it at Pegasus who cached it.

"I can't focus..." Kairi said truthfully.

He wiped his sweaty face. He was relieved by the coolness of the towel and sat against the wall. Aries brought him two bottles of cold water and poured one of them on him.

He feels a bit better and smiled at Aries. "Thank you."

Aries blush. "You're welcome!" She gives the other bottle to him.

Kairi's sweaty face, which looks more stunning than normal, attracts her. For some reason, she felt Kairi looked more handsome than usual.

Honestly, can a guy look so attractive when he is sweating?

Somehow, she could answer it with a yes. Now, her heart was beating fast. Turning away, she looked at the field to calm herself.

"How does it feel to fight with Kairi?" Agi asked Pegasus while handing him a bottle of cold water.

"So weak..." Pegasus sighed. "He needs more training."

He sipped his bottle of water until it was half-finish.

"How to help Kairi, then?"

Aries was starting to get nervous when Kairi still hadn't released his power. Their match was the final test. She didn't know if there were other tests if Kairi failed this one.

"Intimidation is one way but for Kairi, it might work," Agi suggested.

Pegasus agreed. They already saw with their own eyes that Kairi used his power in a situation where he or someone important to him was in danger.

"Kairi, I might kill you this time. Prepare yourself." Pegasus told Kairi early on.

Kairi looked horrified. Pegasus wasn't serious before?!

"Erm, could I ask you guys to prepare an emergency aid kit?"

Virgo patted his shoulder. "Do your best. The infirmary wasn't that bad. I am one of the regular patients there."

Kairi turned to him with a dumbfounded expression.

What dangerous thing do you do?!

Their friends let out a chuckle. Kairi's expression was funny at the moment.

"Don't worry, Kairi. Pegasus might hit you so hard but not to your death, isn't it, Pegasus?"

Rafiz turned to Pegasus while smiling dangerously.

"You want to kill me?" Pegasus lifted one eye at him.

"If Kairi went into a coma again, yes, I will kill you..." Rafiz did not hide the threat.

How much time he had wasted, when Kairi went into a coma. If anyone made him do it again, he would kill them.

"Hmph! Bring it on!"

Pegasus walked back to the field. Kairi looked at his back before he turned to Rafiz.

"Please don't interfere, ok, Rafiz?"

"Fine... Be careful. Watch all his movements closely." Rafiz encouraged him with a grin.

Kairi nodded. He followed after Pegasus.

"Kairi, try your best! Don't panic!" Virgo and their friends shout at him.

Kairi waves his hand.

"Kairi! Hit him with everything you have! Make him taste what hell is like!" Agi teased.

Pegasus looked at him sharply. He remembered the incident that happened yesterday, where Agi took control of his body. He will have his revenge soon.

The test starts again. Pegasus increases the agility and strength of his attack. His slash narrowly cut Kairi's left shoulder. Kairi manages to dodge it but the shield that was given by Aries before he continues the test shows deep cracks. Everyone was shocked by it.

"What? Why did it crack?" Libra was confused.

"Could it be because of his speed?" Cygnus looked at them.

"That's impossible. There must be a trick to it." Virgo studied Pegasus' attack.

"Will Kairi be okay?" Aries began to worry.

"Trust him." Rafiz frowned.

He already saw Pegasus's hidden attack. He hopes Kairi will notice it soon.

Aries and Libra inhaled when Kairi's right shoulder guard was blown away. The pain must be excruciating.

Kairi panted. His eyes had turned green from the pressure. And it helps him see the hidden attack more clearly.

Invisible greatsword.

Pegasus had manifested another greatsword but it was invisible. Unfortunately, it has a weakness in which the shadow of the greatsword can be seen with extraordinary eyes.

"You already found it? I'm impressed." Whispered Pegasus when Kairi stopped his attack.

Both were pressing their weapons against each other.

"That's just the beginning..." He smirked.

"What?" Kairi didn't understand.

Pegasus pushed Kairi away before jumping backwards.

"Let me show you everything."

Pegasus released something silently but Kairi's eyes had widened with disbelief. Truly, Pegasus didn't indicate that he only has two weapons.

Shocked by what he saw, Kairi ran away from him. Everyone was stunned except Leo, Perseus and Rafiz. Some even shook their heads at Kairi's action. They thought he was doing it again, running away. He did it many times before Leo called for a time out.

Actually, they didn't see those invisible greatswords floating above Pegasus. Because they were not Kairi who had the Knight Seeyer's eyes.

Pegasus chuckled. Where are you going?

With a swing of his visible greatsword, the rest of the invisible greatswords move towards Kairi.

Aaaarghhhh!

Kairi internally screamed. He didn't want to do this anymore.

Someone help him! Pegasus is crazy!

Rafiz's eyes twitched. Seeing his brother running away like a ghost was chasing him, embarrassed him.

"Sorry. I didn't teach him to be like this..."

"No worry. I never thought it would be like this either." Agi commented amusedly.

Rafiz groans.

"Kairi! Don't run! I didn't teach you to run away from a match!" He yelled at Kairi with a flushed face.

"Then, you come to replace me!"

Kairi managed to jump behind Pegasus while Pegasus blocked his run and then fled again.

"Erm... Is he not tired of running? He'll lose his energy sooner or later." Libra was concerned.

"Why did fate choose him to be your leader? I'm so sorry, I really didn't teach him to be a coward." Rafiz felt responsible.

"Don't blame yourself. At least, he knows how to run or dodge most Pegasus attacks. Even I could not do that so many times." Virgo thinks Kairi was talented at running away.

Now that he thought about it, Kairi did happen to run away when He, Agi, and Pegasus were trying to bring Kairi back to Syarantonia. Until now, he doesn't know how Kairi managed to escape their vigilance.

"Damn you, power! Please wake up! I truly need you right now!" Kairi dodged while shouting in his head.

He finally stopped at a corner and concentrated. Pegasus was seen to instruct his greatswords to attack him again. Suddenly, he thought of an idea.

"Since you won't appear... Then let's die together!"

Kairi gripped his sword and aimed it at Pegasus. Something inside him feels his intention. Without Kairi's consent, the power releases itself, blasting Pegasus and all his greatswords away.

"Kairi, he did it!" Shout Aries and Libra happily.

In front of them all, Kairi was surrounded by a bright golden stellar field. The field was engraved with 32 stellars spirits.

"Des Sa Olo Nas Ki Ei... (Oh star who became my servant...)"

Pegasus and their friends were startled by the language Kairi used. His eyes also had turned dull. They felt uneasy and immediately wanted to stop Kairi from finishing his words.

Danger!

That was what they felt. Unfortunately, they were too late.

"Fa Likes Aito Olo Elne Mos Ei! (Destroy all the obstacles that darken my path!)"

A light materialised, illuminating the field and obscuring their sight. When it was gone, their eyes widened at the scene happening in the field.

"Rafiz... What are you-...?"

Kairi turned pale after his mind was conscious again and saw Rafiz in front of him. Rafiz gives him a small smile.

"You can't, Kairi... He's your friend. Don't... Ever do it again..."

Then, his body slowly falls aside, blood profusely coming out from his abdomen.

"Rafiz!"
