Having made up his mind, Xaloc went upstairs to register his mission as well as take a leave of absence. If he does not come back in two months, then the school would issue a mission to look for him.
If they couldn't find him, they would declare him missing. This was the rule of the mission hall. When he was done accepting the mission, Xaloc went back to the pen where he had hired the bird that he used in his last trip and rehired it.
He mounted the bird and took to the sky. The bird flew faster and faster, and Xaloc could only hear the howl of the wind in his ears as the incoming turbulent air current sent his clothes fluttering about.
Xaloc had been concerned that Alim would not be able to adapt to the intense wind but the little bird was at home in the sky, flying faster than the travel eagle.
