~A KING'S HEART II~

ARLON FLOATED WITH HIS HEART pounding in the pool. The hot water was but ice now around his legs. The pool seemed as cold as the bowels of the deep as he watched Lorraine's emerald eyes pierce across from the gleaming stone of the ledge into the swirly waters of the pool where he hovered.

'Nihila!' He mused inwardly. 'Guide my tongue.'

The King wasn't particularly afraid of his wife. However, what gave him chills was the thought of living without her. There weren't any syverian laws binding a Queen to the King forever. She could leave the royal marriage whenever she wanted and she could also be dethroned by the King.

For the latter, Arlon didn't hold fear. The handsome King knew there was no way he would dethrone his lovely wife. The former however was daunting, and now unpredictable. Should Lorraine try to leave him, there was nothing he could do. Arlon could only pray she had come to a less severe conclusion.
